went here on friday night . it was absolutely DEAD .one guy really dancing, i suppose he was on molly. a few other people dancing here & there. Â i enjoyed myself anyway because of the open bar vip package we reserved in advance finally did get me buzzed . but our server connie was terrible . first of all they are very disorganized , they hadn't received our reservations from the NY 40/40 yet so it caused a great deal of trouble. we were supposed to have open premium bar and all you can eat for 3 hours.
we arrived a half hour late to start which wouldve been fine except when we arrived and got comfy on the couch (party of four) our server rushed off and didnt return. i went to the bar to order a drink after 15 minutes and was told i could not get a drink that the server had to get it for us , well where the hell was she. she then rushed over from a dark area and i ordered a round of drinks. again she disappeared, so i went back up to the bar to try to get a second round. she then came over and told me our receipts had not been received yet and we would have to pay cash for whatever we ordered ,
ummm i dont think so not when i have the charges on my bank activity not once but twice . we were told one was a hold that would drop off and had to go through all kinds of trouble during the week to get it removed when both charges went through . okay so at this point we are waiting . no drinks no food - on the couch at this deserted club .
i had to go back in the office with the big boss for about 25 mins , he was actually very helpful and worked to get the situation fixed as best he could when finally he send me back out and said he would take care of things until the receipts came through . finally i could get my drink on . he walked me out and told connie to take care of us , she did take our food order and get us another round . but she did not take care of us . as empty as the club was i expect decent service . she acted like she couldnt be bothered with us -i assume that she simply did not want the $80 tip i had origanaly set aside for the server i requested who happened to be off :( .
and for the record we are classy and not AC slum . she was just too busy talking to coworkers . smh .
anyway with one hour left to our package we finally got appetizers . within the last hour we were able to get a few more rounds of drinks mostly because i kept leaving the vip area to go find connie . what a drag . the drinks were watered down so i started to get shots and was told i can only get it on the rocks . fine . ciroc on the rocks whatever . a member of our group ordered a meal that never came . we also ordered a few drinks that our server never brought us . overall it was terrible but i was able to get a decent buzz even though the drinks seemed watered down.
the club interior was nice . thats about it . probably the only place in AC where you can here that music selection in the club . i will give this place ONE more try when the server that suggested i come is actually working .
also i wouldnt pay $13-$17 for the drinks on the menu
or the prices for those weak appetizers.
Well, it was OK, and I'm not a club person. Â It was just odd how everyone was on the stairs (or at least it looked like stairs, more like decorated bleachers) anyway, and they could barely move. Â Really, who does that, who needs to do that?! Â We came from out of town and my girl wanted to go, wasn't my choice, but hey, it's one of those "yeah, I've been there" stories I guess.
Review Source:This place is overrated. It is not a club, its a bar that just so happens to have a big space for dancing. The dj was corny, it was hot and smelt like sweat and buffalo wings. The only reason i had some what of a good time is because my friends are crazy, so we made our own fun. Im never coming back, and if you enjoyed yourself here, you definitely dont get out much.
Review Source:To charge $20 just to eat at this restaurant as a cover was ridiculous. When I made the reservation they did not tellme this.
In addition the waitress said to order a platter for $150 which would feed 10 guests. It only fed about half.
We only received 2 food menus to look at for 10 people
This place should not be a restaurant. They do not operate as a restaurant or provide good service.
Food was overpriced and portions were small.
WOW.... I always skim the past reviews to make sure I'm not bypassing anything or end up being completely left field with my experience, but this has to be an exception because I had no problems at all. Â Besides in the line-- the fact that I said to the bouncer, "I never been to the 20/20 club, how is it?".. his response "hmm.. neither have I" ... must of had Regis on the mind :P
We did get there around 11:30 and it was pretty empty until midnight hit. I mean.. the place didn't close till 4 something in the morning so thats understandable. It IS Atlantic City.
The music selection and DJ were great. Every record kept you moving all night. I actually had to take a seat b/c I was getting tired.. which hardly ever happens. In terms of the people, every one there was dressed with class and behaved like a 21+ crowd of grown people should. No White Ts or athletic wear, booty cracks, or wardrobe malfunctions.
I may consider doing the VIP section next time -- it was theater style with a full bar and dance floor upstairs. The drinks were very expensive actually. I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but I wasn't quite prepared to pay what I did for a shot. Pre-gaming is always a winner.
I would definitely go again next time I'm in AC.
Hmm.. it looks like I went the same weekend as Christopher R. ... and our experiences were 100% different. Sorry dude, maybe u were in a bad spot -- shoulda rolled with my crew (lol)
Club goers BEWARE!!
Visited this establishment new year's eve two years ago and it was a complete waste of time and MONEY...I ordered my tickets and VIP seating weeks ahead of time and ended up waiting in line so long that my husband missed the new years count down.
I was with my female cousin and my husband. Of course they separate the men and woman and I could not stand in line with my husband. The ladies line moved faster and I got in the club after 45 mins. My husband wasn't so lucky. Â He had to wait outside in the cold and rain for over a hour. Â I don't even see the need to purchase tickets ahead of time if you still have to wait forever. Â It was the most unorganized club i've ever been to. Â It was people just walking up that didn't have tickets, paid at the door and still got in before us.
Once inside the club, it wasn't as many people as I thought. Â Pretty dry if you ask me. Dance floor was empty. Â The VIP package that I ordered did come with food which was OK. The whole experince was not worth the money and they will never get any more of my money. Â I been to better "hole in the wall" clubs, paid less money, and had more fun. RIP off and just thinking about it makes me want to ask for my money back.
This place was interesting. Let's start off by saying I came here with my friends on a Friday night and arrived at about 12ish. We are a young bunch in our mid 20s. On the outside it looks like this place is really busy with all the bouncers and what not. Inside had very little people in it and a crowd that was about 35+ in age. The drinks were crazy expensive too. There was one guy dancing but in his defense I think that he was actually paid to dance there to get others hyped to dance. Very interesting crowd indeed.... Will not be back, sorry Jay-Z.
Review Source:This review should have been written a long time ago but better late than never right?? I went to 40/40 in the winter (yes i know it was sooo long ago) and I don't if that was a pat down or a female copped a feel.....But after paying the $10 cover to get in and the $5 to check my coat I was ready to leave. Â The crowd looked like locals who just needed someplace to go. Â The mix of people there was so odd and many of them just stood around doing nothing. Â And the big projector screen makes things so awkward. One minute your dancing to your favorite song and then it's like, hold up!! wow!! it's time for the top 10 plays on ESPN, we can finish dancing once I see what number one is lol Jay Z needs to do better. Â And they put a $150 charge on my bf's credit card. Â It was not removed until a week after our visit!!
Review Source:This place is always hit or miss. Â I don't know what it was last night, but the VIP Hostess was giving us a hard time, thinking we were "too drunk" to be accommodated. Â Listen here lady, we were there on a Saturday night, Memorial Day weekend, when UFC 130 was on the screen and the place was DEAD. Â Be glad you actually had something to do and we're sorry we "ruined" your day. Â We said we'd take care of you, but apparently you don't like money. Â I say good day to you! Â How one could give an attitude like that and not expect customers to lash out is beyond me.
When I was here for the Pacman-Margarito fight, it was packed as all, better atmosphere, less attitude. Â DJ kept the place movin after the fight was over.
This doesn't have to be your first option, but I guess you have to come here a few times to really get a good judgment of the place.
We actually had a great time here when we went despite the reviews. We got there really early because it was a large group of us and we had a VIP area. I pretty much got the party started around 11:00pm with the few folks that were there. Around 12-1am is when people really start coming in because the club doesn't close until 5am. I was surprised at how many people turned out considering there was a blizzard earlier that day.
Most importantly the DJ was on point that night!
I've been to this one several times so I'll write this review based off of my combined experiences. Saturday is the night to go, however there will be a $10 cover charge which is not bad at all. Drinks are pricey and watered down, but it's 40/40, don't come if you're going to be cheap. What killed me was the $5 coat check. I wish i would have left my coat in the hotel room. That's insanity. Also if you get there early when it's not packed you will freeze. The sound system needs work. They play the music too high to compensate for the lack of a good subwoofer so be prepared for ears ringing when you leave. Â In relation to its NYC counterpart, people actually come here to DANCE. Albeit some of the girls are WORKING and some were even pregnant. If you do go then BRING CASH because they took $150 OFF MY DEBIT CARD FOR THREE DAYS! THAT'S RIDICULOUS! FOR THAT I CANNOT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE! DON'T GO!
Review Source:My husband & I went there for his bday. We went on a friday night. Â The place is to expensive. The drinks were watered down. We had appetizers which i could of made myself for the price they charged us. We could of stayed at bally's and had their water down drinks which are free as long as you are gambling. The drinks & the food was to pricey. It was an experience but now we know the 40/40 is not all what people say it is. Nice to go watch a game on the big screen but that's about all.
Review Source:Before I judge this place, I heard we went on an off-night. Â My friend and I arrived around 11:30 and the place was dead. Â Let me emphasize, dead, as in approximately 15 people there. Â I am not exaggerating. Â The decor was very cool, with the tiered benches, huge TVs, and swings hanging from the ceiling. Â It would be a really fun place to watch a football game during the week. Â The lighting was a little dark, and of the 15 people who were there, I probably wouldn't befriend any of them. Â The drinks were extremely expensive, and I'm used to expensive drinks. Â My bill came to $65 for 4 drinks, and even though the receipt says gratuity not included, when I took a second look at my bill they have already added in a tip. Â Not sure what they're trying to do there... Â I'd like to think the dress code at this place is a little more fancy, but I can picture going there when it was much busier and having 95% of the girls wearing little to no clothes. Â
Sorry Jay-Z, but I don't think this club is worth rapping about.
