It was December 31st, 2012--an eerie evening. That's right, this was no ordinary night, this was New Years Eve.

You are already asking yourself, "Why was Aaron B. here on NYE?" On this day, I asked the same thing.

My "crew" was a hodge-podge of a friend group mixed of close friends and acquaintances. The Alpha-female of the night decided we should go here cause none of us were available to host a party and no one wanted to spend an exorbitant amount of money on cover (Wild Country's cover was like $10 and that included a free "personalized" bottle of champagne at midnight". She also wanted to do something quirky and out there so we all complied, we had nothing else to lose.

I was nervous to go here as country line-dancing is not my scene. I don't even know what my scene is but I knew this wasn't it. I reluctantly went anyways. First off, I think i wore colored khaki with pants and a button up--I felt overdressed. After seeing some other patrons I quickly learned noone cares what you look like here. It's more of a wrangler's kind of a place.

When you first walk in you feel like you are in trouble. They wand everyone with a metal detector before you go in which almost makes the place feel unsafe. It doesn't seem like the kind of place where that would be an issue but it makes you wonder...?

The first view of the inside is overwhelming and hilarious. It is very large and stereotypical; It has a large bar area with tons of seats that surround the giant tiled dance floor in the middle. It's important to note that there is one lonely stripper poll uncomfortably placed in the middle of the dance floor. Why is this important? Because its random. Very random.

We quickly established a spot in the corner of the second floor with some pitchers of bud light. There was a DJ and a live band. The music playlist was a fusion of country and pop music. They also had a mechanical bull you could ride or watch people make a fool of themselves on. Overall I had a great time. It was really fun but in that I'm laughing at you not with you kind of way? We danced the night away (on the non-country songs) and had an amazing time.

I probably wouldn't go back. I know the main reason I had a fun time is because of the people I was with and the randomness of what we were doing. If you are looking for a random adventure maybe you should hit this place up.

Like Genesis said...I can't dance. Well, I CAN, but I promise no one wants to see it.

My husband made an off-handed comment about checking out Wild Country last Friday and surprisingly, I said yes. We made a quick jaunt back home for me to get all decked out in my flannel and drove to Collinsville.

First of all, the line to get into this place on a Friday night is ridiculous! We must've waited for a good 20 minutes. Next, the entrance fee is silly. Yes, this is a "club," but *REALITY CHECK* this is Collinsville! Not St. Louis. Get over yourself.

Now for the good...holy mother of cheap beer! Sure, the selection sucked, but when you're paying $1.50 for a bottle it no longer matters. I've never seen beer that cheap outside of a gas station. They also had a heated smoking area (which I was VERY thankful for). Lastly, the DJ. I asked the DJ if it was acceptable to request a song if you intended to slow dance to it where they generally line dance. He said yes and I told him I wanted to hear "Need You Now," because it was my husband and I's song. I expected to wait at least 30 minutes given the amount of people, but after only a couple songs, he played it. Apparently, you can line dance to anything, because we were definitely the only two people slow dancing. I didn't care. It made my night :)

If I could give This place zero stars I would. I only give it one because of the Dancing. The line dancing is great if you know what you are doing and they had lessons when we got there at 9pm. HERE ARE THE NEGATIVES!  If You give me a two year old beer and charge me for it....then give me a two month old beer and still charge me....That's bad business. I've been to plenty of Bars in my 29 years and will never visit This one again. Manager Obviously knows nothing bout beer since he claims "beer never expires"  and it only goes bad if its in the sunlight. The Miller Lite "Vortex bottle" has been out for over a year, and the bottle they gave me was so outdated it wasn't funny.

    0/0 for customer service.
