Pub food kinda place. Beer isn't really cold. Was told by bartender that she wasn't allowed to chill a glass in cooler for our next beer. Draft beer a bit expensive. Kind of creepy the owner sits at end of bar with a stuffed animal taking up seat next to him and just seems to watch everyone. Guess he doesn't want anyone sitting next to him. Doesn't make an effort to get up and say hello to his patrons. Â Don't hate the place, food was ok. But those little things I mentioned makes me not want to Mae an effort to get back there.
Review Source:My husband and I came here the evening before St.Pat's, figuring that we would still get a great deal or a special. NOTHING
I was surprised at the limited menu. The Shepards pie was okay, a bit dry and could use some "dressing up" (I mean even for bland Irish food...it was bland)
They didn't really have any irish stew or anything of the sort... kind of disappointed and also  overpriced :(
However, The waitress was great!
A group of four of us went to Ward's after work last night (Friday) around 9:30. Â We sat at a table for about 25 minutes and were never acknowledged by either the waitress who was serving our section, or the bartender who came by to the table next to us with drinks. Â When we got up to leave, the waitress who was clearing a table that diners had just vacated, glanced in our direction, but still failed to even acknowledge our presence.
The dining room was barely even half full. Â I am shocked that the waitress didn't even look at us once. Â Not sure what this was all about, but it certainly has left me not wanting to return.
I ate dinner at Ward's two years ago, and had a terrible meal. Â We learned later that the cook had failed to show and they stuck someone in the kitchen with little experience that night. Â We were part of a large party and not one of us had an enjoyable meal... my steak sandwich was inedibly over-cooked, as was my friend's salmon. Â My other friend ordered veal parmesan that was served to him without any tomato sauce and was also over-cooked. Â There were about 10 more people in our party that night (we staggered in at different times, but the boss was there to buy us all dinner), and one person said their burger was good, but everyone else said their food was far below what the expected it to be. Â After that experience, I wasn't inspired to return, but like I said, I learned that it was an inexperienced cook thrown into the weeds that night, so well, we decided to give it another try last night.
I suppose if you want any kind of service at Ward's, you need to take a seat at the bar. Â I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
I haven't been in quite some time, but I've always enjoyed Ward's because it's small, out of the way, and you can actually hear the person you're talking to. Â Call me an old man, but I like that in a pub. Â Decent beer selection, the food's decent, and the atmosphere is cozy. Â I've gone with a large group of people, I've gone with just one or two others, and I've been there by myself with a book, and they were all enjoyable ways to spend some time.
Review Source:Wow, how disappointing.
I went to Ward's this evening, around 8:45, to Have a meal and watch a friend perform. It was a beautiful night, and my wife and I were on motorcycles. We pulled in, and I took out my phone in the parking lot to find out what time my friend was performing.
Just then, an older man with either a very bad wig, or a very bad dye-job came running over, pointed toward the road, and shouted "Chello's is down the street!".
I said "Excuse me?"
Even louder this time, he said "I have no parking here, Chello's is down the street", still pointing to the street.
It was then it occurred to me, he was profiling us, because we were on bikes, and suggestin that we take our business elsewhere. So what he was really saying was, we don't want your kind here.
How very very small minded, bigoted, short-sighted, and misguided. Bikers these days run the gamut from organized motorcycle clubs, to casual riders. From young to old. From doctors, to lawyers, to plumbers, to carpenters, professionals, tradesmen, princes, paupers and presidents. We are human beings, and our money is as green as anyone else's. I suppose it's not technically a crime, like racial profiling, but it still stings.
I am writing this review, in hopes that other riding enthusiasts read it, become as outraged as I am, and spread the word. This establishment does not deserve our hard earned money.
Went there on a Saturday night not crowded. Were were only table there for food all others there for drinking . Order took 45 minutes to an hour . We had children with us . No kids menu - fine - but waitress told us they could do up some pasta. When they brought our dinners they informed us there was no pasta and could they do something else . Fish was overcooked and dry. Fine place for a pint but avoid the food
Review Source:Simply lovely. Â The waitress was attentive, the fish and chips were divine, the Guinness was cold (for all the Americans) and the sangria was delicious. Â Wonderful atmosphere. Â This is a place you want to go to relax, have some drinks, get some good pub food and have some good conversation.
Review Source:Live Irish music, no crowds, and great beer. Anywhere that has Speckled Hen AND Tetleys on tap is going to be in among my list of area favorites. The absence of Murphy's is almost excusable. Almost.
I like Ward's because it's quiet. There aren't a ton of TV's blaring, or people blaring for that matter, making it a great place to sit and chat with a few friends. Even on the weekends it's never so busy as to induce claustrophobia.
The bar here is huge, and there's plenty of tables so finding a set is never a challenge. The food isn't amazing, but it'll do, and nothing is terribly expensive.
Ward's is a traditional Irish pub located on the EG/Warwick line. Â
I like Ward's and have been coming here for years. Â I just went last Saturday night for dinner and drinks so i figured it would be appropriate to write a review.
For beer choices on tap, they do not have an excessive selection. Â However, the beers they have on tap are the ones that count; Harpoon, Tetley's, Smithwicks, and of course, Guinness. Â Basically, all the top beers from the UK are featured on tap here.
The menu is also limited to mostly pub grub type food and a few salads. Â There are approximately 6-8 main dinner entrees always available as well as daily specials (look for the Guinness Stew which is quite literally the best stew I have ever eaten in my life). Â Despite the limited menu, the food is always delicious. Â I have never had a bad meal here and the portions are a decent size.
Atmosphere is QUIET. Â If you are looking for a rowdy sports bar to watch the Sox game, go down the street to Fat Belly's. Â If you are looking for a quiet place to have a conversation with friends, Ward's is more your speed. Â There is only one small TV here and they often play traditional Irish music.
I recently threw my husband's 30th birthday party here and would highly reccomend it to others for an event. We were given the back room where we were able to accomodate about 30-40 people throughout the night. The staff were very helpful and allowed me to decorate and bring in some outside goodies.
We did order apps for the party and there was a steady bar tab flowing. I'd like to ecspecially acknowledge Liz, our server, who provided a well rounded experience from cutting the cakes, managing many individual beer tabs and ensuring that everyone was happy throughout the night. I initially couldn't picture a party being held here but after this, I couldn't have imagined a more perfect local venue for the occasion.
Friends have mocked this place for being boring & full of old men, but I think it's pretty damn sweet. Â A good beer selection, Irish music, and delicious food can all be found here. Â They have a delcious pan-seared scrod on Friday nights which was fantastic. Â Their soups are very good, too. Â It's usually pretty quiet, which I like, so you can have a conversation with your beer and take in the Sox game in peace.
Review Source:if awesome were a place, it would be here... in the biggest little state in the union.
ward's is your traditional neighborhood irish/american bar and restaurant. Â it has everything you need - a sizable bar, great food, great beer and every thursday and sunday night there's traditional irish music. Â a seasoned squad of up to about 15 or so musicians meet up and just jam with whoever is there. Â they play all old-school celtic tunes on traditional irish instruments that should get you right psyched for st. patty's.
i promise it's legit, which i can approve based on several trips to ireland myself. Â do yourself a favor and check it out.
