I haven't been to the Yucatan Beach Club in years but it is just as I remember with a few upgrades! The bartenders are friendly and the food is pretty good. I found out they are in process of being purchased by Lonestar located across the street but that appears to be a good thing. Lot's of changes will be taking place but which will make The Yucatan even better! However, playing beach volleyball will never change because that is the reason folks hang there! I you haven't been there before or not been in a while, I suggest you check it out or revisit. I am glad this place is still around because it makes Dallas fee like home again!
Review Source:I go to Yucatan pretty often because they have decently priced drinks, tvs with the game on, darts, pool tables, and of course, several volleyball courts. During the summer it stays packed but gets quiet in the winter. At one point they had Karaoke every Thursday... not sure if they still do or not.
Food... i dont know. I don't come here to eat, I come here to play! :-)
Cool concept and a good place to hang out at. Â They have a ton of sand volleyball courts where you can play with your friends. Â The place is pretty spacious where it has a great restaurant, outdoor seating, pool, places to hang out at, benches near volleyball courts, and music!! Â The only downside of it is they allow smoking inside, I don't want to smell like an ashtray when I leave the restaurant. Â If you are in the mood for some volleyball, food and alcohol, this is the perfect place to go with a big group. Â Their queso was REALLY GOOD, and the street tacos were GOOD!
Review Source:They have great volleyball courts with clean sand. There is music played out in the beach area. There is also a pool with lots of sitting areas. This place is hit or miss on some nights with the crowds. So, you may need to reserve a court prior to your arrival. Call ahead. During the day this is a great place to bring the kids with their sand toys. On the inside of the facility patrons can play darts or pool or just chill at the bar. The only downside is it is a smoking facility so the inside smells like smoke. When we visited they were unable to make frozen drinks. They said they would begin making frozens in May. I contacted the manager of the company to give my feedback and the made changes based on our disappoints. Feel free to give them feedback they are striving to make it a better place. They are also working on providing better customer service. We will defintely visit this location again.
Review Source:I am reducing a star due to their hours on Sunday being listed as 2-12 on their door and listed as their Sunday winter hours on their phone message and they weren't open. Â We waited around until about 2:40 and finally went somewhere else. Â I still allow three stars because, when open, they are about the best sand volleyball courts I've seen in Dallas.
Review Source:They have 10 sand volleyball courts here. This is the best place to go on those hot summer days (and nights) when drinking beer alone just doesn't cut it. Even if you don't join a league, there might still be a few courts open for play - check the website for an update. I've been here for league games and stayed far into the early mornings (the latest I've been there has been 2am).
I'm no volleyball pro but I always have a good time here. The food has been hit or miss, except for the tater tots which are awesome. The scenery is nice too :-)
After passing by this place twice and parking not being that bad at all. I walked in and seen the main area which was a few pool tables and darts with the bar being the busy part. Seemed like a real chill place but oh outside was where i think the place picked up a bit. Outside was the nice beach experence i missed from being San Diego. A bar and a small pool then across from that maybe around 5 or 6 volleyball courts. All the eye candy you could want which is why i love the summer time.
Someone on the reviews said to get a salad there but i didn't even know there was a kitchen there because after seeing two bars i just figured it was nothing but drinks. After leaving from playing a few games i got a good laugh at the four guys hitting the punching bag game making fun of each other about how weak the other hits. I wouldn't mind coming back with a few more friends and getting a good game going. That parking lot is crazy to get out of towards the end of the night. For some reason people forget how to drive.
I love the concept of being able to bring some friends, grab a beer, and sweat out some volleyball. If you go with a group and hang outside where the sand courts are it is always a good time. However, inside you will find yourself waiting a long time for drinks, the bartenders will stand and chat with the regulars while you wait for service. If you go here, go for the volleyball, and order beers by the buckets so you dont have to wait on your waiter.
Review Source:This was a pleasant surprise as far as atmosphere for a suburban bar goes. Had a few beers with my uncle (who lives in the neighboring suburban sprawl) and wasn't impressed when I first walked in (some pool tables, dart boards, video games and bar (along with a punching bag game being fully leveraged for the typical frat-boy stereotypes showing off to each other) but when you walk through the back door - that is when this place gets awesome. A fantastic beach-theme patio with bar and a pool and further back, 10 sand volleyball courts with plenty of seating so you can get a bucket of brews and watch all the highly-competitive fun.
Totally unexpected and easy to miss. Even moreso if you don't wander out back.
I have been here a few times now and then to meet up with friends. I have had a few beers here and one of the other Yelpers' was right (Ryan B.) when he said the prices are unpredictable. I have never had the food here so I cant say anything about that but the reason for the review is because, of the outside bar. Like I said I had been here before but I have never been outside. Most of the time we hung out with a friend who was in a dart league. But, the out side area is SWEEEEEEET. Even more so on a night like last night. The outside bar is set up like a tiki bar and further back is all the v-ball courts. Its a really nice area. It would be a really cool place to hang out in the late spring when it is not too hot in Dallas. I have never had an issue with any of the servers/waiters but some of my friends have. A little too much beer can do that to you. I think I will go back on the weekend and hang out a little and see what happens.
MZ
Only go here for volleyball. Join an adult league (Google "Dallas" "sand volleyball") and it's on. Games and tournaments are played more-or-less year round. The bar, I swear, used to be a strip club. I can totally still see an entrance with a cover charge, the "main stage", and a DJ booth ("Gentlemen, for your dancing dollars, now on the main stage, Lexisssssssss!"). Anyway, I digress.
The bar prices are all over the map and totally unpredictable. One day, cheep beer. Another day, expensive beer. Don't get their pricing scheme. You don't want to make people feel they are tricked into coming back for supposed happy hour, nor do you want to make them feel like they have to memorize your drink schedule.
One really cool thing is that shoes and shirts are NOT required, not even indoors. Sweeeeet.
I do not know why I have not reviewed this place before.
I love volleyball, so of course, I love the Yucatan!
This is the best place ever for volleyball! Â Bring a towel though cos sand will become your closest friend or enemy as the case may be.
My volleyball mates and I have been known to play from 7pm to well past midnight on a weekend night.
The atmosphere is clean & friendly and very conducive for great sportsmanship and lots of F-U-N!
Even the music they play helps to enhance the entire mood just dont get smacked in the head with a ball while singing along to your favorite tunes. Â ;)!
I have never eaten here & the most I have bought from the bar is a gatorade but I gather from my own limited experience & everyone else's that the service is good.
and yeah, when its warm, bring your swimsuit.
I go here for volleyball, and only for volleyball. Â I am an American, and as an American, I find it utterly UN-AMERICAN to pay over $3 for a can of Coors/Bud/Miller Lite at a join like this. Â
The games inside are fun and the place is open and airy, but service is continuously crappy. Â Parking also sucks to the max on busy nights. Â You'll probably be parking on a mixture of nails and gravel from the quarry shop nearby, if you find a parking spot at all.
Try the Cobb salad. Â I loved it, but I was drunk and oh so proud of myself for being simultaneously inebriated and health-conscious. Â About food, at least.
Yucatan is such a great place! Â They offer great drink specials, just check out their website for all the details and pics. Â There is a good mix of friendly people out there because there is so much to do. Â During volleyball league nights, you may not get the best service, but it's such a relaxed atmosphere that you just might not care. Â If it's a rainy night- skip it- they have some leak issues! Â They offer a decent bar menu to go along with all of the activities (karoake, billiards, swimming pool, volleyball, darts, etc.). Â The best part- underdressed is the perfect attire for this place! Â Bring your swimsuit!
Review Source:Yucatan Beach Club is a great get-away in the city. Â There are a lot of fun things to do here. Â It's not a true "club" as there is no membership, you just need to be 21. Â Kids are now allowed to be on the courts with their parents (they got a new insurance provider). Â There is no cover, you just pay reasonable prices for beer and food. Â
I play on a Wednesday night volleyball league here with a small group of friends. You can sign up for leagues on their website at http://www.yucatanbeachc… for a very reasonable fee. There are about 15 well-kept beach volleyball courts out back, along with an outdoor bar, a pool, and a lot of tables to chill at. The place is full of active people playing sports like volleyball or dodgeball, or watching them every night. Great place to make new friends and socialize.
Inside, they have an indoor bar along with dart boards, pool tables, shuffle board, video games, and sometimes they even have a live band. Â The decor follows the Yucatan theme which makes me feel like I'm playing volleyball on the Isla de Mujeres near Cancun. Â Grass huts and a very casual dress code make this place very relaxing and fun.
