A nice dinner... Nothing overly notable, but nothing bad either. Service was good but you could tell that the waiter serving the table next to us knew a lot more about the menu than our waitress. Fried oysters were cooked perfectly and lightly breaded, but the topping was heavy handed. Pad Thai was notable (best of the dishes we ordered). Lobster lemongrass soup was very good, even by thai standards, but they used crawfish instead of lobster. Grilled flounder lacked flavor... Seasoning would have helped. Seafood Alfredo was enjoyable and surprisingly light, but it could have used some more seafood. 3.5 stars to be exact - I'd go back, but not for a night that I wanted anything exceptional (unless I was dying for some solid pad Thai)
Review Source:Oh boy. Â this review is like the good, the bad and the ugly.
Port might be the best restaurant in Dewey Beach, but that is a reflection on the competition, not on Port.
Mostly, this restaurant offers amateurish service for amateurish patrons with some decent food. Â If you point out to a server that technically, your drink should arrive before your entree (30 minutes after ordering) you youthful, helpful server will point out that they are pretty busy and down one server, so they are doing the best they can.
Then, as you eat, you will feel like you have a ring-side seat at human race-track. Â Young men carrying huge red buckets full of ice will race past you to the other side of the bar, and back again. Â Waiters *actually* run with the entrees. It is quite the energetic experience.
Weirdly, the (grown up) owner is walking around, checking out how people are doing things. Â Evidently, to him, all of this amateur hour activity is normal.
If you want to know why we go, please go yourself and order a Thai dish, prepared by the Thai chef. Â Wow! Â 'Nuf said.
