Poblano's Mexican Bar & Grill

This is my first review so please bare with me. I've always wanted to start a yelp account, and my experience with this restaurant was great, and I wanted to repay them for that.

I understand this was a different restaurant before, and that the decor is much the same. I was never at the previous restaurant, but I really liked the decor. Felt more upscale than the typical Mexican restaurant.

The service was excellent. The portion sizes were large. (My wife and I shared a meal). The quality of the food was excellent as well. We ordered aronz con pollo (rice and chicken). I have ordered this meal from several different restaurants, but this was the best I've had.

Poblano's has replaced the Odyssey Bar and Grill here in Castleton. The owner said that it just wasnt making enough money to support the new business and is switching over to their chain of mexican resturaunts. The entiror decor is about the same and still wonderful drink specials. It seems that they are moving away from Stella Beer and doing some really good specials on it right now.

For the review - I was a bit sceptical of another mexican place in Castleton. I mean, you have at least 5 within a mile of this place. Now - the hard part if good mexican food. I don't count taco bell and cancun (or whatever it is now) as they are gross, On The Boarder is a nice chain, but not real authentic - more texmex. So that leaves Casa Grande which is pretty good and La Hacienda where you may have to wait an hour to eat, but is also good. So - that leaves a small nitch market for one good mexican place and this just might fill that order.

The food was good - I had a fajita nacho and my wife did the poblano's quesadilla. Just like Odyssey - the portions were huge and could feed an army. Authentic taste and friendly staff. For the amount of food the price was also reasonable. So - give them a try and report back.
