Not a bad place. Â I sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice. Â She offered up drink and food recommendations in line with my questions.
Had the Cheese Steak sandwich which was reasonable priced and very good as she said.
Very limited number of beers on tap and seems they focus more on mixed drinks and bottled beers which they had specials on.
I gotta say, these reviews are right on the money. Â If "middle-of-the-road, average, OK" was what I was shooting for, I'd eat here every night.
Dinner last night just happened to be on Open Mic night, which provided some much-needed entertainment. Â We got a half-order of the chicken nachos, which were good, but the accoutrements were a little light. Â We followed that up with a wedge salad, which I enjoyed, and Monterrey Chicken sandwich, that I had them blacken. Â Both items were good, but the chicken was extra-rubbery and their "chipotle lime dressing" is actually mayonnaise! Â Once I discovered this, I stopped eating it. Â I asked the server about it and the manager stopped by to address my problem. Â He apologized and only charged me for the half of the meal that I ate, which was thoughtful of him. Â When are people going to learn that "dressing" is not "mayonnaise". Â If you're a chef or restaurant owner, PLEASE always list mayonnaise as such, or at least something like "aioli". Â What if I was allergic? Â Ugh; I feel like such a dick. Â Anyway.
The fries, however, were fantastic! Â But, we probably won't go back anytime soon. Â Alas...another suburban bar that I can't eat at...
We met the parental units here for dinner on a Friday night - I was able to make a reservation so we didn't have to wait. Â They were ready for us when we got there! Â Food was good, nothing special - but good. Â Had a really good martini - mom had wine and was very happy. Â Waiter was ok - not very attentive - but nice. Â This is a great place to eat on a Friday night to avoid the craziness of most place!
Review Source:I love this place, I go there about 2 times a month, but I must comment that it needs a deep cleaning and a little touch up. The menus are so dirty, I can hardly touch them. Look like they have not been cleaned in years. They need to invest in cleaning and repairing the booths, bathroom and dining room. The Pecan Gorgonzola salad with Salmon is awesome! But I always leave feeling like I need to take a shower.
Review Source:We were looking for a local place to have dinner last night ( 9/12/11 ) when we saw Abbotts Bar & Grill. They have a patio outside as you walk up to enter the building. The interior was cozy.
I ordered the spinach & cheese stuffed meatloaf topped with gravy that came w/ grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. My fiance ordered the blackened fish tacos w/ avocado which came skilled corn. I have to say both meals were very good!
The only thing we wouldn't get the  tiramisu again, it was too soggy and the portion for the price seemed like too much. Â
I'd recommend this place and we'll be going back :)
This is a usual stomping ground for us since it's close to our work. Â Again, great service!
FOOD: Â This time I had the Seafood special which was shrimp, baby scallops, and salmon blackened on top of a bed of rice pilaf and a side of vegetables. Â I asked for it not blackened with fries which was awesome! Â It was a large portion in which I couldn't finish. Â They have a great wine selection and a full bar.
I previously reviewed Abbott's under the wrong listing...which appears to be my first mistake. Â The second? Â Going on another date here.
Since this place is close to my office we tend to hit it up for happy hour from time to time. Â There's not much else in the area, frankly, and it's always been fine. Â If it's just me and the vp, we can sit at the bar and enjoy our wine while laughing at all the cougars. Â If it's the whole group there are tables that accommodate us just as well. Â
But Thursday night when my date said he'd come over closer to my part of town I couldn't come up with anything other than Abbott's and I wish I'd tried harder. Â It's not a date place. Â Loud. Â Slow. Â Horrible live music. Â No way in hell to have a real conversation. Â Thankfully Le Mekong was next door to rescue us from this suburban hell.
This was a tough review to write as I used to be a long time patron of this restaurant (as with others they have owned previously). Â The power of social media gives us a voice, where as customers we previously we had little -- so I am going to use mine now. Â
To be fair - I will start with what I like and I miss about Abbott's - consistently good food. Â Love that they have a small plates menu too -- not tapas, just smaller portion dinner options. Â Fave appetizer's - mussel's and artichoke hearts. Â The Gorgonzola Pecan salad was my number one favorite though -- it is incredible. Great patio, and our regular server was Lisa. Â If you do decide to go, request her if she is still there - she is fantastic.
You are probably wondering then, why I would give them such a low rating. Â It is because I will never patronize a restaurant where the owner has so little regard for her customers. Â She is un-apologetically rude - so much so, it is worth it to me to lose my favorite local restaurant. Â Usually your interaction is minimal if she is on the floor - just her grim face, inability to return a smile, or a mumbled thanks when you compliment the food or your great server. The last straw for me though was a call, regarding my daughter's phone she'd left behind one night, that was escalated to her after a few attempts to call or come by and pick up. Â Apparently it had been misplaced, and all I got from her was essentially - (insert nasty tone here) look, its not here, we don't know where it is or what happened, so stop calling and get over it - she then hung up on me. Â Which everyone in my car got to hear since I was on my car's hands-free. Â I was never disrespectful or nor did I plan to ask for anything, as frankly it was my daughter's fault for leaving it in the first place. Â The problem is I never got the chance to say a thing. Â But I did get to take my business away. Â If you can live with that, have at it - for me, no thanks.
This is the prime time, hot spot hang out for well-to-do empty nesters. Â No offense if you're a parent with an empty nest, but this is the type of crowd you'll typically see on any given night at Abbott's Bar & Grill. Â I'm not knockin' it at all - I actually really enjoy the laid back atmosphere. Â It's like a Houston's Restaurant in John's Creek.
The food is always consistently good and fresh. Â This past week I enjoyed their Gorgonzola Pecan salad with blackened chicken, and I devoured it and let no last pecan standing. Â A friend and I shared the Spinach Artichoke Dip, and what a good call it was. Â Not too salty, warm and creamy, and there were a ton of large chunks of artichokes. Â I've also tried their mussels and a sandwich and have always walked away pleased.
I like the menu because there are good yet simple variety of options, not too overwhelming, mostly good 'ole fashioned American food along with some seafood. Â The staff and servers are always pretty wonderful - attentive and kind. Â We had a few individuals visit our table this past week and ask if we were enjoying our dinner - great customer service.
Another great thing I like about Abbott's is their outdoor patio (although looking out onto 141 is not the greatest view) and their live music. Â Check out their web site for a calendar of live events. Â It's a happenin' place!
I went here for a paid work dinner tonight, and it's a good thing too because I would've been an unhappy camper if I had to pay for that food myself. Â The stuff on the menu sounded good, such as the stuffed meatloaf, shrimp and grits, crab cakes, 8oz filet in a wine reduction sauce, etc. Â Also the prices of the dishes were that of decent food, most were $15 or more. Please, don't let the descriptions and prices fool you like they fooled me! Â
Initially, I was going to try the stuffed meatloaf, however, I decided to go safe, and I ordered the 8oz filet. Â How can you go wrong with a filet, right? Â Well, it seems as though you can go wrong with a filet at Abbot's. Â The steak was dry and very difficult to chew; this tenderloin was far from being tender. Â I thought it was only my steak, but other people at the table who ordered the filet had the same complaint. Â Also, the steak came with a "wine reduction sauce," however, my sauce had the flavor and consistency of fruit jelly. Â It was too sweet and not good. Â My sides were asparagus and sauteed spinach (typically it comes with mashed potatoes). Â The spinach was sauteed with garlic and something that tasted like vinegar. Â This was the first time I've had sour sauteed spinach, and it was quite unpleasant.
The gorgonzola salad was just ok, nothing to get excited about. Â It was a plate of mixed greens with crumbled gorgonzola and candied nuts with balsamic dressing on the side. Â This salad could've definitely been better with some cut up fresh pears or strawberries or dried cranberries. Â It was missing that hint of fruity sweetness. Â What a shame. Â
Another shameful part of my dinner was the dessert. Â I had the brownie a la mode. Â How could anyone mess up brownie a la mode? Â Abbot's can! Â The brownie was lukewarm and dry, a total waste of my calories. Â I also had a bite of my co-worker's blueberry cobbler, which was actually more like a blueberry cake and not a cobbler. Â So sad! Â
The somewhat appetizing part of the dinner was the appetizer, Spinach dip. Â It wasn't the best spinach dip I've had, but it was edible. Â I actually think it was supposed to be a spinach artichoke dip. Â There were some larger chunks of something in the dip, which I believe and hope were artichokes. Â Hm...
I don't think I'll be visiting Abbot's again even if it's free. Â It's not worth the money or the calories.
The large patio in front was great and perfect with tonights weather. The seats were really comfy as well, although a little too low from the table. They had a fairly large selection of beers and wine. Inside looked really nice and classy as well. I had the Abbotts Cheesburger which was awesome. Big and juicy on a soft bun and covered in thick slices of cheddar. The fries were crispy and spiced just right. Â I kept seeing plates walk by with crab cakes on them, I'll have to get that next time. My burger, my wides salad, a beer and a coke was all $30 - not too bad. The menu selection was fairly small, but so far above average on taste. We'll be back again
Review Source:Okay, we went because we had a coupon thingy.
It was alright but I won't go back again (even with a coupon).
We split a bottle of red that was okay, but what sticks out in my memory is how I requested a steak medium well and I got a charred, cancer causing artifact instead (really - it wasn't even a shade of pink inside - ech).
A good reminder of why I keep driving 25-30 miles from Cumming in town to get a decent meal.
