Back in March of 2012 I gave this place a low ball two star review so I thought I'd try it again thinking that it may have improved. Well, it hasn't; not in the least. It still has a good selection of beers but with the same awkward inattentive staff, and that's inattentive even if you happen to be the only person in the place. Â Hence, I'm sticking with my two stars on this place.
Review Source:This is a place where Beer is the main attraction, obviously. If you like beer and know the differences between brews, add a star.
We came here with my step-son who brews his own beer. The samples are very generous and the staff is friendly.
I personally, am not a beer drinker but my step-son was thrilled with the selection.
This is one of my favorite spots in West Palm Beach. An amazing selection of wonderful beers on tap and in bottles. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and helpful in helping you to select a beer that you like. They do not have an open kitchen, BUT you can order food form many nearby restaurants that will deliver to World of Beer (WOB). A lot of people like trivia night, bero, and some of the other fun community events. My only beef with this place is that there is no open bar and the live music is played way to loud. If you work for WOB please find a way to improve the acoustics. Moving the stage downstairs has helped but hasn't solved the problem. If we want loud music we can go to every other club on Clematis.
Tip: They have an awesome iPhone app.
We were here twice this past holiday weekend. Â Staff has improved and when my husband asked for a beer meeting certain parameters the bartender knew just what to suggest and gave him a taste.
Nice band here this past Saturday night, playing 90s music like Live, Sublime, Pearl Jam, they were great.
Sunday we were back this time with the dog, they have a patio but there is no way to get into the patio without walking thru the inside area with the dog. Â Thankfully they were very friendly and welcomed us to walk through with the dog. Â Great to sit outside, watch people walk by, listen to the music from the music fest at Meyer.
I like this place just because of the beer selections- it's one of the best selections around, particularly for microbrews even from the west coast. The prices are higher than you get at some places, but check they're specials they have (and if you're female, military, or a teacher/ student there's a lot more 1/2 price deals and such).
They don't have food, but you can order from somewhere else and pick it up and bring it in or have it delivered- Duffy's is right there, along with several other places.
The bands they have on weekends are usually terrible and it's way too loud inside, so get there early so you can grab a seat outside. By getting there earlier you'll also get much better service- just like anywhere else, the later and busier it gets, the worse service gets. But really, you're here for the beer, and beer you will get.
I went with my girl on a Saturday night around 10 pm and I have to say, I was not impressed by anything other than their beer selection. Prices were nothing special, the cover band that night was pretty awful, and the service was terrible (this seems to be a theme with other reviews as well...). I stood at the bar for about 15 minutes and I swear I made eye contact with every single one of the 5 bartenders, money in hand, trying to get just one drink, but they took their time getting me my beer. We left soon after.
I love the concept, hate the execution.
As a frequent Wobbler, I am very disappointed by the lack of beer enthusiasm at this location in Palm Beach. The staff always seems annoyed when I ask for a recommendation or a draft sample. (You're in a world full of beer.. Honestly? Are you gonna give me attitude when I ask you a question!?) They are clearly not educated in what they are selling because no one seems confident in telling me details about the bottles on the menu. I see more eyes rolled than smiles behind the bar. The drafts rarely get switched out. Id like to see some fresh selections in there, especially since I'm usually just in town for major holidays and a weekend here and there. No excuses. The live music is never appealing to younger crowds, who I believe this WOB needs to try and market towards. With PBA being in the close vicinity, they could draw in students with musicians from their generation. Bring in an emo guitarist to play some acoustic jams and they will come. Trivia Night is a great strategy to lure guests in, but more than half of the questions were incomplete. I see great potential in WOB's Clematis location, but for now, 2 stars. Step up your game.
Review Source:Listen. Â I still love the World of Beer, don't get me wrong. Â This isn't a break up letter, its more like a helpful hint to get it together.
Your bartenders and waitresses are lazy. Â There's no buts. Â That's it. Â They're lazy. Â
Another problem I have is that the bartenders/waitresses don't have knowledge of their product. Â I understand that there are 500 beers. Â Still, this is the World of Beer we're talking about. Â You only have one product... beer. Â When I ask, "Just give me a rare beer" it shouldn't be a mystery, all you have to do is just grab one rare beer. Â There should no reason to hesitate or guess at which beer may or may not be rare.
Also in the space of two hours, my table was only asked three times if we wanted a beer. Â Not only does that kind of service make the customers angry, it also loses the bar money. Â It was a Wednesday night. Â There weren't a lot of tables. Â Come on man.
I still love the World of Beer. Just please get your act together.
I have to agree with the other reviewers this place can be super hit or miss and some staff are a bit.. preoccupied. Â If you go there knowing what you want you should be fine..if your looking to try new beers after perusing the menu, you might have a problem. Â Many of the items listed are not available especially the rare limited edition stuff which is the whole reason of going to WOB.
Personally I think it's one of the best beer selections in the area, with the exception of Beer Depot in Lake Worth, but still an occasional disappointment.
They don't have their own kitchen but will assist you in ordering from to go menus in nearby places,
Im mixed on that too.... Â Â 3.5 stars
I've reviewed the Coconut Creek location of this chain in the past. Â I would say that it is almost exactly like the Coconut Creek one except that I like the layout of this location more. Â There feel like there is more open space and it just seems to just flow better when there is a lot of people in there.
Luckily this is right at the end of Clematis by the fountains so you can kind of avoid the fake tan fests that tend to happen at the clubs. Â But it can get very loud, especially with live music in there.
Much like any WOB there is a lot of beers to chose from. Â The taps frequently rotate offering a lot to have and of course their insanely large bottle selection.
The staff seemed a little in the clouds for a busy Saturday night. Â A number of them just kind of stood there and chit chatted while a number of people were standing at the bar waiting to be served. Â They eventually snapped out of it and got back to things.
And just like the CC store the prices are all over the place. Â You can see my analogy in the that review.
But again if you are new to beer and want to try a bunch of new things this is certainly a good place.
Depending on which night you visit, World Of Beers will either be a nice, upscale bar with a relaxed environment focused on the glory of fine brew... or a loud, wall-to-wall party crowd with a bar somewhere in the back that you will have to squeeze and strategically maneuver your way to. I can certainly understand why this place is so popular on busy weekend nights, so I personally choose to visit on the slower weekdays, when I can chat with my buddy and relax while enjoying a simply enormous selection of beers from all over the globe.
As you may have deduced by now, selection is not an issue here. Offering dozens of varieties on tap and hundreds of bottled brews, there is truly something for everyone. By the looks of the draft menu, they rotate the selections periodically (there was a small "coming soon" section), which I always appreciate.
Prices are generally reasonable and the bartenders seem eager to be helpful and make recommendations. The seating along the bar is very comfortable and everything from the lighting to the décor is pleasant and not over-done. It's hard to think of any negatives here, save for the fact that the busier nights become a bit of a struggle to get an order in (or, as I mentioned, to even reach the actual bar). Great spot, check it out.
Walking down Clematis with my buddy to see what was there.. we'd just talked about Old Engine Oil an hour before and at the end of the street was a big water fountain and a shiny new (new looking, at least) Â World of Beer...like a desert mirage. Â Totally unexpected.. we headed inside for bottle of Old Engine Oil and the folks behind the bar were really cool, as were the patrons.
Review Source:Went here to see a friend's band play and the place was welcoming. What a great business model.
The staff was fairly attentive and even though it could have been better, the place was packed so I can't fault them too heavily.
The only couple issues we had was there was a constant condensation drip from the A/C above dropping on where people sit at the bar. This is a quick & easy fix by simply putting in a drip channel. The other issue was a few of the beers that were on their menu were not available. And apparently not just that evening, but the bartender said they no longer carry it. If that is the case, then it shouldn't be on their beer menu.
Still an impressive place overall.
The only other suggestion would be to have the band play in an area where the crowd can see them better. They put the live bands above the crowd and frankly it is hard to see band members.
There are times when you need loud music and plenty of beer..such as a Friday night after a busy work week, Â and after driving to WPB to meet up with a friend. Considering that, World of Beer earns a spot on my "hitting the road" list.
I met up my West Palm Beach-living friend along the Clematis Ave strip and figured WOB would be a good start. It is LOUD Â between the multiple TVs, live band (amazing rock ans reggae covers) and the other patrons. I guess its the perfect excuse to lean in close :) The menu itself looks like a Beer dictionary, explaining the differences between the different kinds of brews.
I started with my magnum of Guava Grove to enjoy the sweet notes of the guava, while my friend started with a sampler tray. She ended up with a pear cider, which I also tasted (just ok for me). I did get to check the rest of the samples and also enjoyed the very sweet aftertaste of what seemed like a pomegranate or cherry beer. I likey!
I also likr the fact they recork yoir bottle for takeout if you dont finish it there. Good Stuff!
If you're looking for a good beer, and you're in West Palm head over to World of Beer. Â They offer 550 beers -- 500 bottled and 50 on tap. Â The beers on tap change weekly, with a handful of them rotating out regularly. Â Not too shabby! Â
We just popped in for a quick drink to cool off, and spent some time talking to one of the servers. Â She seemed very knowledgeable about beer, and appeared to really enjoy her job. Â I ordered a pint of Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Â It did not disappoint. Â
If you want to plunk down $15, you can join their beer club, and after you've consumed a healthy number of their beers, your name will be proudly displayed on a leader board for all to see.
Good spot for watching a game in a nice pub environment, with good beer and a nice wait staff. Â Next time we're back on Clematis, we'll be stopping in again!
World of beer- definately saw beers from around the world. Good selection of drafts and they rotate constantly.
They have a live band that plays, which is cool.
Place is always packed and loud so it's difficult to talk, when you're not busy deciding which beer to drink.
You can take your driink outside and talk with your group. Â No food on menu but you can pick food from nearby restaraunts and have them delivered to you to eat on the premise. Neat concept!
Anywhere with a beer selection like this I'm always going to be a fan. They are always rotating which I guess is a good thing except when they rotate the beers I love lol. Ace cider and breckenridge vanilla porter. So goooooood.
Always a packed crowd and decent live music.
They have no menu but allow you to bring in food from other restaurants or even have them deliver if it's an option. Cool idea.
Bartenders have always been really nice even with how busy they get
We were so excited to find this place after a week in South Florida and a lot of really bad beer. The lack of food would have been a bit of a problem (given the high alcohol content of the beers we were having) but we lucked out and they were serving tacos for Cinco de Mayo. We had a nice seat outside, great beers from Oregon, and a beautiful evening. Cheers!
Review Source:Any place with a beer selection this extensive rules in my book, so I'm a fan of WOB. This location just opened and we hit it up on Saturday 4/30 in between acts at SunFest, which conveniently was right across the street! The location in downtown WPB is money and the prices for beer are not bad at all. For example, they have some single beers of top quality running only $5 or $6 apiece here. Makes you feel like an idiot for paying $6 or $7 for a Heineken or something else average at other bars in South FL! Hope they open a WOB in Fort Lauderdale soon, because Coconut Creek is too far for me as well.
Back to this location, the inside is a little dark but has a lot of open space, TVs, cool beer signs on the wall, friendly staff, etc. I did not like that they didn't serve food, and we actually left after 3 beers to go eat at another place. However, I had no idea you could order from other restaurants while at WOB! (Thanks, Yelp) I guess that makes up for it! Will definitely return to WOB soon...
This World of Beer rocks! it just recently opened a few weeks ago, and its bigger and better than the one closer to my place in Coconut Creek, much more room and seating, nice outside patio and you cannot beat the location. Spent a decent amount of time and money  here during Sunfest this year, def recommend a stop in for a cold one or 2
