I certainly see why this restaurant has been deemed a hidden gem! Â It's just cute, plain and simple. Â
I love the fact that you don't have to spend much time making decisions. Â With two lunch options, the choice should be pretty clear. Â I went with the zucchini pie this afternoon. Â Yummy goodness! Â The limited options also mean your lunch is served up quickly. Â You can't beat that when in a hurry
As previously mentioned, they have an array of fancy desserts, enough to send your sweet tooth into overdrive. Â In addition to the bakery and restaurant, there is a small shopping area, similar to what you might find at a small corner store. Â I saw dry mixes for pasta sauces, Swiss chocolate, and other assorted goodies.
What stands out the most about Andre's is the service. Â The staff is super friendly and helpful. Â Everyone had a smile and a kind word. Â This wouldn't be in frequent rotation for me but if I'm in the mood for a surprise lunch and a scrumptious dessert, I will swing by again.
4 SOLID STARS for Delicious Pastries and Baked Goodies... Â Do they used FRESH, BEST, FINEST Ingredients from Switzerland??? Â I sure hope so... Â Hmm, curious curious curious...
2 stars for the PRICE = OUCH to my pockets...
Was here with N, on Thursday August 23rd 2012 while running errands in this part of neighborhood. Â Did not notice that Andre's Restaurant & Confiserie Suisse is in GLENDALE neighborhood and how many times, I have passed by driving this area...
Decisions? Â Decisions? Â Decisions???
Too many pastries, DIFFICULT to choose... Â Hmmm....
At least the staffs behind the counter, answers my questions about the pastries and baked goods they offer at Andre's.
From what I could recall these were what I ordered that day :
* Â 4 Pastries ($9.00)
* Â 1 Danish ($1.25)
* Â 1 Cookie ($1.35)
DELISH! Â To the Capital D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Â I wish I could have more more more.... Â Perhaps one day I could convince Hubs to bring me to Andre's and purchase my BIRTHDAY CAKE, COOKIES, Pasties from Andre's in the future.. Â

I absolutely love Andres.. It's off the beaten path so I feel like you really have to know that it's there. It's not the kind of place you stumble upon. The WORST part of this place is parking. Once you've found a spot, you're good to go. There are only 2 options but they come with a great salad and usually something like sliced tomatoes and watermelon. I love the massive dessert tray they bring out; I try something new every time. I am in my 30s and as mentioned, mostly people over 60 eat here. The other diners seem to look down on younger people eating there but the staff is always friendly and prompt.
Review Source:This place is one of a kind, I love their business model! With a decadent looking counter of pastries and confections up front. Tucked inside is a dining room serving lunch only. Every time I come, there are only two lunch options, it almost makes me come back again and again just to try everything they have to offer!
The meal kind of reminds me of airline meals, lol, maybe because of the portion? But it's got a little bit of everything, a drink (their iced coffee with real whipped cream is TO DIE FOR, and refill included!), salad, bread, and a main, usually either vegetarian or with meat. The best is at the last: you get to choose a dessert from the pastry tray. The tray is different every time - another thing I love about them, it's like you're taking your chances!
So, bring a group of people, then you can sample everything! :-)
So I was desperate for a marzipan cake for my daughters birthday. I had planned to order from another location but they were closed for vacation. I kept looking and finally I found this place and checked it out. I can say it is off Colorado Boulevard and a drive for me but we had promised such a cake and a promise is a promise. The cake was smallish but also quite reasonable. Overall decent in taste though I noticed the marzipan was rather muted in flavor. Marzipan has that almond flavor and here i felt it was mild. When you go in you see the counter and trays of display items...looks yummy. I did not take a table so cannot comment on that side though it seemed to me that I would enjoy it. Did this place knock my socks off? Nah...decent is what I can say. I will stick with my preferred bakery and the marzipan at the Taste of Denmark.
Review Source:For those of you who have trouble making up your mind and picking what to eat at a restaurant... Andre's helps to take all of the complications for you!!!! They have NO MENUS as there are only 2 choices that you need to make!!!
I've forgotten what my options were but I got the pork fettucine which was pretty good. Â We got a side salad with it, and dessert at the end. Â I loved my dessert with cappuccino. Â The cappuccino was not too sweet, which balanced out the vanilla. strawberry cake that I had. Â
The crowd is a little weird, everyone was probably over 50 or 60. Â We were the only two young people there, but I didn't come there to stare at the crowd. Â It was a good experience, but I wish there were more options, other than the two given.
Overall, it was a good experience.
Really? Â One of the best eateries in this area? Â NO! Â I will cop to Andre's probably having the most sentimental appeal for those who grew up in Denver. Â And, I will agree that they offer comfort food... But PLEASE, their food is unhealthy, unimaginative, and overcooked. Â This is a great place to take your grandparents. Â Do not go if you would like to have a confidential chat with anyone because the tables are on top of each other. Â Yes, it has a bit of old-world charm, but let's just leave it there.
Review Source:As others have said. Â $27 pays for 2 people for drink (coffee, tea, ice tea, latte, milk, water), lunch (2 or 3 choices) and a dessert (many to choose from). Â Prepare for food portions to be fairly modest and the dessert to be VERY sweet. Overall a pretty good deal for good tasting food. Â If you are under 50, you might be the youngest person in the restaurant :) (aside from the wait staff)
Review Source:Andre's was my grandmother's favorite restaurant in Denver; there's just something extraordinarily special about the place...Growing up, we spent many leisurely afternoons sipping tea and nibbling on pastries as my grandmother spoke German with Andre himself. Â The old-fashiomed Swiss furnishings and brick structure give it a quaint (almost whimsical) vibe--maybe the reason why I was so fond of it as a child. Â
Count on waiting a few minutes, but I promise it is worth every second. Â The menu is usually has two seasonally-inspired dishes (a beverage and dessert are included). Â It's been quite some time since my last visit, but stand-out meals include beef stroganoff and the quiche lorraine. Â The food is rich and flavorful (often involving a creamy element), so the conservative(ish) portion size is absolutely ideal (I say "conservative" compared to the traditional "American" portion size; I always leave Andre's full and satisfied). Â
Now for the highlight of the meal: Â dessert!!! Â I love it when the waitress comes by with the dessert tray. Â Always have, always will! Â The desserts are also small(er) in size, but for good reason--the flavor profile knocks it of of the park! Â Marzipan!!! Â Chocolate mountains!!! Â Fruit tarts!!! Â Napoleons!!! Â Incredible. Â
Andre's is a full-service bakery--all desserts (plus cakes, pies, candies and other treats) are available or purchase at the front of the house. Â These treats are absolutely perfect to bring to a dinner party, or to someone who needs a little sweetness to brighten the day. Â Everyone needs a little Andres in their life!
Awesome Table d'hôte restaurant!
For $13 you get a tasty beverage, 2 choices of a lunch entree, and dessert! It was perfectly portioned and tasty, did I mention the dessert? Just thinking about it gives me that narco chocolate sugar high junkies seek out, I'm getting chills down my spine even while I'm writing this. Try it it's only $13!
Andre's is a quaint little Suisse restaurant that is always busy and open only for lunch. They make everything from scratch but you only have two choices: vegetarian or meat entree. The meal comes with a side, drink and a dessert. One of the items is normally a quiche, which is good but nothing special. The portion size is small even for European standards and I think that most people come for the dessert. And the dessert is delicious! If you crave some authentic European sweats and dessert this is certainly the place for you. However, if you look for a lunch that will fill you up for the afternoon, you might consider ordering two entrees...
Review Source:They do what they do well. Â $13.00 includes lunch, drink and desert.
Not trendy low key place with good food. 2 lunch choices no menu. Â While it is not for a dieter it is a reasonable choice based on portion sizes and uncomplicated ingredients. Can not wait to take mom mom here for lunch.
What a wonderful experience! I was introduced to Andre's by a new friend last week. Â With only two choices for lunch it was still hard to decide! Â They have a fantastic organization. Â Choose your drink, meal, and awesome dessert and all for around $12.00! The place was packed! You really are crammed in quite tight but this dose not take away from great food and service.
Review Source:Denver's best kept secret and a Kansas City classic, with outposts only in Denver and somewhere in Texas. This family has managed to keep tradition alive in three states and although it appeals to little old ladies, it's really a delightful departure from the usual Denver lunch choices for all ages. There is no menu, just two choices per day, plus an amazing pastry case which includes quiches, cookies and tortes. I would wish for better vegetarian selections or at least the use of organic meats, but that's my only complaint. If you're not in the mood for a meal, you can always come in for tea or coffee and pastries, too! (Standouts include the spinach quiche, the raspberry-chocolate cake, lemon squares and holiday cookies)...
Review Source:We went to Andre's for coffee and pastry two days ago. I enjoy the rustic brick interior, and the perfectly-formed-and-flavored Swiss treats. The Napoleon was divine, and the macaroon dipped in chocolate was moist inside as it should be. I adore the brioches; they're always good. We bought Andres' chocolates for later. The regular coffee was just right, and the waitress was efficient and pleasant. Please see my three photos. I will link you to Andre's 50th Anniversary video, http://andreschocolates.…
How could one resist going to this revered Cherry Creek establishment after watching it?
This place is great. Everything about it is AUTHENTIC! I grew up in Switzerland and absolutely everything is genuine. The decoration, food, pastries and even a new pastry trainee...all Swiss. The meals are perfect proportion...after all its all you really need to be satisfied. The pastries are amazing and fresh every day. When ordering something, you have to be specific, but it will turn out perfect. The staff are extremely accomodating.
Congratulations Andre's! You have successfully recreated a perfect Swiss Restaurant and Confiserie!
My family is Swiss and I have been coming to this authentic Swiss restaurant since before I can remember. When I was younger, my favorite part of Andre's was their cute and DELICIOUS pastries! They are so fresh and so amazingly decorated! The pastry chefs are incredibly skilled and give the same great product every single day. Pick up a box of these and you will NEVER be disappointed. As I get older I can really appreciate their fantastic food! They offer two choices a day-and usually my cousin and I get both between us so we can share. We can't get enough of Andre's! Â If you grew up on traditional swiss food like I did- or even if you didn't- you HAVE to try this place!
Review Source:Andre's ruined my sister's wedding cake.
When ordering the cake, we specifically asked for no Fondant and I asked for butter cream topping and orchid purple pearls around the cake. Â Not only did the cake come with fondant, but they put pastel purple polka dots all over the cake like it was for a child's birthday party. Â The decorated the bottom of the cake with this light cream which completely stuck onto the baking paper traveling and looked terrible.
I had called them and let them know that this was not going to work for her and my sister was completely upset. Â They also let me know that the cake wasn't as high as it should be and gave me a discount but when we asked them to do some last minute corrections, the OWNER himself said he would not refund me for the cake, but he would CHARGE me for a NEW cake. Â It's fondant! Â You can peal it off and slap on some butter cream! Â
I was completely upset about the whole situation and felt that the customer service was terrible. Â Thank you for the craptastic job!
I love this place. Part of that is probably my history with them - goes back to the early 70s. Coming from a little town in New Mexico, Andre's was my first introduction to fine European (Swiss) food and pastry. In those days they were in a little strip mall right on Cherry Creek North. Obviously, they have been very successful over the decades because when their little strip mall was torn down, they built themselves a lovely new home a couple of blocks away - a little tricky to find the first time.
They only offer lunch (Tues-Sat) and even then just a couple of simple offerings. Usually something like Chicken a la King in a homemade puff pasty shell, a little simple salad, maybe some sliced tomatoes. Then they give you a choice of desserts from their bakery. If they have their amazing Baba au rhum, I'd highly recommend it.
So lunch is light, reasonably priced and served professionally in a spotless environment. Â But, for me, the real draw here is the pastry and chocolate case. Â Really lovely, perfectly executed (I told you they are Swiss) fine European pastries and handmade chocolates and other candies. Â Currently, and for the last 40 years or so, one of the best fine bakeries in Denver. Â For my money, it's still in the Best of Denver catagory.
Was dragged here for lunch by my mom at the recommendation of her friend. Â
Off the bat, it smells like a cafeteria. Â And apparently my nose knows! Â The food was OK. Â The pastries were good though the cake I had was a touch on the dry side.
The portion sizes were perfect and what you would expect in most other countries except the U.S. and Australia. Â I left feeling perfectly full if a little disappointed in the quality of the food.
The decor was little on the strange side. Â New brick in an interior setting?!?
Overall the experience was OK but I can think of a dozen other places I would prefer to have lunch instead.
There are not enough youngsters who know about this little gem in Cherry Creek. Â It's simple and you will walk away feeling satisfied without that "overstuffed" feeling. Â There are two items on the menu each day... one meat and one vegetarian...plus there's dessert!!!
I love lighter tasting cakes... and this place makes my mouth water with the mere thought of going there!!! Â They have a case of amazing pastries each day and also make specialty cakes as well wedding cakes. Â There are also marzipan figures to enjoy, quiches, and real fondue makings (NOT the foil packets...yuck!).
Please do not be scared of the senior population that flocks there daily (closed Sun & Mon)... it's worth the trip over and you can always leave with your hands full of pastries to share with your friends and colleagues.
Seniors only? You may think so when you go here because the average age is around 60, but it's open to the public. Â I think there are a lot of seniors because the portions are kinda small (european portions) but drinks and dessert are included. you only get a choice between 2 dishes every day with a serving of bread, drink and a dessert. I usually have to order 2 orders just to fill myself up. But it's well worth it. They have THE best napoleons I have ever tried. So light with the fluffy filling and the flaky crust with the slight frosting. Oh man. It's just heavenly. The food is swiss cuisine. The beef tips with noodles are excellent. The quiche is ok. But the desserts. You can't go wrong with anything in their case. Â Just try one dessert every time you go.
The wait can be very long here. Plus parking sucks. But the food is well worth the wait.
I grew up with Andre's. Â My grandma would come at least twice a month with me in tow. Â This place may be populated by seniors, but let me tell you folks....It's a diamond in the rough!!!
They only have two options each day, but they are both amazing (If they have anything in puff pastry go with it!) Â You get a wonderful mixed salad and generous portion of french bread to go with your meal. Â I recommend their iced tea as a drink option.
Then, after all this goodness you get one of Andre's wonderful pastries to finish your meal. Â They are all good so just let your inner voice guide you. Â And as you leave you can salivate over the pastry case. Â My family has ordered many a birthday cake from Andre's and they have always received the best compliments. Â If you are ever in the dog house go to Andre's....get one of his almond or fruit tortes and you are set! Â Wow how I miss Andre's in Seattle.
Andre's restaurant has an interesting concept in dining. Â Every day (they are closed on Sundays and Mondays) they make two different entrees and that's all you get to pick from. Â The first time I tried this place (so many moons ago) I was confused and intrigued. Â I got the beef tips with noodles (came with a small salad and piece of delicious bread) and for dessert we got to pick from a tray of about 10 different desserts. Â I have to confess I kept coming back because of the desserts! Â
Now a days, I call them once in a while to see if they are serving their Chicken Pattys that day. Â If you are thinking of going, try to go when they are serving the Chicken Patty! Â It's basically puff pastry shell with chicken and gravy but it's very good. Â They serve it with a nice ripe tomato salad and fresh bread. Â Yummy!
A slight warning for those of you who like to eat Cheesecake Factory portions, the portions are European (smaller than what Americans are used to) but I think they are just right for lunch and then you get something sweet at the end so going back to work after lunching at Andre's isn't so bad!
