The hostess was not friendly. Luckily, our waitress was friendly. Expect high tourist prices for less than mediocre food. Boyfriend got the steak, which was more like a bar of salt. We are not the type of people to send food back, but we highly considered it. I got she crab soup, which was ok. I also got the mussels. It was also full of salt and overcooked.
So if you want ok service and overpriced super salty food, this might be the place for you. If you are like a normal tourist, and you want great service and fresh food with affordable prices, then look onward!!
Tourist prices and not very good service
Went to Taphouse on Thursday evening around 8:00 pm for the first time. Nice decor and pleasant ambiance. I was impressed....at first.
I sat at the bar since there was a line waiting for tables. It was crowded but there were five bartenders working the bar. None of them, though, seemed interested in serving me and my friend. They were busy talking to each other. Finally got menus and a water for me and a beer for my friend. Since they have a lot of beers on tap, I was unsure what I wanted. My mistake! Guess they figured I was only drinking water.
I've never seen a bar where they take your empty glass without asking if you want another....well not until I went to this place. They were very friendly, just not very well trained in how to service a customer.
$$$$ I could not believe the prices either! Wow, talk about gouging the tourists!!! And the locals for that matter. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
Food was okay. The pineapple jalapeno wings sounded good but had very little flavor - greatly disappointed. The Cobb Salad was very good despite it's price - the mango vinaigrette was very good. The salad looked much bigger than it actually was due to the odd shaped bowl in which it is served.
Bummer, I had such high hopes once I entered Taphouse only to be dashed by the service and HIGH PRICES.
