We had lunch and really enjoyed our salad.  The shrimp were large and very tasty.  The setting was nice with good water views. While visiting Lewes, a great place to eat.

Just wandering around Lewes on overcast day and happened on this place. Glad we did. Got the steamed clams - very good- and oysters - ditto. My crab melt sandwich and fishermans fried were scrumptious and the po bo my partner had was very tasty. The coleslaw had a touch too much dressing.  Good food at a great value for lunch

We went for the fantastic view and setting of the harbor for drinks on the deck, which last year evolved into dinner.  I was surprised, because when this was the Lighthouse, the food was only OK bar food (not a place you'd WANT to go).  Well in 2012 they must have procured a new chef who did a bang up job, and hopefully will return next season!!  All 6 of us were raving about how delicious the food was.  I honestly cannot remember what we all had,  it was only sandwiches, but they were amazingly fresh, well executed, and each starred it's own unique twist.  A few of us had a side salad, which I recall was very special, ultra-fresh and delicious--a nice touch with some fresh dill.  I cannot wait to return--unfortunately they're closed in the off season it seems (although there's no indication of when they re-open).

We were wandering around Lewes this afternoon, and decided to go have dinner at the Lighthouse for our 12th wedding anniversary, since we hadn't been there in so long. Turns out it's not the Lighthouse anymore, it's the Wharf, and my, times have changed.

It was mostly empty when we arrived, and we asked to sit outside. On the way out, the hostess explained that there was a covered area with fans, and an uncovered area, where smoking was permitted. Blargh, we sat in the covered area, which was actually pretty nice. We got a dozen oysters on the half shell for an appetizer, and they were served layered at an angle in a bucket of ice, which looked lovely, but drained almost all of the nectar out of the oyster and into the ice. For entrees, he got the fried shrimp and I got the chicken saltimbocca. The chicken was ok, but the prosciutto was tough and stringy. And the whole dish was too salty, including the mushroom-y gravy stuff it was drenched in.

The waitress must have had tables elsewhere, because she seemed to disappear quite a bit. At one point, someone else came to take dishes away, and when we asked for refills on our drinks (both had been empty for a few minutes), she launched into a detailed explanation of why she could refill my water but not his beer because she wasn't old enough but that she would have our server refill his beer and did we know who our server was? and oh nevermind, she remembered who our server was.

Meanwhile, as the meal went on, we got more and more screaming and/or minimally supervised small children seated near us and/or meandering through. And then the music blared and stopped, blared and stopped, blared and stopped a few times, before a DJ or musician started doing really loud and really annoying sound checks - not just your typical "microphone check 123" kinda stuff, but hisses, tongue clicks, etc... I have a feeling it was about to get ridiculously loud when we skipped dessert, paid up, and left.

But it's a good thing we weren't in TOO much of a hurry, because we noticed that they'd already snuck in an 18% gratuity on our bill for two people. I say "snuck" because although it was listed there on the receipt, we almost didn't notice because we were in such a hurry to get away from the sound checks, and the waitress certainly didn't mention it, nor was the service worth an 18% gratuity, although I'd have left 15% because it wasn't so bad that she deserved to be screwed out of a tip. It was just slow, especially on the drink refills, every time. And who ever heard of a built in gratuity for a table of two? That's normally the kind of thing you see for parties of 6 or more around here. So the bill came out to around $70 for two entrees, an app, and three beers, before the gratuity.

Speaking of which, everything seemed unreasonably pricey. The cheapest thing I saw on the dinner menu was a plain old burger for $11. The food wasn't nearly good enough to justify that kind of price.

    Worst special occasion dinner ever.

This is a hidden spot that we frequent for their mussels which are prepared in a red sauce plus gorgonzola cheese. We have been coming here for about a year since it opened under new ownership.  It can get a bit touristy at times but we locals can tolerate it!  Not a great beer selection but a decent variety on tap (I'm having a 16 Mile ale at the moment).  Nice outside deck next to the canal as long as you aren't sitting to close to the smoking permitted deck (gross/cough/etc.). It's anything but fancy but who cares!  And yes, they really need to replace the carpet in the inside dining room so air outside.

We stopped at The Wharf for lunch after a boat cruise. We stopped for convenience and were pleasantly surprised by what we found.

We sat inside while the majority of customers were out on the deck, but still had good service although the waitress had to run back and forth. My husband had a burger with the Wharf salad and I had a crab cake sandwich with the same salad. Both were delicious! My crab cake was crab-filled and the salad was wonderful, with bacon and blue cheese. The kids had grilled cheese and applesauce (which is what they order everywhere) and were happy. The applesauce does come in the single-serve cups that you have to open yourself, instead of in an actual bowl. We spent $47 for a meal for four which seems to be about the going rate around here. All in all, we were happy with our meal.
