So I guess you could say I'm a regular. The bar has a nice atmosphere and the drinks are reasonable and professionally made. I've toured the local bar scene and if you're looking for something that isn't mainstream with local flavor, stop by on Wednesdays for Karaoke and say hi to Marissa, one of the best bartenders in the house. She's great at remembering faces, she always personally greets you and she makes a great whiskey sour.
Review Source:We came here for lunch Wednesday and it was not busy at all, probably because this is a pretty new establishment. The service was exceptional, very friendly and attentive, The food was delish and boy great portion size. There were six of us and we all love what we ordered, no complaints at all. Can't wait to come back!
Review Source:Not bad at all considering I often see the parking lot mostly empty. Â I guess for this reason I was pleasantly surprised with the service, prices and quality of the food. Â Their food presentation was quite impressive for a no name place. Â Their plates looked like something you'd see in a famous, high end LA/Pasadena restaurant. Â
We had a small birthday party for a family member and they bent over to accommodate us and our needs. Â Very attentive staff and extremely friendly and upbeat.
Their salsa was tasty and their mole was delicious. Â It wouldn't take much for this place to make it up to 5 stars in my book!
came here last night and what a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. the food was great. we ordered 3 different plates, chicken mole, carne asada, and carnitas. i'm a mole snob and this mole passed the test. taste sweet and a tad spicy. each ingredient makes your mouth water. the chicken breast was moist and juicy and pounded to perfection. my wife got the carnitas, it was excellent. i think the best plate was the carne asada, wow. it was marinated and charbroiled with a lot of onions and peppers. it was insanely good! btw, get the corn tortillas, handmade! will definitely be going back.
Review Source:This place has gone through many different name changes but their food and customer service is still the same - EXCELLENT. The waitress and waiters constantly tend to your tables without bugging and pesturing you. They're also very polite and they make sure you are getting the best possible experience at Antigua! The owners too, are so humble and walk around making sure that you feel like you are at home. The food is a well priced, and is absolutely delicious! You must try their jumbo shrimp because it is amazing! I will definately come back here. I encourage everyone else to as well! Antigua, you have yourself a new regular!
Review Source:THE FOOD:
I came here for mother's day per my cousin's request. She loves the Camaron Agua Chile. I had the "enchilada trio," one with green sauce, another with red and one with mole poblano. The dish was nicely presented with a side of rice and beans. It was delicious. My favorite was the red sauce and mole poblano enchilada. The green was good too but the aforementioned were my personal favorites. The rice was yummy too: perhaps a carrot and pea pilaf. I did not have the parilladas or fajitas but they smelled divine :O
THE DRINKS:
The Margaritas were great granted they were the house margaritas. They were 2 for the price of one because of mother's day! The manager brought us a complimentary cucumber margarita- holy cow, if you have an acquired Mexican palate, you're going to love it.
THE SERVICE:
Brenda, our server had a very sweet demeanor but more importantly attentive. She took care of our table (of 8) well and was not overbearing. I like the fact that Brenda paid attention to the kids as well. The manager Mario, was very nice too, chiming in every now and then to make sure we were doing well. I went to the restroom (after the 2nd margarita) and there was a waitress there. She struck up a quick conversation with me. I appreciate genuine, charismatic people in business.
Will I return? ABSOLUTELY. I can still taste that rice and enchiladas, Yummm.

I'm not sure why this place was empty. Â Maybe the location? Â
The food was VERY good, the service was also excellent. Â Their Mole is excellent, they serve it with the chips/salsa. Â My GF thought it was so good, that she ordered the Chicken Mole as an entree, and loved it. Â I got the Fish with Veggies, and it was very good, very light! Â Bot oily or fishy at all. Â
All entrees come with a soup of the day, and it was a delicious Lentil soup. Â
We will be back.
Plus the fact that they have coupons from Yelp, Living Social & Foursquare.
Get it at!
This restaurant is a hidden gem! It's truly a Mexican experience.
Service--The most down-to-earth, friendly and compassionate waitresses. The manager even came out to ask how the food was. Both of them told us about the history of the food, how the menu is a fusion of many family recipes, something truly special. Â They even gave us a free dessert (we picked flan) which was to die for! We planned to take it home, but ate it in the car!
Food--Best ensalada de nopales ever! The presentation was amazing, the quantity was huge and the taste was succulent. The food was very fresh and all dishes were made from scratch, to order. We also had the empanadas with mushrooms and the chile relleno. No dish had too much cheese or any grease--it was healthy and perfect. Being a vegetarian, I had great options that were delicious, nutritious and full of flavor.
Drinks--One of the BEST margaritas I have EVER had. I would definitely recommend the cucumber margarita. It had a pinch of chili in it, mixed with cucumber vodka and tequila. I would go back there just to have another one of these EXTRAORDINARY margaritas.
Ambience--The restaurant is divided into a lounge, dining room and banquet hall. The dining room was family style and had lots of paintings of Hispanic cultural scenes painted by local artists.
I had a living social deal which was honored with full integrity.
Overall, this restaurant is very affordable, high quality, and unique with amazing customer service.
Beware !!!! This place is Horrible
Had a party there (buffet) Â ordered food for 55 people and let them know I would order chicken tenders for the kids .They gave me a price of $12 pp and $ 7 for the kids left a $100 Â deposit which at the end they added to my bill instead of deducting it .When it came time to pay they gave me a bill for $1596.00 claiming I had 87 people there when my guest list was 65 including kids and not all showed up AND there set up only fit 72 seats which some stayed empty . They were charging me $14 pp and $10 per kid . .The owner started to tell me that they had to cancel their flamenco dancers because of my party and they needed to make up the money they lost . He then started to curse out the manager that booked my party it was super embarrassing some of my guests were still there .The owner said I had to pay for 73 plates if I wanted to only pay $12 per person . They charged us for 77 plates with out us knowing .Ran our card so many times changing the prices that at the end it blocked the card .So we ended up having to go get a different card to pay . They ran one of our cards for $900 and then they voided it .Still haven't got the money back in our account . It was a self serve buffet but we still got charged over $200 in gratuity .The manager had told me the gratuity was up to us .We had set aside $75 for each of our drink servers .hope they got the $200 they added to our bill .Looks like I will be seeing them in court if they don't return the money they over charged me $564.00 .Oh not all of my guests got food some choices ran out and they did not refill theme owner said that if I had had the party at Luminarias it would have cost me much more than what they charged me .Yes I told him but Luminarias is a banquet hall and they don't have a B health department rating which I didn't see until they day of my party :/ Â .
The owner is so rude throwing his calculator at us telling us that he wasn't going to loose money and FYI the food I ordered on the menu it's priced at $9.00 a plate so I don't understand what his problem was .Feel bad for the staff nice girls if he curses out his manager in front of customers how must he treat the servers . This place won't be around very long with people like that running it .A friend was going to have a fundraiser there next week for Montebello American Cancer society Relay for  Life.Antiguas canceled it a week before  they said relay was going to make to much money off of them .So Sad cant even help the community for such a great cause like fighting cancer .They said they did it one time and Relay for Life made $700 off of them and that was to much .                                           5/24/13 So I filed my law suite against Antiguas  and I found out they fired the manager that booked my party .Now they are having the servers lie about people coming in and out of my party and saying I shouldn't have had a party if I couldn't pay .How ridiculous and low can they get .Blaming  the customer for their lack of communication with each other and customer service .I was given a price and was prepared to take care of my obligation .At no point during all of my dealings with the manager did i think i would be taken for a ride that day.Thank God I saved all the text between the manager and myself and all of the receipts of them voiding and changing prices .It was a 3hr lunch. People served them self lunch we cut her cake and my guest left except for a few waiting to walk out with us . They still sat other people in the area that was supposed to be reserved for me .How can 3 people keep count when different servers are still seating people( not my guests) in that same area Ridiculous ! My lawyer suggested I talk to the owner she said any good business man would not go to court over this  and I tried but he is so rude all he could say is you gave us a bad review on the Internet .I told him how they added my deposit instead of deducting it . I DON'T CARE  do what you want was his response to me .He wouldn't even let me speak .I'm sure the 3 people in the place wondered who this guy yelling was. Did I mention they have a B health department rating .Now they have a sign advertising free banquet room for party's but what a joke they fit the cost in somewhere .Charging you $16 plate when on the menus same plate is $9.00 I booked a party and not only paid I OVER PAID ALL THE FALSE CHARGES THEY ADDED TO MY BILL  !!! 2 drink servers for my party and one other part in the banquet room and the bar  and they still have the nerve to say they gave 110% service Wow . The girls are nice I felt bad that they didn't have more help . So sad now they are lying for them.
I'm actually kinda sad that this restaurant isn't as good as it could be. I live not too far from here, and i've seen this location change a million times ... Gotham Restaurant, Wild Coyote, etc ... and now with Antigua.
So the first problem is the service. The place was empty when I walked in - after waiting 5 minutes and peeking in the bar area with that clear look of desperation in my face, I finally went behind the counter and called for the waiter who was in the kitchen doing god knows what.
The food itself wasn't all the bad. They give chips and salsa (about the same as any other mexican restaurant quality - nothing special) ... the food was ok. I had a burrito (the meat was kinda all on the same side, while the beans etc were on the other - so I guess I could have split it with a vegetarian friend if I had one with me).
My mom had the enchiladas with the mole sauce, which actually made her quite ill later on in the night.
Overview: The food isn't that bad, but the service is horrible and it may make you sick
I had a yelp coupon for $40 at Antigua's, I had never heard of it before.
Atmosphere: 1 star! It's in a shady part of LA. But I thought maybe it would be nicer inside. WRONG! when we arrived at 8pm, the dining room was completely empty. There were only a few people in the bar area. No one was ordering dinner. Apparently it was comedy night and there was to be a free comedy show at 9pm (started at close to 10pm). This is a seriously ghetto place!! thats all I can say.
Service: Service was ok. I give it 3 stars. Our server was very friendly and had periods of being very attentive, and then there were periods that I couldn't get her attention for 30 mins because she was busy chatting up the security guy.
Food: 2 stars: very disappointing! I don't know what to say... almost everything was bland and tasteless and swimming in lard. I've never had mexican food like this, the cooks definitely don't know what they're doing. I guess I liked the mole sauce, and my friend though the flan was ok.
The comedy show: We stayed for the first two acts, and it was painful. There were no decent, creative or inventive jokes. It was really REALLY vulgar, crass and very CHEAP jokes. They weren't funny, and very very distasteful (GHETTO!)
Bottom Line: No way I'm coming back here again
The food is good but the drinks are great. Also the help is friendly and easy going. Great place to have a little food and drinks and listen to live or recorded music.
Management work at trying to please all their guests and welcome your inputs.
This place is a must try and don't forget that they are also open on Sundays and that's when I like going.
Please note that this is no longer 'Antigua Latin Bistro' and is now 'Antigua's Bar & grill". This is especially important because it is under new management and owners are extremely nice and helpful. Their menu has changed (See below) and is more practical. Â My review is based on dining here and my office also hosted our private holiday Party here, and dining on New Years Eve with my family.
Venue: The venue is beautiful. It is so nice to see something so classy in the city of Montebello. The walls are adorned with fine art pieces and there is so much culture displayed in the pictures themselves. Â The banquet room is a classy looking touch with mahogany wood and avocado green walls. The wine and bar cellar is cool also.
Food:
This is truly great food. I have had a variety of menu items including their three sauce enchiladas, the steaming mixed grill plate (forgot what its called), carne asada,
The enchiladas are yummy- there's 3 with 3 different sauces.
Appetizers are awesome- queso fundido, etc so good.
They use linens so you feel like you're at a high class establishment for a LOW COST meal. I spent $50 on 4 people: 3 breakfasts, 1 order of pancakes and 3 micheladas...seriously good deal.
I've had breakfast and dinner- both equally good. Their chilaquiles are mouthwatering and not too hot but not to bland. Just right.
I'm a regular now.
Service: Jesse, the owner/manager is a sweetheart. Very accomodating and he recognizes that we appreciate his food.
Private Events: We had our holiday X mas party and the owner was able to accomodate us last minute for the entire restaurant. It was a beautiful event and we had lots of compliments on the decor.
Overall I'm glad to be a regular here :-)
