I had higher hopes. Didn't feel too thrilled. Place was nice inside, with various flat screen tvs around. I felt like the prices were a little higher than the food warranted. Split a 10' deep dish chicken bbq pizza with my friend. It was tasty, but on the small side, and I don't feel it was worth $13.99. My friend got a side salad, has some croutons, a few small dices of tomato, a little shredded cheese, and a couple of small strips on red onion. It cost $4.99! Nothing about it was worth that much. Too bad, I was hoping to find a close place I would like to return to. Unfortunately, this is not that place.
Review Source:We've been to Alibi's several times, and always enjoy the food and service. Â Last Wednesday, we went to eat and play "trivia." Â A really good time. I had the Waco burger - cooked perfectly, and the service was very attentive. Â Trivia was good fun, with about 6 teams playing. Â We started 5th and finished 5th. Â This is good food, good service, and good fun on a Wednesday night.
Review Source:We recently visited this long-standing northeast side institution. Â My sole prior stop here was about nineteen years ago for a business lunch date. Â Our schedule took us to that area, so we gave it try. Â
The focus is the bar that's hemmed  by two tiers of dining tables.  Half of the dining area is reserved for non-smokers and the ventilation system kept the most noxious fumes at bay.  The room is mostly well worn but attractive  wood and brass.  This is a spot that has aged well.  As is the current norm, the room is plastered with flat-screen sports TVs and some on-line trivia game on a couple of the screens.  The background noise was really perfect, not too loud and not tomb-like quiet. The bar is the focus here and it appears that you won't be able to stump the bartender. Â
The my menu pick was a grilled tuna sandwich that featured a very spicy southwest "low-fat" sauce. How much fat can there be in shot of sauce anyway unless it's pure butter?  The bun is grilled without butter.  The slaw was fresh.  It was all good and the sauce complimented the fish.  The menu has a  variety of  appetizers, dinner plates, sandwiches and pizzas.  The place was busy on a weeknight and presumably so at lunch so the ingredient rotation may not be a problem.  Longish menus tend to worry me as they might indicate a lack of focus on serving up the freshest possible food in just a few very good items.  The pizza menu advertised a very thin crust as well as standard and thick and long toppings list.  The pizzas that I spied coming out of the kitchen sure looked good.
The beer list is long but not outstanding.  The best I could get was a pint of  Goose Island Winter Ale.  The wine list appeared to be basic.
The service was good. Â The two servers assisted each other to make a pleasant and uneventful dining experience.
Overall, we left satisfied. Â I would not rule out a return visit under the right circumstances. Â Given that this is primarily a bar, it would be nice to see some additional tasty craft beers rotated into the line-up.
Alibis has been around for nearly 25 years and it's no accident why. Â The deep dish pizza is great, the sandwiches and appy's are good as well and there is a decent beer selection. Â The only issue for non smokers is smoking is allowed. Â And oh, the service is great at lunchtime and that is why I go once a week, the bartender at lunch during the week is super super nice and is now a friend of mine.
