AM I ADDICTED?
3/5
This club was once crazy box and now it is Addiction. Â I love the name of the club and that was one of the reasons why I wanted to check it out. Â I came here for several occasions; bottle service, to dance, for an event or Elements. Â Each experience was fairly similar and I enjoyed myself by the time I left. Â For clubs, my checklist goes like this: 1. Music 2. Dance Floor 3. Lights 4. Class 5. Drinks.
COVER: $10 Girls $20 Boys
DRESS CODE: Nice clubbing clothes. Â Everyone seems to come here all dressed up, women in dresses or skirts with sandals and men in dark long pants, nice shoes and button downed shirts. Â They do not let in guys in shorts and slippers. Â I saw them turn someone away.
1. Music: The music is really good here. Â They play a good mix of hip hop, house and top 40s. Â The live DJ on Thursdays and Fridays is amazing. Â I seriously seem to always enjoy the music here and always ended up dancing. Â Great Music for a night out dancing. (1/1)
2. Dance Floor:  The dance floor is small, but it is centered  (which is what I like).  I love that people are not walking through the dance floor, it normally annoys me when the dance floor is in the walkway to the bathroom or to the bar.  Since the floor is small, it does get really packed. (1/1)
3. Lights: The lights here are OK. Â I love the ceiling of glass looking balls. Â Makes the place very modern and unique. Â The balls make you feel like you are looking up at a sky of colorful bubbles. Â The bubbles reflect the lights and adds more character to the lack of dance lights.(.5/1)
4. Class: I feel like they try too hard to make this place "Exclusive." Â They always make people wait and there's always a huge line because they take their time to let people slowly in. Â It's not like they are so busy or it is super packed, but they lack in service to the people in line. Â The hostess or check in girl never smiles and looks so snobby. Â She always seems mad. Â By the time we get up after waiting in line, it's like half empty. Â If they are holing us back for the safety of the stairwell traffic, then they should have someone monitoring the stairwell. Â As of now, I think they make us wait to make the place look like it's busy. (0/1)
5. Drinks: The drinks upstairs in the club are pricey, very pricey so I would recommend you taking a couple shots at front door. Â $5 Shots. Â They normally only have a few types of alcohol, but I can't complain with a $5 shot. Â First Round on ME!!!! (.5/1)
Addicted? No, but it's an overall nice place to not run into everyone on the island. Â I rarely run into people I know so it's a good breather. Â The good music and centered dance floor is a perfect place for a night out of dancing. Â Overall, if the lady at the front door just changes her attitude and they were more quicker at letting people, this place could get a higher rating. Â As of now 3.5 seems about right.
Gahhhh, I really don't care for this nightclub.
Pros:
+ Very modern looking (haha it's in the Modern Hotel); nice decor
+Lounge area that's separate from the actual club/dance floor
+Free valet parking with tip
Cons:
-Loooong @$$ line that HARDLY moves
-Expensive drinks
-Always overly crowded
-Being located in Waikiki, it's a bit touristy, which might be a Pro if you like that kind of environment.
-Cover: $10 for girls, $20 for guys, though you can bypass that by knowing a promoter.
I'll have to say though, that my #1 complaint and why I always dread coming here is that stinkin' LINE.
The problem is that because the club is always way over capacity, people can only be let in when other people in the club leave. Â And there's 3 lines: one bottle service line, one guest list line, and one general admission line. Â People standing in the bottle service line are given first priority, so people in the guest list/general admission line won't be let in until the bottle service line is clear. Â And people in the general admission line won't be let in until the guest list line is clear. Â So basically, people in general admission are at the bottom of the totem pole, and won't be let in unless the two other lines are empty....which hardly EVER happens. Â Expect to wait anywhere from 30-60 minutes in that line. Â That's a loooong time in heels, ladies!
Bottom line: Either know a promoter, get bottle service, expect to wait forever, or SKIP IT.
The bottle servers are decent but the security and door management have no respect for the customers. Â I have had bottle service here at least 15 times, and I would not recommend going unless you have bottle service. Â Be aware that some of the servers will add on an automatic tip of 20 percent and not disclose this at the time of check delivery. Thursday, industry night is the only night worth your time. Â The cover charge is $20 and the drinks are overpriced for the average customer. Â The crowd at the Study is much more attractive and pleasant, I would stick to that.
Review Source:I went there yesterday and i was very annoyed at how they manage the club. Â The girls in the front are sassy. Â They charge high admission, so it is mostly men inside. Â I would say there was 10 men for every 1 girl, what lady is gonna pay to go there? Â My friend had a vip table with three bottles and i had to deal with each security gaurd trying to extort payments from us calling his area "my door". Â Weird. Â Creepy vibe, opportunistic staff. Â Â If you have some money and you wanna have a good time, don't go addiction, they will make you feel like a fool. Â I can't believe that the modern hotel is affiliated with addiction night club.
Review Source:Went here the other week for bottle service with a small group and it was a pretty awesome time.
Pros: Nice tables, awesome ambiance, decent and respectful crowd, good music half the time (obviously subjective).
Cons: The dude kept taking away drinks right in front of our faces in order to waste our drinks.. I understand if it has been sitting for awhile but that is just silly.. not professional.
Bottles are on the pricey side ($250-300/ea.) so come with a generous mindset. I would come back here again.
If you want a place where you can't move, where you have to wait 30 mins to make it to the front of the bar to get a drink, then Addiction is the place to go! Seriously, this place is tiny. Expect to be nut to butt the whole night. If you think bottle service is your way out if this misery, try again. The back tables area has uncomfortable seats, where you can barely sit back. It's crowded, and dirty. The service is terrible. Expect to be pouring your own drinks all night. Lastly, the pictures on the projector and flyers r weird as fck. Crack pipe looking girls. It's like their stuck in the 90s "heroin chic" era. If that's your style, then again, Addiction is your spot.
Review Source:This is by far the best club I've been to...the music is awsome thanks to Dj Anit! It's smaller than most clubs I've been to,but the music, crowd and atmosphere is all good.
Get there early around 1030-1100pm, if you get in line after 1230 you'll be waiting  for about an hour to get in, but it's definitely worth the wait.
Visited on a Friday night, June 15, 2012 (sorry, long overdue review!)
You enter an urban, hip, artsy space: concrete floor, black walls and ceiling, graffiti bat (or spider or something) and flowers...
The dance floor is compact, and it gets packed before you know it. Â The VIP section is in the back, and you need your wristband to enter. Â It was our first night on the town, so we opted for bottle service there. Â The couches were comfortable, the sound level not so high that you couldn't hold a conversation with the person next to you. Â There was ample room here and there along the couches and against the elevated wall to dance for the girls, and the crowd was a good mix of (cauc+)asians.
After a few drinks we decided to scope out the main dance floor -- packed with sweaty people, and the girl/guy ratio wasn't the best. Â We spotted two JDM by the bar (Japanese Domestic Product), but I was too buzzed to conjure up a decent Japanese conversation. Â That didn't stop me from getting them to follow us back to the VIP area... except we got stopped by the VIP security and informed us that the girls needed wristbands to get in. Â Lame! Â What's the point of a VIP area if you can't bring girls back??
Oh well, we left the girls and mingled with the other 2 tables of girls out celebrating. Â The crowd was very chill, willing to drink along and chat it up. Â I enjoyed my time there, but would not go back unless I was willing to spend money on a table. Â I don't remember the music much, but I don't remember disliking the DJ.
TLDR (too long, didn't read): packed spot with decent music, but go only if you can get a bottle
Ok..where to start. Â Came here last week for my birthday with my friends who flew in from cali. Â When we booked the booth they said 6 people per bottle for $300.00 each. Â Thought this club was a highend club that would treat their paying customers right. Â I wanted to show my friends from cali a good time in Hawaii since this was their first time. Â I bought 3 bottles which they charged me $100.00 gratuity per bottle. Â So the whole total was $1,200.00. Â In addition, they said there would be enough people for 18 people. Â NOW THIS IS WHERE IT WENT WRONG. Â Came in the club there was only room for 8 people and they got the bottles i ordered wrong. Â When i asked why isnt there enough room and our bottles wrong. Â The unclassy hostess said that this is what order we got and 18 people dont sit down they dance and it is 5 people per bottle. Â WOW talk about a unprofessional business who dont care about paying customers. Â Then another group came in to the VIP area across from us who knew the hostess. Â How i knew..she was giving hugs and kisses to all the people. Â They ordered one bottle and there were atleast 12 people for one bottle. Â Get out of here. Â I guess the owner dont care about making money. Â We were prepaired to get more bottles and buy out the place, but this place is a joke and not worth coming back or spending money. Â Word of advice to the owner, change your staff and step up your VIP area because your service sucks and your VIP is CRAP.
Review Source:Listen, if you're looking for a dance club with fine ass well-dressed women Addiction is it.
Addiction = tiny. I always try to come early and have a round with my girlfriends in Lobby Bar (downstairs) then head up to dance.
The music is always on point, the place fills up, everyone gets a little wild, the chicks deliver, & the waitresses are sexy.
Bottle Service ~ always request a front/ dance floor table ~ More Action
The reason I am writing this review is, because of the disappointing and horrible service we got here. We came and chose this place with high expectations and was serviced with lazy workers that with out a doubt, are only great at hustling you for your money. First off I gave this place a one star rating, because that was my only option, otherwise I would have given it a .5 star, MAYBE.
We started off the night celebrating our friend's birthday at The M and bar hopped to the addiction and to be honest, that was a HUGE mistake. My friend had bought bottle service at both places and the service at The M vs The addiction was night and day. I don't know about any of you, but if we're dropping bills on bottle service I EXPECT to be serviced and that's exactly what The addiction DID NOT DO. WE BOUGHT BOTTLE SERVICE, BUT JUST GOT THE BOTTLES AND NO SERVICE.
I had to chase some servers down to refill our chasers, one of my girlfriends was the one pouring our drinks and shots, and the tables were not busted quick enough. But the hostesses for sure knew how to open bottles once our bottles were emptied. I can't knock them for it, because hey, they were doing their job. Hustle the intoxicated and slap them with a huge bill to make a little extra or maybe to meet the the quota for the night.
And that's not all, we were told that the club closes at 3 am and we got kicked out at 200am. Okay, I get you guys close up shop when the crowd dies down, but the way security told us to leave was very unprofessional. He tells our crowd graciously "you guys gotta get the $%€¥ out" seriously? For starters, we thought we had the place until 3am and didn't know they were going to close early, a heads up would have been nice. Instead, he was very unprofessional about the entire situation. I get it, you dealt with drunk people all night, but our group was not giving you a hard time at all. Was that vulgar language really necessary?
The place was very nice and upscale, however if you want better service and don't want to feel like sardines go elsewhere.
The only club I went to that came close to an upscale club. Â Also, the only club that played decent house music. Â The crowd is diverse but the space is very small. Â Get there early because there is a line, unless you want to tip the bouncer to get in. Â Drinks are on the expensive side for the island 10-15 range. Â If you're looking for an upscale club on the island I would def recommend.
Review Source:This club could be good. Â The music is GREAT! DJ Anit rocks this place. Â However, whenever I go, on a Friday or Saturday it gets crazy packed. Â The room is literally a box like its prior name. Â I don't like that drinks get spilled on you every where and that sweaty people are all around rubbing up against you. Â Even in the VIP section there is way too many people.
I've heard Thursday night is less crowded, but I work Fridays! Â The drinks are pricey for $12 a mixed drink. Â I don't mind it though cause they do make it on the stronger side. Â I do come here since my friends do but I really don't like the weirdos that go there since it is in Waikiki.
The Music is a 4 star though and the cool cieling and bar is neat, but the sweaty people packed in like sardins and drinks all over the place is no bueno.
I recommend parking in the back of Ilikai. Â It's a $1 an hour which is game!
Okay I'm an old fogie when it comes to clubbing. Well let's just say I have done much clubbing in my day and the thought of being squeezed into a club rubbing on the sweaty shoulders of the person next to you and paying for one drink that amounts to an entire six pack is not my idea of fun (anymore). We celebrated my sis-in-law's birthday at the club. Oh what a night!
We pre-partied at a restaurant before and although I was ready to go home by midnight since I would be missing my bedtime but I trucked on for my sis-in-law. My husband and bro-in-law shared the cost of bottle service. Goodness! Let's just say thank goodness they did not charge cover for us as we could probably get into that club for the rest of the year if we went every weekend. They tried placing us right near the entrance on an embarrassing stump that barely fit the bottle, two glasses, and a candle. Hell no. We asked for more cups. They gave us a stack of clear plastic cups. Really? We requested a better area and got the back room. Thank goodness, this grandma could not handle the crowd of twenty somethings.
It was fun but I was done after my really stiff first drink of vodka with a splash of cranberry or redbull. I'm not so sure what it was because I thought I could blow fire from my mouth if I had a flame. I was ready for a nap and I needed my walker and my bed. I was donzo's. Danced a little bit, watched the youngin's play, and reminisced about my wild times when booty dancing was awesome. Awwwww! It was so nice to not have to care about life or my reputation.
Anyway it was an okay experience. Completely overpriced though. Music was odd. I wish they played more old school stuff as they teased me with some LL Cool J and Nelly and then continued playing dubstep for the rest of the night. Sad. Like I said, not a very valid review from an old-retired-from-the-club-hag.
It is a small club very close to Hilton Hawaiian Village. Â And it was the most packed club i have ever been in my life! I mean Where ever you move you touch some flesh. Dark tanned, firm and glamorous flesh mmmm :)
Missing one star because bouncers are all idiots. and it cost  $20 to get in
this place is tiny and $$$, but what else would you expect from a club in the middle of waikiki? went for a friend's bday and decided it would be fiscally smart to get bottle service, seeing as it included cover and they wanted $10 per wahine and $20 per kane. a bottle of stoli and mixers was $250. make no mistake - this place is small - and the eight of us had to cram into our table. it was still the best way to go because we actually got to sit down and i don't think you can otherwise. am I sounding old yet?
truth be told that I'm in my 30s and don't make it to the clubs often - you certainly would never find me in zanzibar. but, this place isn't filled with youngins and the crowd was generally fun (and good looking).
the DJ played a good mix and we were jamming out on the dance floor before long. it was a fun place to let loose and a good excuse to actually wear a dress and heels. I'll probably be back, especially if I can bypass the cover.
Ugh, very overrated. I've had some fun nights here, back when it was Craxybox (and formerly had no cover, which made standing in line and dealing with rude door girls almost tolerable). But the last few times I've been here, the only positive thing I have to say about this place is that it has an AWESOME sound system and DJ. Other than that, the door girls are rude and annoying with their clipboards (even if you are getting Bottle Service), the line is long (understandable when it's 1am and crowded, but when it's 11pm and empty??). Security sucks, I saw someone get knocked out and security was nowhere to be seen. Overpriced drinks ($7 for "well" vodka?). I'm wasn't impressed, and am usually annoyed the entire night when I've been dragged here. But at least they had good music!
PS. I emailed them a week ago in regards to possibly throwing a bachelorette party there, and no one has gotten back to me. Thank You Pearl and The M for you prompt responses! I was more than happy to cross this off the list of potential spots.
AVOID THIS PLACE ESPECIALLY IF YOUR MILITARY. Â DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND WELL EARNED MONEY.
I have never been to this place before, not even when it used to be called CrazyBox. Â To get into addiction was a nightmare. Â It was $20 for cover which I think is crazy high for a cover charge, but whatever, we paid it. Â We ended up getting bottle service because my husband and his company just came back from deployment so why not spend some money on alcohol. Â Also because the bar was PACKED and it was at least a 15 minute wait just to put in a order for your drink.
I have gotten bottle service before from other clubs and I must say this bottle service was by far the WORST bottle service ever! Â We spent almost $2000 in bottles to have crap service. Â The hostesses were VERY rude. Â You'd think that after spending almost $2000 that they will treat you like VIP like any other place who serves bottle service. Â They never checked up on us to refill chasers and what not. Â They just came back to see if we wanted more bottle then left. Â RUDE! Â
The bouncers there are HORRIBLE. Â We ended up getting kicked out because some of us were a little too drunk, which is understandable. Â I just don't understand why they couldn't just kick us out and walk away. Â Instead of walking away the bouncers started unnecessary conflict and ended up causing injuries to our party (which ended up an ER visit).
Like I said, don't even bother going to this club. Â There are better clubs on the island that it worth your money. Â This place doesn't even deserve a star.
I have never wanted to give such a horrible review of a place until now. I wish we could give negative stars.
Background: This is my first time back since it was CrazyBox. Management has changed and therefore so have all the employees. I was never a big fan of the former staff, they still treated you like cattle, but i have never strongly disliked actually hated, so many human beings who work together then I currently do at Addiction.
Upon Entrance: We had made reservations for a table with VIP bottle service for two bottles for my friends birthday. We finally make it through the crowd waiting to the VIP line and make it in about 8 minutes later. We lose a group member to a expired ID. I'm in the industry and can respect and understand this judgment call. So we are then herded to our table.
No welcoming greetings or anything. Simply, "go get your VIP stamp... follow him" So we are herded to our table.... next to 4 other tables crammed into a sickly small space... (are you kidding me?) 2 minutes later we are greeted by a female server, We kindly request to be relocated. Her response is, "We are sold out, here's the menu and tell me what you want to drink, i'll be back".... um ok. Thanks for the bitchy attitude and lack of any kind of accommodations or even something as simple as kindness!
Long story short, My friend who literally spits out this shot of patron, thinking it was the grey goose gets kicked out for 'throwing up and being too drunk" We have been at this table for LITERALLY 10 minutes and that was our first drinks! I follow my friend out to come to her defense. First off the only person who saw her 'throw up' was me. I asked our server for a towel and she ASSUMED she had thrown up and grabbed a bouncer who FORCEFULLY lifts my completely sober friend and honestly shoves her out of the club. When leaving I kindly ask for the manager to come as soon as possible. His name is Chris and he is the worst manager i have ever encountered in all my life from both working in the restaurant industry to being serviced in any kind of industry. The definition of a POMPOUS A** who feels the need to demean women! I could not believe some of the things he said to me. I have never felt like such an object when calmly trying to state my case on our current situation. i am honestly looking for a secondary legal action to be taken against this male chauvinistic pric with the TEN witnesses i acquired in the front of the club.
How did this conversation end? Oh well with the fire marshalls coming and almost fining the place apparently because they were past capacity. (Isn't that why you count how many people are coming in out of the club with ur stupid clicker thing morons?) As a result a vast majority of the club leaves by 1:30. We are stuck outside while they do this evacuation from 1 to 1:30. Then are allowed in to find 6 people, non of us have ever meant, drinking all of our bottles. Wow did we not say the table were awkwardly close!?!
In short not a single person was able to rectify our situation until 1:50am a man name Adrian, also a manager, was not only remorseful for our RUINED party but also extremely apologetic. Which is about 1,000 times more then i can say for any of the other staff at Addiction. However, he is not too high on the food chain to really be able to rectify this kind of an outrageous situation
Every night i work people ask me where to go out to after their dinner. I will for now and forever tell people to avoid this place like the plague unless u have some sick desire to be treated like scum and drop 800 bucks on bottle service u never ever will experience. THIS PLACE IS TRASH!!!!
Horrible place to go. I got in for free because of my friends , but a ridiculous $20 cover charge. Beer is way too expensive (Corona was $7). The lady at the front looked like a biatch and gave attitude responses. She told one of the girls with a mean face "Who put you on the list?" It shouldn't matter who put you on the list as the name is on the list. There is no where to sit if you aren't the high roller special people. There is only standing room only and people keep hitting you with their elbows and hands. The person that works there just kept hitting you if you were in his way. I will never ever go back!
Review Source:This club was ok. The music was good but the drinks were expensive. I ordered a sex on the beach and it was 10 dollars. Also the bartender didn't know how to make a drink. It tasted like a lot of junk alcohol and a little juice. Would go again to this club but I would have to think about it more.
Review Source:A bunch of peeps visiting, so I thought we'd head out. Based on how many people who were staying in Waikiki...I thought this would be the spot based off a friends recommendation of where to go this past Saturday. Â Hit up the club early in the morning about bottle - thinking we'd be getting there pretty late on a Saturday. Â so they tell me 2 bottle minimum for 10 people, and we'd have ample space on our table for our group. Â 2 bottle is no problem for our group to finish, and I figured they'd easily on number 4-5 by the end of the night. Â So we get there, and there's 3 tables to a lounge, and we're given 2 of the tables (which barely fits everyone). Â Another group gets that 1 table, then tries to stick 12 people in there. Â I had to clarify that with our hostess, and she did an excellent job to smooth it out I think. Â So 3 stars to our Hostess. Â
As for a club itself: the music is ok. i'm a fan of the decor. Â If you're trying to be a mainland-type club - then go all the way. Â Don't charge these prices and fall short on the service. Â I left after the first bottle was done, and I know the rest of the group hit another spot after bottle 2 was done.
DEETS
Addiction Nightclub, infamously known as its former self Crazy Box, is located in The Modern Honolulu (hotel). The club doesn't have a sign or anything, but everyone just kind of knows where it is... It's pretty much the only open door on that side of the building that isn't by the lobby entrance area. And there's usually a couple of ID checkers standing around..
PARKING
There a few parking options for those of you control freaks who need to drive (like me) and DDs:
1 - parking garage by Red Lobster is a flat $7 rate for club goers
2 - Valet
3 - metered parking lining the rear of the hotel
I always opt for option 1 bc valet isn't really my thing. However, if I'm staying at The Modern, Valet is the only option... And it's FREE for Kama'aina hotel guests.
DECOR
The decor fits in nicely with the rest of the hotel. It's very "modern" and clean. Simplicity reigns high in this place. There are some risqué and/or nude photographs projected on the walls, but most seems somewhat tastefully done--no porn--more like Abercrombie & Fitch Mag style. I don't mind.
MUSIC
The music is always great! They've got a nice mix of dance and upbeat tracks with enough pop and familiarity to make 'em likable.. The tracks are "fresh," unlike at some of the other clubs around that play the same 5 radio-play songs. Hah.
BAR
The bartenders are AWESOME and the pour is always generous.
THURSDAYS
Thursdays are my favorite nights bc the place isn't as packed as Fridays or Saturdays. There's room to dance, drink, and laugh with friends.
VERDICT
Addiction Nightclub has won me over. I know I wasn't a fan of Crazybox, but my reasons are totally valid. And I know the decor is pretty much the same from its Crazybox days, but the crowd is much better. And the "feel" of the place is much more welcoming and just better all around.
Yelp 365 - #248/365
Went with a group of 8 Saturday night. Â We were not on the list and it was already pretty late probably around 12 or later (kind of a last minute decision after late dinner and a few drinks at Sansei). Â At first they wouldn't let us in because there was a long line, the club was at capacity. Â Undaunted we said we would buy bottle service if they let us in. Â So we went to lobby bar to wait and and checked back after one drink. Â Then they let our group in.
$275.00 for a bottle of Patron. Â I guess that is pretty standard. Â Only one star down because the table they put us at was all the way in the back. Â There was a pretty good mix of people though, and I like that. Â The music was pounding and a good time was had by all. Â I would come back if we had a big enough group of people to spread the cost of bottle service:)
we got in on a saturday night around 10 (no line) Â and it was filling up inside..although not sardine like. couple people were dancing..not a gigantic dance floor but isnt tiny either. crowd was semi dress to impress..although i'm sure you can roll up in sandals (for girls). also seemed like an older crowed. drinks are xpensive as usual. music was house mixed with trance/techno but was definitely dance-able.
we walked out of the club around 1130 and already there was a line out front.
would go there again if there is no cover. $20 for guys, $10 for girls
I wanted to try somewhere different from the usual clubs that I would go to and I heard good things about Addiction.
Parking- theres valet which is free with validation and you just gotta tip
or  we parked by Kaiser bowl, the paid lot there. $1 an hour. Totally great parking deals.
Know the promoters and you can get in for free. If not its $20 for guys and $10 for girls. if you're like me, I refuse to go if I gotta pay unless I know its really really worth it.
I lucked out, my friend got me on the list.
I definitely liked the music. Being in the club and the atmosphere reminded me of clubbing in vegas. The music, the prices of the drinks, and the variety of people. It was really fun.
The fancy:
when you walk in, theres a nice painting on the wall of the Angry Woebot. Then when you enter the club, look up to the ceiling and you'll see that its filled with lightbulbs artistically. Across the bar are huge screens playing videos (The night we went they were showing LMFAO in Marquee, Vegas.)
My only main complaints:
1. The drinks were inconsistent. One bartender gave us really little and the second gave us almost a double shot. For about $10 a shot, I'd hope its almost a double shot all the time.
2. The space is rather too small. Max capacity can hit really easily
Once it reaches max capacity, if you leave the club, you won't be let in again unless space clears up laterrrrr on.
It is probably best to park across the street because it was a flat rate of $7, besides that you can try to valet which is free if you get it validated inside but you have to pay tip. Â
Got to the door and it was $20 for guys $10 for females, which sucked for me. Â Probably would be best to know a promoter or someone that can get you on the list so you don't have to pay that price. Â
Inside, the place was laid out pretty well. Â The glass ball ceiling is different but unique. Â This place is not that big but it is open enough to have a good size dance floor. Â When I went the DJ was spinning top 40 which needs to be updatedor play more recent hits I heard tracks from a few months back. Â It is more of a dress to impress kind of place but I did notice some guys in shorts.
The bathroom here is one of the cleaner ones I have been to so far here. Â It is chic with an open but separate concept for the sink and mirrors. Â
In my opinion if you have a big enough group (6 I think is the limit) it might be best to do bottle service as drinks can run you between $8-$16 per. Â Bar staff are pretty attentive to who is waiting. Â Even heard a bartender tell a female, that just got to the bar and ordered right away, "hey, I will get you once I get these other folks first"
Overall I like this place, reminds me of some clubs back home in Chicago, but just like Chicago, cover and drinks are steep.
went for a yelp event and free specialty drinks by Honolulu's top 3 mixologists!! it was ahhhhhhhmazing!! One person was from nobu, the other i don't remember, and the third was from addiction and the home bartender was the best one I think. The drinks were sooooooooooooo soooooo tasty!!! I don't know how much drinks normally cost, but even if it was 15 bucks a pop, I would still buy it.. it was THAT good!
The space is pretty neat, I liked the bubble glass ceiling with light bulbs intricately placed amongst the sea of glass. The bathrooms are super chic and it's just a very nice space overall (lighting isn't too dark nor is it too bright.. it's just.. right).
This is definitely a place to take someone coming in to visit!
I like this club a lot. I'm from Long Beach and the crowd really feels like an LA crowd.
The catch is, you definitley need to be cool enough to know a promoter to get on the guestlist. If you get on the list, than the doors open, the crowds part.
If not, expect to wait outside until you decide it's a no-go.
I went for the President's DJ Echo event and had a sick time. Came early, the women were lovely, the music was real good.
Addiction will definitely be a part of my nightlife rotation.
Addiction seriously needs to rethink their VIP Bottle service. Â If you are going to be so strict with the pricing and the amount of people per wooden stump (not a table by definition) there should be some element of VIP status associated with the service. Â The VIP tables were roped off but no security was done to prevent anyone from walking into the VIP tables...ruins the integrity of Addictions VIP Bottle service. Â I understand that this isn't Vegas but other nightclub/lounges locally do VIP Bottle Service way better.
Review Source:Crazybox/Addiction is nice venue with great music. Â I love that it has more house/techno than other dance clubs, but with some Top 40/remixed Top 40 as well. Â
The interior is quite nice - the ceiling is decorated with effervescent glass bubble lights and the "bleachers" have been converted to bottle service booths. Â The bathrooms are nice (I think there are 4 stalls for the ladies). Â Best of all, there's a big bench in there to sit on when your heels are killing you. Â However, if you're having trouble seeing straight, make sure you go to the correct side: ladies on the left, guys on the right!
My only gripe is the price. Â $20 cover for guys and $10 cover for LADIES? Â Come on now. Â Not to mention that you'll be paying $8-$14/drink once you get inside. Â We got lucky because we knew someone inside who was getting bottles, so we didn't pay for anything. Â But if you're going on a normal night and don't know anyone inside, do yourself a favor - come *prepared.*
Hours: Thursday-Saturday from 10:30 pm - 3 am.
I wasn't much into Crazybox after they made it so damn difficult to celebrate my birthday there last year, but I'm absolutely willing to give this place another try after two great weekends in a row at Addiciton.
The first weekend I went was prior to the grand opening; one of my girlfriends and I were staying in Waikiki and were a block or so away, so we walked over from our hotel. Â The $10 cover wasn't so disheartening as there are quite a few places that charge the same amount, and there wasn't a line, so that was a plus. Â We were greeted at the bar by now my favorite bartender ever (Johnny!), who made us $12 Grey Goose crans. Â Having been to Crazybox, I expected the drink prices to be a bit much, but for the amount of liquor I got I was happy (I'd say it was at least 1/2 vodka or more). Â Our shots were super sized as well; possibly because they were chilled? Either way, a few drinks each and we were ready to dance. Â The music was great; top 40, old school hip-hop, electro, dance, all rolled into an awesome few hours of gettin' down! Â Never heard the same song twice, never stopped dancing (except for a quick trip to the ladies' room).
The second weekend was after the grand opening had passed; I found the reservations email online earlier in the week, got my confirmation from Karl within 30 minutes of sending him a few names for the guest list, and waited patiently for Friday night to roll around. Â Same quick entrance at the door (we got there around 11pm), same smiling face waiting for us at the bar (once again Johnny, you are the best!), and same great experience the whole night through.
It comes down to this -- don't want to wait in line? EMAIL THEM! It doesn't seem like it's a closed reservations list, and at least if you try and they don't answer, you can still walk up. Â WIth Crazybox, I never heard of cover charge being an option. Â Don't want to pay a bunch for drinks? PREGAME! Everyone still has that 21-year old shiesty kid in them somewhere. Â And lastly, a little bit of friendliness goes a long way. Â The more attitude you have at a place like this, the less likely it is that you're going to be treated well.
The Nightmare of Crazybox is over!
Or is it? This weekend was the opening weekend for Addiction, the latest incarnation of the nightclub located inside The Modern (previously The Edition) hotel. Not much has changed though, it's ultra-exclusive. You can get on the guestlist if you know someone there or are a hotel guest, otherwise cover it $20 for the men and $10 for the ladies.
Sundays, the guestlist is completely open, all you have to do is send a request to <a href="mailto:reservations@addictionnightclub.com">reservations@addictionni…</a>.
As it isn't Sunday yet, I can't tell you how that will go. When this place was Crazybox, whoever was in charge of the guestlist never replied to e-mails and was the source of long waits in front of the club. Hopefully improvements have been made on this part. My experience with the guestlist last night was a little lackluster, mostly because the hostess needed a flashlight. Hopefully someone buys her a led flashlight with someone's $20 cover! But I'm not holding that against them, it was opening weekend afterall.
The interior made a few minor changes and one big change. Minor change: projected images on the walls. Major change: removal of the bleacher/platform/impromtu-dance-floor. They replaced the platforms that used to be there with private booths. I'm not really a big fan of this change as it's a dance driven environment with limited space; getting rid of that space and turn it into a "social area" where you can't hear each other seems like a terrible idea.
The music was fantastic - great house music was pumpin and the bourgeois/vip crowd was lively. Most of the people here could definitely bust a move. At $7 a beer and $10 a cocktail - pricing and quality of drinks has not changed. These are well made drinks, but I'd rather get the fantastic molecular gastronomic drinks downstairs in the lobby bar first for the same price.
Next time I come, it'll definitely be more of an afterparty situation rather than the place I start my night.
