A real unique restaurant, very Springfield. Â I thought the food was very good, and very reasonable. Â It is the ONLY place in Springfield that had a crowd to it. Â I have been there twice this week, and will keep going back. Â
If you are a vegetarian, or are offended by taxidermy, obviously stay away.
good bar food. good pizza. foods worth the trip. However... Sometimes this place is crazy busy. Line out the door can't get a seat busy. And when its that busy what suffers?? Hmmm??? the service thats what. If its packed and you don't mind waiting forever then party on Wayne. My advice is to go before or after peak hours . Or a random Saturday afternoon...
Review Source:Zombie C. said it best, you'll be surrounded by the dead. Â Taxidermy, that is. Â And lots of it.
The food is good, but I don't usually order anything more than appetizers. Â The beer selection is very good. Â Service has been slow the few times I've been there, but I sat in the bar area. Â Seemed the dining side of the restaurant had more waitresses available. Â This is the kind of place where the "regulars" rule most of the staff's attention and tend to get very loud.
The menu does have a large selection of "gamey" foods. Â Think elk, quail, buffalo & the like. Â Still, it's Springfield. Â So once you get tired of the same'ol, same'ol, Westwoods is worth a try.

I ate here with a large group including kids on a trip to Springfield. The place has an overwhelming hunting theme. Surronded on all sides by dead animals and camo. Waitress did seperate checks with no problem. Food was plentiful, too plentiful if you are not a big meat eater. I wanted a smaller 1/3 pund or 1/4 pound burger. No "petite" or diet portion meal available. Everyone was pretty satisfied with their meal except the "Italian" salad with a lot of sausage, etc. Â Basically OK for the area.
Review Source:I visited this place Sept 2009. Great buffalo burger. They have a selection of side potatoes; acorns that are deep fried tater tots, cross cut, etc.. All quite good.
The hunting decor makes it interesting but at the same time its a cozy place. Friendly serves and a good selection of beers on tap. I will definitely return when I am in Springfield.
If you like big portions, unique twists on regular food and the almost painfully blatant hunting theme, then you'll like Westwoods.
I have some friends that just swear by this place. I was skeptical until my mom went there for lunch and informed me that it was good. She's the pickiest eater I have ever met, so I trusted her judgement.
It took a couple of shots to get there. I wasn't very clear on their hours so I came too early (insert crude joke here). Later, a tried again and the place was packed so I went somewhere else. When I finally got a chance, I got there right as they started serving dinner. I'm glad I made it.
Westwood's is one of the few places around here that serves non-traditional meat (not beef, chicken or pork). Tons of fried food, but it is all good. If you are on a diet, abandon it when you come here. You'll be glad you did.
The service was good, the decor good and the food good. All of it at a fair price. The place is cramped so it fills up easily, but otherwise it is a great joint.
UPDATE: Â It's been a while since I wrote this review. Â Since then, the kitchen has gone downhill. Â Two out of the last three times I've eaten there, the service was substandard, the kitchen was very slow, and the food wasn't prepared very well at all (overcooked salmon one time, chicken another time). Â Bummer
For bar food, you won't find better in Springfield. Â Whoever is running the kitchen elevates this place over the competition with their attention to consistency and quality. Â The menu does go beyond the usual burgers, horseshoes, and such toward grilled salmon and steak (which are equally well executed). Â Be sure to try the deep-fried mashed potato balls with the raspberry sauce. Â Incredible.
Beware though... if taxidermy isn't your thing... well... you'll be surrounded by it.
