Lacopo's Pizzeria

Don't know why I never tried Lacopo's before.  This is really good pizza.  Large, thin, crispy slices.  Not too saucy.  Homemade sausage is very tasty.  Carryout only.

Best Pizza in South Bend

Returned to South Bend after more than a decade and was thrilled to find Lacapo's still there.  South Bend, for whatever reason isn't a town with much good pizza.  Perhaps its some anti-Chicago thing.  We had given up back in the 90's when we found this small place.  Nothing but an oven and a counter.  Run by a family - then young, now High School pictures on the wall.

Really good pizza.  Quality crust -- high gluten, crispy on the outside w/ a touch of char, soft on the inside.  Sauce is flavorful, nice tang no overpowering spices and not sweet.  Cheese is finished to the perfect touch of brown, but not overdone.  They just do it right, which is a rare  and beautiful thing.  

Ardmoore is a small road right off of Lincoln, out on the West Side by the airport.  It's really pretty much on Lincoln.
