Ok, seriously? People that love beer CLEARLY are going to have a field day when they come to World of Beer. I am not even kidding. 500+ beers alphabetized by state and country as well as an explanation of what Porter, Pale Ale, IPA, etc is. I also am now a card carrying member to take advantage of discounts, special tastings and promos. $15 will buy that and give you a T-shirt. The lime chili popcorn has some nice kick to it. I can't wait to go back and try some more.....
Review Source:Apparently it is ok for the not-so-attractive servers to take many beer shots (and seriously, who takes beer shots unless it is natural light while in college playing powers hour?) through out the night and constantly flirt with the "regulars" who are married men. Terrible services where the servers don't know beer. Stick to your local breweries as this place is not worth the entertainment, lack of beer knowledge and service.
Review Source:This is a good place to meet a group of friends and have a few beers. It has a comfortable vibe, lots of TVs for game watching, a great beer selection & knowledgeable servers.
The down-side is that they don't seem to keep much in stock or update their menus very often because they were out of 3 of the beers my group of 5 ordered. Our waitress was able to recommend some similar beers that were up to par for the most part, but it was disappointing to not be able to try our original selections.
I do like that you can bring in food from neighboring restaurants, which will be great once there is actually a decent selection nearby. Currently, only Garbanzo and the two Hotel restaurants deliver food to WoB but I've heard that once Udi's and Cuba Cuba are open, they will as well.
I will definitely return to try it out again.
Sooo they've got some beer.....
While they didn't have some of the Spanish beer I was seeking, I was able to find some German and Costa Rican brews I hadn't seen in a bit. Â They lean toward Colorado and Belgian beers as those take up most of the ink on their menu.
Very friendly staff, however, sometimes they seem a bit overstaffed and they look bored.
They don't (unfortunately) serve food but I believe they will allow you to order from surrounding businesses.
N.B.: Allegedly, the City Set area will be allowing open containers within the City Set district once more of the other businesses open.
This place had positive and negatives, but I will give it a four because of their amazing selection as well as their love for Colorado craft beers.
The first time I came here it was ladies night (it said ladies special all day on the menu) and we came for the specials. Our waitress had no idea about the specials that were going on all day. Â WEIRD but whatever. Â So we had a few brews... my favorite being the Boulder Kinda Blue (a blueberry wheat beer! YUM!), but then it came to food... BUM BUM BUM. There is none! Â How could such a wonderful thing come to such an end. Give me the drunk munchies and then disappoint why dontcha!
Okay, okay, they do have some pretzels and popcorn in the back if you really need a snack... and a menu of places that will deliver to you. I guess I just need to be prepared next time.
They have hundreds of micro brews on tap and in the bottle. Â Service industry night is on Mondays, Ladies night on Thursdays, and bands throughout the week. Â It is a pretty cool place in an up and coming location. And if you have a love for hops like I do, this is the place for you. Â Oh and did I mention that they will give you a sample of any beer if you aren;t sure if you will like it? By the time you leave here, you will be a brew master, a true alcoholic expert.
CHEERS!
We love love World of Beer :)
Pros: bar staff is super friendly and you can get lots of free tastes of any beer on draft. Also, they have so many options that you can't not find something you love. Next, although the prices are a little high for you Coors and PBR drinkers, they offer some kind of discount every week night from ladies night to sin night to student night to loyalty member discounts. Also, a few reviews say its loud and they don't have food. Addressing the loudness, it's only Thurs, Fri, Sat that they have a live band. It's loud but lively. As far as food, you can bring your own and the local restaurants will deliver right to your barstool. WOB also offers snacky pretzels and white cheddar popcorn on the house. YUM :) We will keep coming because the bar tenders remember our names and we love the atmosphere :)
Cons: it's not summer yet and we can't enjoy the patio!!!!
World of beer does a really good job of doing what they advertise. Â They have 60 beers on tap and 500 different beers in bottles. Â When I went, I did not have any problem with the sound level. Â While they do not make their own food, they do have a book of menu's from nearby restaurants that deliver. Â I like the interior decor. Â Lot's of brick work, refrigerators with beer on display, and a nice bar area. Â Now that the weather is warming up, I hope to enjoy a beer on their nice patio. Â They also have live bands at night on Thur - Sat or Sun. Â That is something that has been missing in this part of town. Â While Imports and Micro's are not cheap, they do offer various discounts- Ladies night, members night, student and teachers night, and Industry night.
Review Source:I visited World of Beer a few times during their first week, and while they were still working out some bugs for sure, it wasn't anything unusual for a newly opened bar. Â The beer selection was great, though there's not a lot on draft that a real beer connoisseur hasn't probably seen before (this is Colorado after all! Â We know our brews, bro!) Â If you really want something unique, dive into their menu of bottled beers. Â Surely you can find something there in a style you'd love, no matter if you're a beer snob or beer newbie. Â There's something for everyone who likes beer, and for the rest of you, there's also wine.
Prices at WOB are a little steep, but that often comes with the craft beer territory. Â I didn't feel the prices were out of line when compared to similar tap houses. Â If you're really pinching pennies, go during happy hour any weekday before 7pm and save $1 on drafts. Â Â
There's no food on site, but you're welcome to bring your own or order in from one of many local places that deliver. Â I kinda like that, though it would be fun to have some food trucks now and again (hint hint, WOB!)
I'll agree that the only real issue with this place is that it can be INCREDIBLY loud. Â Clearly someone has seen Spinal Tap, because these folks crank their speakers up to 11. Â It makes chatting with friends feel like a shouting match, which is really unfortunate. Â At the risk of sounding like an old lady, turn that music down a notch, wouldya?! Â Some of us want to chat with our friends, and make new ones!
Overall, I love World of Beer and think it's a great add to the Glendale area. Â I cannot wait till the weather warms up and I can enjoy some great beers on that awesome patio. Â Save me a seat away from the speakers.
Absolutely, the beer selection is incredible, though I didn't see many things that I couldn't find at Argonaut or Mr. B's. But for the beer novice it's a great way to check out beers from -- you guessed it! -- around the world. Lots of good fonts too, including some solid sour offerings and a couple beers you just don't see on draft all that often, like three handles of Firestone Walker, Left Coast's Hop Juice and, on the day we were there, a firkin of Oskar Blues that was a blend of their Gubna, Dale's and Gordon (I mean G'Knight). Interesting that the dude behind the bar didn't want to bring the firkin to the front (it was "in the back") because he thought everyone would drink it too fast and there wouldn't be enough for the night customers (I surmised this). Facebook can help with that, of course. But there are still some kinks to be worked out here so maybe that's one of them.
Another one? The price of their 4 oz tasters. Any brewery worth its hops on the front range will charge you $1, MAYBE $1.50. When we asked about the cost at World of Beer, we were given a vague answer that alluded to most of the tasters being $2 and other "specialty ones" at, maybe, $3. For a TASTER. This is not a happy hour pint.
My comrade-in-beer and I had 5 tasters: Hop Juice, Stone's Cali-Belgique, the new collaboration/all women brew Ellegance (Belgian style pale), Firestone Walker's Robust Porter and the firkin. When the bill came it was $16.50. For what amounted to an imperial pint.
That, friends, is pure madness. This is not Florida, where WOB started. Beer consumers here know their stuff. This particular consumer felt like she'd been had. So...if you want to check out the selection, great, but beware the $3.50 for four ounce bizness (forget $2, there wasn't ONE that we tried that was $2--maybe Fat Tire is? Shock Top?). The pint prices are decent, but even those can run you $7-8 a 10 oz pour.
One can only hope the management stops this needless fleecing. Making money is one thing--relying on the ignorance of your customers is another altogether.
Pros and cons here. Â
Pros: Â There is lots of seating, so good for groups. Â Nice draft and bottle-beer list, although they were missing some of my recent favs like Russian River Damnation Golden Ale (available at Cheeky Monk) and Dry Dock Vanilla Porter (available at ..well, Dry Dock). Â Good, lively atmosphere. Â If you sit at the bar, you get lots of free tastes. Â Great overall service. Friendly staff. Â Reasonable prices. Good, fun crowd.
Cons: Super, super, super loud music. Â We were there for happy hour on a Wednesday and my entire group was shouting and complaining about the volume of the music. Â - Absolutely zero food. Â No beer pretzels, peanuts, popcorn... nothing. Â Like.. really? Â You can't even buy a bag of chips there. Â Really?
Overall, A-ok on this place. Â I had fun and I'll go back, but Bull and Bush isn't that far away... so ya know...
We walked in on Thursday, the 1st day of the NCAA basketball tourney, and were very impressed by the amount of TVs and number of beers. Â Unfortunately, not one of the TVs had any of the games on. Â The server and bartender looked at us like we were crazy when we asked them to turn to the games. Â
If you like to watch fishing or poker during the biggest sporting event of the year, then you will love this place.
This is a great new bar up in the City Gate area in Glendale. Â We sat out on their huge deck and enjoyed Happy Hour ($1 off taps) on a beautiful Friday evening. Â They have by far the largest beer list I have ever seen! Â They have about 6 wines you can choose from and I honestly don't know about cocktails. Â I didn't have a chance to see the inside but it I sure it is pretty big, they advertised a lot of live music nights which will be fun to check out. Â
I feel like this place will be great once it can take off it's training wheels. Â Right now they do not have a full service kitchen but you can order food to be delivered there from one of the restaurants close by so that is kind of cool. Â I am excited to be back this was a great little find!
