Whiskey River

In Corpus Christi from out of town and I heard Whiskey River was the place to go on a Wednesday night, dollar drink night!? Sold! We got to the bar after dinner around 9pm and there were only a few locals drinking and two-stepping. I took a couple shots and got a beer and have so far spent only a whopping $8 with the $5 cover charge, this place is awesome! My coworker was drinking Coronas and even those were cheap at a mear $3.25, I feel like California screws me with their high priced over $6 a beer, while gems like this one exist! Also with a DJ named Twinkie how can you really go wrong?

We scoped out seats right on the edge of the dance floor so we could learn the local steps and before long a couple of cowboys were asking us to dance. All the guys in the bar were so extremely nice! They taught us how to two step and everyone helped us out with the line dances. Not bad for a couple of CA girls! When the hip hop music came on everyone crowded the floor some the booty shaking. The bar got really packed around 11pm, night and day from an hr earlier. I loved every second of this place and definitely would go back!

Be sure to check out the taxidermy raccoon in a mini canoe over the bar. He was my favorite.

This place has a ton of potential. I'm 19 and my fiance is about to turn 23, we are down here with the military so naturally I'm surrounded by numerous older people. We go to whiskey river alll the time and it's a lot of fun if you like to country dance like my fiance and I do. When getting into Whiskey River my I.D. is always checked and my hands get a big M on them and I get a different wrist band than everyone else gets and it is placed on my left wrist. I have no desire to drink while I'm there nor does it bother me that the people around me drink.
           Naturally from dancing and sweating the big Ms on my hands come off...but isn't that what the bracelet is for? Apparently not. While coming off the dance floor one of the bouncers violently grabbed me (I weigh 110) and said I needed to come with him as he pushed me out of the door and said I needed to leave because I washed the Ms off of my hands. This guy is short but very bulky with a stupid mohawk. SO I was kicked out for doing absolutely nothing wrong. So every time after that when i went there I purposely kept going back to the bouncer to get more Ms on my hands. About a month later as I'm leaving Whiskey river the guy at the door says "what happened to your Ms?" which are still visible but warn off  while  my fiances finger tips were turned black from dancing with me all night. I look at him and all I could do was look at him and say "You are ridiculous, there's a cop right next to you, do you want to go ahead and give ma a breathalyzer because I would be more than happy to do that for you."
                   I understand that they have a job to do, but going after the same girl twice when I literally have done nothing wrong is ridiculous and their music choice there has gone down hill. I would rather go to "Gropers" than go back to Whiskey River and deal with the rude, accusatory personnel they have there.

It's a country place. Not my type.

Beautiful dance space in the middle. Lots of redneck and cowboy wannabes in their cheap Dodge belt buckles and boots. Prices are reasonable. They do have special nights where they play dance music or host college students.
