Very disappointing! Â I had been looking forward to visiting this place as it's local and I heard great things. After our visit, like many businesses in Long Grove, I gather that Wine Splash is experiencing problems. No sushi as promised in the menu. No wine flights like my friend had enjoyed on a previous visit. Â
There was a $10 bottle charge if you purchase a bottle from their "store." Â The service was inattentive -- with our $10 glass of wine -- we had to continually ask for more water which were served in tacky plastic cups. Â Flatbread pizza was overpriced and lukewarm. Â
The place is super cute -- well appointed. Â Will I be back? Maybe in the summertime when we can sit outside and enjoy our $10 glass of wine. Â Don't go there with an appetite! Â Such potential.
Just what Long Grove needed! Â Yea! Â Â First visit - had a very enjoyable time! Â Â Wine selection great, service and staff very accommodating and friendly. Â Â Will definitely come back. Â Â Two suggestions however: Â Â During summer season, please spray for mosquitos before opening - we were eaten up alive. Â Â Also, don't allow patrons to smoke in patio area. Â Law requires 25 feet from building. Â Â Sipping wine, enjoying late summer garden smells and a beautiful sky - then some clown lights up a cigarette and ruins it all. Â We had to pick up and move away. Â Â Just some suggestions. Â Best of luck. Â You deserve it!
Review Source:I recently started getting into wine, so I have been going to different wine places to expand my palate through various tastings. Â Wine Splash in Long Grove opened shortly after the Strawberry Festival. Â I knew I had to check it out after the owners said hello during the fest and played with my friend's dog. Â So when I returned to the Strawberry Fest the following day I went to their tent and had a glass of the Strawberry Wine. Â It was a red based wine (I am usually a white wine girl) but I really enjoyed it.
I went back on a date last night and the parking lot was full. Â I was excited to get the last spot. Â Apparently on Thursdays, they do a craft beer tasting and a wine flight. Â You can also order certain wines by the glass or half glass.
They have a beautiful outdoor patio area, but we took a seat inside because it was still pretty hot outside. Â The interior is beautiful, you really have to explore the entire place!
I ordered a glass of the white sangria. Â It was a pretty heavy pour garnished with fresh fruit. Â It was super yummy. Â I then had some of the chilled Moscato that they were offering by the glass. Â It was so good that I got a bottle to go!
They offer some small bites here. Â They brought us out chocolates, crackers and raw almonds to sample with our wines. Â They were also offering a bacon platter to go with the beer tasting.
The staff were super friendly and talkative. Â They seemed to make everyone feel right at home! Â I think I may become a regular here! Â I just wish they were open later, but I guess they are trying to work that out with the Village of Long Grove!
