Second time at Ya Ya's, first time was better than this time. Â Went with my friend for the Restaurant Week 5280 special. Â First of all the place is very nice inside and I hear the patio is a great place in the summer. The menu for RW was nice although for a vegetarian ( my friend) Â the options were limited at best. There was not a big crowd, maybe a bit over half full and being that is was so, I was very surprised at how slow the service was. It took 10 minutes or more to receive the appetizers and a good 20+ minute wait between appetizer and main course. There was enough wait staff, so maybe some of the cooks did not show up. Â My chicken was a bit dry even though the plate was half full of liquid that was primarily watery chicken juice. It added nothing to the dish and it would have been better without this and a bit more moisture in the actual chicken and less having the crispy potatoes sitting in water. My friends grilled veggies were nothing special and really quite bland. Then it was an additional 10 minutes until dessert arrived. Total time for dinner was a few minutes short of 2 hours. A disappointment to be sure, both in food and service.. Â Maybe Sunday night is an off night......remind me not to go back on a Sunday.
Review Source:Had a very good experience here... would have been 5 stars but they were not seating anyone on the very large patio (with a nice view) on the most perfect day... even after I asked directly.
The food was excellent and service was very good.
Muscles appetizer.... a bit of heat spice and garlic. very well done! Â 4/5
Lasagna... portion size was a bit smaller than I'd expect but the flavor was excellent 4/5
Roasted chicken... the chicken was average, sauce was nice but flavor was way too light to add any real benefit. The roasted potatoes were by far the best part but could not save the rating here. 2/5
The food has been very high quality, the few times that I've come. We only make Ya Ya's a special occasion because of how pricey it is. Very easy to spend over $100 on a dinner for two. The steak and quinoa that I've gotten here has been outstanding and the service is very good. It's definitely a more upscale place to eat but very nice for a nice night out.
Review Source:LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Â Having never been here and just by looking at their menu, I was slightly nervous. Â I'm not a very adventurous eater but I was absolutely thrilled with my whole meal from start to end!
Blueberry Cheesecake Martini (not too sweet
Lobster Bisque (to die for!!)
Short Rib Ravioli (amazing!)
Lamb Bussco (like fancy beef noodle heaven!!!)
Not to mention, the ambiance was great, and what I would hope to see of a higher end restaurant. Â All in all made a for a great NYE dinner.
I really want to rate this 4.5 stars for the terrible parking lot. But other than that... love this place so much! The first time I came here was a small business dinner, and since then I helped organize a large networking dinner with my colleagues here. This place is fantastic for small or large groups. Classy atmosphere, the menu is huge and everything on it is great, and the service is exemplory. The lasanga is amazing (they make their own ricotta! what!), the entree and salad portions are large, the wine selection is great, and the pasta is fantastic. The only complaint I heard from the large event was for one scallop dish, the scallops were overcooked (but there were others who got the same dish and said they were perfect...)
If you are looking to coordinate an event with a large group, talk to Ben. He was very professional, accommodating, and always made himself available. He even took a seating chart I made for the dinner and helped everyone to their specific seats (something I was prepared to do myself). He is an absolute pleasure to work with and we will be back next year for the same event, for sure! (despite the tiny parking lot)
I ate here for a friend's birthday brunch. They have 1 option for brunch - a flat $24.95 all you can eat buffet (their website says $19.95). This price includes your juice, coffee, soda, etc and made to order pancakes, eggs Benedict and french toast. Bottomless mimosas are $8. Let me start this off by saying that I'm a vegetarian. There was a lot of food available on the buffet (crab legs, carving station, various salads, biscuits and gravy, assorted breakfast meats, etc.) and while I didn't go hungry, I certainly didn't eat $24.95 worth of food. The food I was able to eat was fairly average - nothing I would go back for. We had a large group and the service was very good all morning. Â
Food + mimosas + tip = $40, which is a lot for an average brunch I could make at home.
I.LOVE.THIS.PLACE. This place is amazing. Everything I've tried is SOOOOOO good. I used to book client meetings all the time around the DTC area and this place was definitely the favorite, with good reason! I heard they do brunch on Sundays from 11:00am - 2:00pm for about $25 a person with $8 bottomless mimosas. A girlfriend of mine did the brunch and said its the best in town. MAKE RESERVATIONS!
Review Source:I absolutely love this place. Â It has a great wine selection and as another poster commented, generous pours by the glass. Â I tried the sea scallops and they were amazing down to the last bite. Â The marinated beet salad was also worth trying even if you are a bit hesitant about beets. The service was friendly and the valet person even helped us to get a table when we pulled up on a very busy night. Â
WIll definitely be back again.
Expensive, My dirty martini had olive flavored vodka, but no olive juice? Â Ambiance is nice and why its not 1 star. Â The waiter missed our appetizer order, but gave it to us since we didn't get it until after our main course. Â I'm glad we had it because I still needed food after the entree. Â Â $ 30 for scallops $10 a scallop. Â Yes I got 3. Â They were sea scallops, but weren't that large... Â At least expected for 4 or 5. Â Service wasn't horrible, but like I mentioned it wasn't flawless. Stay with the Lasagna or pasta because otherwise did I mention they're Expensive.
Review Source:Love the giant pours for the wines by the glass, love the giant and delicious beef carpaccio, love that it's topped with fried capers for a crunchy and less intensely sour flavor addition (such a good touch!!)
Then came the angel hair pasta with shrimp. Â Perfection. Â Again, quite generous portion, fresh, and flavors are just great. Â
The service is A+, food is A+. Â Looks like it's a place that can be for a date or for birthday group outing. Â This is a must try, folks.
Just visited here last Monday and this place made me feel like royalty. Â And who doesn't want to be treated like royalty? Â Don't try to deny it.
So first off, you pick your wine from an iPad selection that they leave with you at the table...you can view each wine, the flavors, where it's from, the history of the vineyard, etc. Â It's a pretty snazzy little feature.
Our server was amazing and attentive and the manager on duty was probably even more attentive, she checked in on us about three times to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction and was diligent about removing unused plates from our table.
The food was flavorful and there was a lot of it, but save room for bread pudding!! Â It's in my top three favorite places to get bread pudding and it's worth every penny.
The atmosphere here is relaxing and upscale. It feels like you are on a movie set. Â We chose to sit outside near the fountain and the view is beautiful.
Definitely a must visit in the tech center if you want to be treated like the special person you are. :)
Probably slightly less than three stars but close enough.
Took my Mom here for a birthday dinner as she did not want to go somewhere that was "over the top"( to her). Â She arrived before me and had them steer her waaay back in the dining room to an isolated booth...exactly the opposite of my request n the reservation (nice table near the window in an active part of the dining room). Â Oh well, cute....sorta.
Service was solid, nice people but quite "B" movie grade, sorry to say. Â Again, very pleasant, just not really top shelf. Â Of course, this is to be somewhat expected when you're trying to play in this tough space (errr Purgatory) of moderately priced "bistro" and still nice-ish.
Food was OK. Â You get what you pay for, I suppose. Â However, the kitchen is weak...based on the way a piece of Ahi on their version of a Nicoise salad demonstrated (appeared to have been sliced with plastic picnic knife by a one-handed 7 year old)...and a piece of their special (Salmon) that was as overcooked as any cook would dare...doubt they knew any better based also on the presentation. Â Oh, they had no idea what a basic Au Poive preparation was...again, evidence of being more than just a little clueless in the kitchen.
Flavors were fine...just very very average.
One of the assistant managers was very hospitable and made a decent wine recommendation...again, just "ok"...nothing really special.
My .02.
Do I need to update if I still love a place? I'd found myself brunching at Ya Ya's yet again and it occurred to me: Could I do some sort of brunchy party? I was getting married in 2 weeks. Could this be a fun after-wedding extravaganza?
I asked. I was not disappointed.
They outlined a private brunch area inside and outside on the patio so my friends and family could wander and mingle. Everyone loved the brunch, and the cool breeze coming off the water on this very hot of hot days.
I may have to move to the tech center to be closer to my new favorite restaurant.
I have been to Ya Ya's for many years, although rarely in the past 3 years. We were looking for something different and my wife suggested Ya Ya's.
Our dinners were excellent -- better than in previous years. Great service. I had a difficult to prepare ahi tuna which was about as good as you can expect (unless you cook it yourself).
A wonderful experience!
Tasty food, and great service, but a little high in price in my opinion. I had the Black & Blue pizza, which had filet mignon and blue cheese on it. Yeah, filet mignon! And it was melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon too. Very tasty. But it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, though the price certainly labeled it as such. I have no issue paying for quality food, which is what you get here, but I feel like there are other places that serve equally as good of a meal for less. However, their menu was quite diverse, making my choice difficult. I'm guessing they cater to the business crowd of the DTC, which this place is definitely good for.
All in all, a good business lunch spot or night out for dinner. Parking can be kind of messy if you're not willing to have someone park your car for you, so be mindful of that when going. Definitely grab a spot on the patio on a nice day if you can.
A wonderful gluten free menu, they even had crabcakes, which you cant find anywhere else GF.
I took a co-worker for the special that Denver area does for that magazine (52.something) where you get a full course meal for two for that price. He liked it as well, he even ordered off of the GF menu so I could try his stuff.
I went there a few times for lunch and they were quick and efficient, no nonsense when someone is in a hurry.
A very upscale atmosphere but I wore jeans each time and no one looked twice, they have a nice bar selection as well.
And a few TV's.
I really enjoyed my lunch. The bill, not so much.
I enjoyed the complementary herbed bread and baba ganoush dip. The duck confit was really quite delicious. Of course, I'm a fool for dark meat. I should have taken its picture - it's a tiny leg quarter on a nearly as tiny bed of frisée and other greens, with a jaunty stripe of whole grain mustard.
Yep, that's about it. Good thing I enjoyed the bread. And the company.
The bottled Republic of Tea drinks are good, but will set you back $4.75. For that price, it should probably be a beer.
I'm sure I'll go back to try something heartier - I had a hard time choosing the duck over the many sandwiches and salads I wanted to try. And neighbor Shea's black-and-blue pizza with filet mignon looked pretty good as well.
The food was very good. Â The price was outrageous. Â I have been here for dessert before and don't recall being shocked like I was today. Â I had lasagna $14, and a spinach side salad $7 and, an iced tea $2.95 for lunch. Â The lasagna was good, only 3 layers so not as many carbs as you might get other places. Â I expected a spinach side salad to be $3 to $5, not $7! Â It was small and not really that tasty. Â Since we had a large party and they gave individual checks, the tip was included. Â My bill was over $27 for lunch! Â And, it wasn't even enough to put me in a food coma for the rest of the day.
I could see coming back for 5280 or dessert or happy hour but, I will not be back for lunch or I will be VERY CAREFUL as to what I order.
After Ya Ya's was recommended by good friends, we decided to check it out. We went in for brunch on a Sunday morning. We had heard about the amazing food - waffles, pancakes, Benedict, prime rib carving station, shrimp, crab legs, as well as breakfast basics and a bloody mary bar. We went in with high expectations and were not disappointed. The $25 rate is a little steep, but for all you can eat, if you plan in right you will get a great deal.
Go check it out!
Service: Wonderful, despite being short staffed our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. I may not get dessert again but if I ever want to be pampered in a restaurant I will come back here.
Atmosphere: Comfortably upscale, plush booths, padded walls. Lots of ladies who lunch...
Taste/Quality: The food was simply prepared and delicious. They offer sparkling water complimentary and its always a great palate cleanser. Their organic chicken was a favorite suggestion from our waiter and The beef carpaccio was tasty. Â Sadly the calamari was so over seasoned all I could taste was pepper. The texture was nicely done though. Our dessert is what dragged this down from a 4 star to a barely 3 star. It was a waste of both calories and money. The brulee was burnt. Yes I do like the normal crust of caramelized / burnt sugar but this was almost black and it tasted like it looked. What a disappointing end to an otherwise great lunch.
Price: For the area its to be expected. The over all quality was good and our service was impeccable but the presentation of the food was a bit sloppy. It was a little over $100 for a lunch for 4. We had 2 appetizers and one dessert that was shared by all.
The stars above are for the wonderful bread pudding. eat the bread pudding. don't miss it. did i mention about the bread pudding?
Me and my friend visited this place in DTC, quite near our work. The signage for this place could get missed very easily.
The place has good atmosphere, reminds me of medieval castles somehow.
The food menu is 2 pages long, and wine menu is 200 pages long. I got the angel hair pasta and my friend got the Penne carbonara. I had not noticed that my dish had sauteed roma tomatoes, and did not care to ask about the sauce. It came with marinara sauce which i hate. But i had some portion of my friends dish, and it was awesome.
Then the twist happened. We ordered the bread pudding. It came in a beautiful setting, with ice cream on top of it. The taste of this pudding was like ... an orgasm in my mouth. ohhh... It was the essence of the good feelings good food is supposed to give. It gave me memories of good food i have had in my home back in my home country!
A snap of the bread pudding (taken in my cellphone, doesnt do justice)

We decided on Yia Yia's as one of our 5280 picks and WOW was it fantastic! You start out with baba ganoush and freshly baked bread along with choices of salad... We chose the spinach option and asked for no blue cheese but instead feta.. no problem with special requests even for 5280.
I selected the Chicken Pesto Pizzetta for my appetizer. Yummy! crispy crust and perfectly seasoned. Â
For my entree  I chose the Airline Chicken (funny name but it means the breast with the wing still attached) This was THE most succulent bird I've ever tasted served with crispy roasted potatoes (another favorite of mine) and yummy roasted veggies.
Dessert was special portioned (i.e. smaller than the regular which feeds about 2.5 people) gooey dark chocolate brownie wrapped in Phyllo with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a raspberry and cream anglaise plate decoration... Oh wow. Â I actually sometimes come in just for this dessert and a glass of wine so it was yummy as usual.
The general manager stopped by the table to make sure all of our needs were being met and suggested a bottle of Silver Oak Cab that they'd gotten in and were offering at a great price. It was perfect.
We loved it so much we are going again for the second week of 5280 as they have a different menu to offer.... Â Can't wait!
They also have a pretty cool view of the fountain there on the corner from their patio so I plan on coming back during the summer to get the outdoor ambiance.
Wait Staff: 5 Stars
Food: 5 Stars
Attention to Detail: 5 Stars
Price: Hello.. 52.80 for two plus our bottle of Silver Oak.. great value.
Brunch...Brunch...Brunch
Bottomless mimosas, crab legs, omelets, and any other crazy brunch item you can think of. Sit outside if you can and indulge in the ecstasy that can only be experienced with a full stomach and a buzz (well in the bedroom as well, and the kitchen counter, the back seat of your car and the occasional coat room, but I digress). Amazing food for a hungover Sunday morning. If you live in the city, it may be a bit of a drive, but few places compare.
Decor--total Colorado lodge
Service--charming, well trained on wine list, sort of always there
Food--Ok, not that special, had a sort of "we know what Texans like" flair
Dessert--good, balance between inventive and traditional
Wine list--great; I'd say go for the small plates and wine or wine and dessert.
Price--I was looking for something more moderate. Â 2 apps, 2 mains (one a very mediocre Salad Nicoise), one dessert and two glasses of wine was $100 bucks. Â
Recommend: Â the Mussels appetizer used Prince Edward Island Mussels which were big, tender, juicy and wonderful. Â
I'd rather have been at Encore, but hey, we had family obligations in that end of town.
Yia Yia's (or Ya Ya's...not quite sure) has potential to be a pretty good restaurant. The well appointed bar complements a robust wine selection. I think 'bistro' is a bit of a misnomer; however, the elegant decor and table linens do provide the foundation for a more upscale dining experience.
That said, I don't think anyone in our group was in love with their dish. Although the food had European (mostly Mediterranean) overtones, I would call the genre American. The service was decent, by chain standards, but needs some work if this bistro wants to gain some stars.
Overall, I would try Yia Yia's again if the opportunity presented itself.
I haven't been here in quite a while, but I have a reason and will not EVER go there again.  Their customer service is the worst!!! My coworker and I went here for a 1 hour lunch break.  We sat for 15 minutes waiting to be served...nothing...no water...no utensils...nothing... sat for another about 5 minutes...my friend got soo pissed off we finally found our waitress who was talking to her friends at the bar talking and laughing with them while we waited 20+ minutes...she asked her for the manager...the manager comes out...no apology from him and no apology from the waitress....he just offered to give us free food.  My friend got  more pissed cuz we didn't go their for free food.  We went there cuz some other co-workers told us about them....they were definately wrong about them.  My friend just ended up yelling at the manager and we left the place and never looked back.
Seems like others said they have nice service..Maybe they are just racist. Â They had the worst service I'd ever been to.
Ya-ya's was close to the hotel my mom was staying in, so it seemed like  a safe bet. What I didn't expect was an upscale restaurant with prices that won't break the bank and killer food served in a nice atmosphere.
Woah there, slow down now.
Yes, I agree....ok, anyway this place has some killer soups and interesting specials, which nonetheless isn't too meat heavy: i.e. vegetarian options exist (not a lot, but like I said before, you can't be too picky when you refuse to eat da flesh, since it is so popular). It seemed pretty upscale but still had some decent price variations meaning that sure the special was 15-20, but they still served an $11 meal which was awesome.
Good times at this serendipitously named restaurant.
