First off, this place is GIANT. Tons of seating both at the main level bar and tables, tons of seating at the upstairs bar and tables, not to mention the 10 or so pool tables, and two u-shaped leather couch "dens" for watching a big game with friends. They also have a large patio, a poker room, and what appears to be a night club.

Good selection, great prices, friendly bartender. Check it out.

Living in Michigan can be tough if you're a blackhawks fan. We were trying to find a sports bar that would play the game, and wayside west would since they have about 5000 T.V.'s. At first a Pistons game was on so it was on the big screens, and the blackhawks game was on a little tiny screen below, and on the other big screen was just ads for their own bar, so we politely asked the waitress if they could put the blackhawks game on the big TV.  She asked her owner who said no, because the pistons had priority. Yea yea yea, we get that, but are the ads for your own bar necessary on the other TV?

So someone at another table also asks for the game to be put on the big TV.  The owner comes over and is ridiculously rude to everyone, saying we're even lucky he's playing a Blackhawks game.  He concedes that after the pistons game he'll put the blackhawks on the big screen.  So the pistons game ends, we wait and wait, and finally the owner goes up and changes the channel.... to a different basketball game.  Jerk.

An owner should never disrespect his customers.  You're a sports bar, there was a demand for a certain game, you promised many customers something to make us happy, then did something completely different.  It's also silly that you need to show commercials for your own bar on a mega TV screen.

Waitresses were lousy, no personality, hardly checked on us and seemed annoyed whenever we asked for something.

This bar is huge, but it has an attitude problem even bigger than that.

Thursday is "$6.50 medium pizza night", and so I took the family there for something different.  We were pleasantly surprised.  They make everything in-house, so that's already ahead of most chain restaurants.  The kid's pepperoni and cheese pie was a tad greasy, but the adult's combo pizza was quite flavorful and the crust was tender.

The service was pretty good - drinks were refilled and we were checked on pretty regularly throughout the meal.

Overall, a good place to hang before the bar scene gets going later in the night.

Okay so Wayside is almost too big so the seating areas are awkward. My one big complaint about this bar is that it isn't close to anything. so make sure you have a DD or you want to be there all night. I also can't get over how awkward the space is. The nachos are good and if you have a party of 85 this is the place to go.

We stopped in here looking to grab a couple of drinks and have a good time. There was a large group of us and we wanted a place that could handle a party our size. When we first walked in, it was impressive! This place is huge with four floors of tables, and multiple bars.

It took some time to find a place we could all sit together and we found one in an area that had couches. We had just sat down when a bartender came over and politely told us that that section wasn't open yet as there was a private party and that we could sit there, but we wouldn't have a waitress. We should have just stayed, but not wanting to cause problems, we went to another area, and this is where trouble started.

The waitress we had was horrible. It took her forever to get to our table, then when she finally came and took our drinks it took a long time to get them, and when they came she had the order all wrong. She brought things we didn't order and didn't bring items we did. It took so long that a couple of people went to the bar to order their own drinks. When the waitress came back she still had it wrong and they told her to just take the drinks off their tab. She left and came back with the drinks they had already canceled, and it still wasn't right.

She was rude about the whole thing and made some flippant comments. We all left. I'll never go back.

Wayside is humongous.  I only sat in one area at the bar but I think they have a variety of games, a dancing room which also happened to be housing a cagefight, and several bars.  On a Saturday night the special was an unbelievable $3 you call it, even including Bloody Marys. I'm pretty sure the pickles and olives in it cost at least $2.

The servers are very friendly and attentive, as is the (unnecessary) bathroom attendant.  The crowd is nice, albeit weird, but that could be due to the cagefight.  Too bad this place is so far from downtown.  When you open a tab they don't need to keep your card, which is a plus for credit card forgetters like me.

One of the best pulled pork sandwich's in Kalamazoo plus they  have  $1 pints of domestic on Friday and shuffleboard. Other than that it's kind if a D-Bag environment in the evening.

This place has sucked since the first time I went there 6 years ago.  The way the bouncers act is more like trying to board an airplane than get into a bar.  The waitresses are "whore-ibble" if you know what I mean: freshman girls that get hired for qualities other than brains and experience.  Drinks are expensive, food is on the low end of bar food.  Thank god they have shuffleboard and pool tables or this review is an easy 1 star.

This really encompasses the true meaning of a sports bar. Wayside is for many reasons the best bar in Kalamazoo. I remember back in the day, when people would wait in line for up to an hour just to get in and have a good night at "da Way". It certainly has a lot to offer anyone who wants a reason to get out at any time of day.

The bar offers a lot of attractions that will keep you busy, entertained, and satisfied depending on what you have on your mind.

Equal parts, restaurant and bar, the Wayside opens its doors to all ages in the daytime with a commendable menu of appetizers and meals. The bar boasts of over 40 local and imported beers on tap at competitive prices. There are also 4 bars on the premises, so you don't have to wait too long on a busy night.

If you are trying to chill out with friends, try out one of the many arcade games or even the free-throw basketball simulator upstairs. There or also about 7 seven-foot (bar size)pool tables and 2 nine-foot tables on the upper level of the bar. The bar hosts singles and doubles pool tournaments all the time if you are the competitive type.

Wanna catch a game? Sit at one of the many couches and booths scattered all over the bar or in the newly remodeled TV lounge and watch one of the many big screen TVs. Game night is always a great time at Wayside for this reason.

Are you into poker? Visit Wayside on one of the nights the bar hosts Texas Hold-em No-Limit games and try your hand at some cards. Just gamble responsibly and don't bet away next month's rent.

Maybe you've had a hard week and wanna dance your stress away. Check out the dance club section where some of the best DJ's in Kalamazoo have spun their records. If the dance club is too crowded for your liking, check out the VIP section overlooking the dance club and enjoy the scene from a more private perspective. The VIP section accepts groups in advance or at request for celebrations or birthday parties and offers bottle service at reasonable prices.

The Wayside has had its ups and downs over the years but it has definitely stood the test of time and is always a great place to go to have some good clean fun.

This is my favorite place to hang out in the 'zoo for drinkin'.  It's like a chameleon...  During the day it's a sports bar with pizza and games on the big screens, and it's a full-fledged bar and club at night.  Ask for a starburst...  It's a little treat I brought all the way from New Mexico State to the good ol Wayside.  Ya know that country song "I love this bar", that's Wayside for me.  Country music??  What's happening to me??  I gotta go listen to some hardcore rap or death metal now...

Michelle H is smoking something. I've not been overwhelmed by this place at all. It's a typical college sports bar. What sets itself aside from other bars is the mass amount of pool tables. They have tournaments here all the time, which are really well organized.

The food is decent but it's typical bar/restaurant food. Nothin notable at all. If I was to call anything out, it would be the pizza. They have a dance club in here as well, but it's definitley not worth the cover charge. Mostly people with "new haircuts."
