Slowest service. Took 40 minutes for the waiter to bring me a drink AFTER I had ordered. If I could less than 1 star I would...

I've eaten here 4 times now and each time it has been an excellent experience. The food is great and the service is also one to be rivaled with in this area. Short of a little waiting time, I will absolutely recommend this place to anyone!

Nice place with good service. I don't have a ton of expectations at a place like this but the food came on time and with a smile.

Slow, dirty, disrespectful,...did I mention slow. The so called 15 to 20 minute wait ended up being over 30 minutes with a man and his son, who came in after us, getting seated before us. Once we were finally seated, my husband saw food in the seats, the floor under the table wasn't swept or vacuumed and the table was sticky in spots. So I proceeded to take my purrell hand sanitizer, squeeze it on the table and used the napkin to wipe the table. The dirt that came off the table was disgusting.
The staff there are young, uncaring and slackers. At one point I felt like I was on a bad episode of kitchen nightmares and restaurant stakeout rolled into one. The servers were just standing around talking to each other, one was an obvious couple was making out in a corner, others were eating and some were singing. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks. Once the server eventually showed it she took our oder and it took another 15 minutes for the appetizer to come out along with our son's food. Well, least to say he was full with his sloppily made cheese pizza while we sat and waited for another 30 minutes for our bland, tasteless, tough, not worthy of the price we paid for food.
I am not going to even to waste any more space with this review. Because this place is the pits and don't even deserve anymore of my time. The people that obviously eat here must be drunk or just plain crazy to keep going back. I'm still trying to figure out how they got an A rating....ughhhh

I live in the neighborhood and came here after an event, with a group of 15 people.  I called a day before to let the staff know about my large party and they said that seating would not be an issue.  We waited over a half an hour to be seated and once seated, we were hit by a very foul smell.  Later we found out someone had threw up on the table we were seated at. I can only assume that since the odor was still very strong, they did not clean the table properly.  The staff immediately changed our table and took our orders.  Unfortunately, our time spent there only got worse. Half of our party was served dinner right away and had finished eating while the other half still had not been served.  We were celebrating two people's birthdays and this experience definitely dampened our originally festive mood.  We all were very disappointed and asked to speak to a manager.  The manager was less than helpful and only explanation for their poor service, was that they were extremely busy and under staffed that day.

I would have given this Applebees one star, but I have visited this location in the past with smaller groups and actually had a fine experience.  In addition, I was one of the few who got my food, and I did enjoy it.  I don't expect that much from Applebees, but I do want competent wait staff and management, which was clearly not available that day.

This apple bees is very close to my job and i have only went there once and will never go back again. The only nice part about this place was our waiter. He was very nice and understanding. We got there pretty early around 3 the waiter asks us about happy hour. We said SURE WHY NOT. he then had to move us to a happy hour section ???????   Which was weird the whole place was empty. We start with some beers i asked for a coors lite.......  it was not on the happy hour menu.??? Really ???? Coors lite, how cheaper can u get. Anyways i don't remember exactly what beers were on the selection but i know it was only about 3 beers to select.from and they were beers i have never heard of !!!!!   When we get our beer it was minature !!!!!   the menu was selective too since we were sitting in the " HAPPY HOUR SECTION " so we could not select everything.  So strange. The food took a good 35-40 mnts and our.nice waiter kept.comming back and apologizing for the delay. NEVER WENT BACK AGAIN AND I PASS IT EVERYDAY!!!!!

This Applebee's location isn't as bad as the reviews make it seem. Came here on a Friday night with a large party (10+) for a birthday. Tables were clean. The waiter was friendly, patient, accommodating, attentive, etc.

The food is your typical Applebee's, chain restaurant food. No real complaints with that taken into consideration.

As with most Applebee's they cater to the neighborhood they are located. Hence, neighborhood grill. This Applebee's location played an assortment of current hip hop - including Nas and Keyshia Cole. I'm surprised I didn't hear any reggae.

Nice, laid back atmosphere. Good place to unwind after work if you happen to work in the area. Hey, you may as well take advantage of their happy hour special (at the bar only).

I must say I was surprised how nice the wait staff was, the ambiance was cool. The first table we sat at are waiter quickly informed us that if we moved to a different section we would get the happy hour drink specials. I definitely liked that! Our waitress was cool but I must say she was kind of slow. I like the sports channels that they have. The food was good but the portions are small. Basically this is a place to go late night when your just getting off from work and u want a quick bite and a drink.

This is the only non-fast food, full service restaurant near my office, and I've been here about 6 times.  Each time, the experience is worst than the last.  The servers are poorly trained, the kitchen is slow and the manager is absolutely clueless.  For example, the manager dropped off our food 40 minutes after we ordered it without asking if we needed anything else or noticing that our drinks were empty.  It's too bad that this place is so slow, because if they'd speed things up, I have dozens of coworkers who would stop in for their lunch break, or even happy hour.

Ugh, I hate eating here but most times I don't have a choice since it's the only available non-fast food on Jamaica ave near my apartment.

The service *usually* isn't that bad. Sometimes they can be ridiculously slow, but at least in my experience they have been relatively polite. The food is standard. However, these aren't the reasons for the low rating.

The tables are always disgustingly filthy, covered in a sticky opaque film clogged with hair and dust (the napkins literally tear if you try to peel them off the table). Do they ever wipe the tables down, because it sure doesn't seem like it. Also the caliber of the clientele is really bothersome to me. Everyone is so loud, tacky, and obnoxious, always bringing  a bunch of loud kids that run around and play with intensely annoying singing toys.

Every time I eat here I leave with a massive headache.

Worker are slow and don't quite know what they are doing. Too many hostesses & bartenders, not enough waitresses. Dirty tables!

When working in Jamaica this is my first choice for lunch.  You cannot beat their lunch specials.  The bartenders are friendly and the atmosphere is nice to sit and hang out for a while.  I never feel rushed when I am here.  My favorite things to eat are the french onion soup (good amount of cheese!) boneless wings and spinach dip...pretty much all of their appetizers.  For dessert I like the carrot cake.
This place is good for a business lunch or a lunch with friends. When I get take out it is quick (around 15 min).
They have great drinks specials too for after work (happy hour!).

Super slow service, my waiter kept coming to the table to ask how everything was going...one problem tho, WE DIDN'T GET OUR FOOD OR DRINKS YET!!! After the 3rd time and 25 minutes in, I said-"What? We don't have any of the stuff we ordered yet..sir" He then says..with an attitude, "Well, I put the order in". No shit! You had better had put the order in. We waited for 30 minutes to get anything. By the time he came back, we had to take our food to go. Then he brings one bag...and says he's going to get other one. He does not. The hostess gave me a regular ole 'it might as well been a damn Keyfood bag' bag. My company was more disturbed by the fact that what was playing on the tele was 'inappropriate for a family restaurant'. F that..I don't care about that...I'm was displeased with the service..AND he (my waiter) overcharged/ double charged everyone in my dining area.

when there for lunch with my mom. First thing i noticed that was very unprofessional.was that the female watters had tank tops. They serve drinks in plastic cups which are very unhealthy and they seem dirty. when we got our table it wasnt clean and we didnt get appetizers while we waited for our meal. The ribs were good but i was wondering what kind of meat it was couldnt believe the witter didnt know neither. This applebees needs to be inspected by the Health Department because i can assure you they would get a D

Like many people I know, I chuckled when I heard they were placing an Applebees on Jamaica Avenue. Not that Applebees is too upscale for Jamaica ave..and not the Jamaica ave is too upscale for Applebees..but more so.. who the HELL is going to mindfully go to Jamaica ave in search of a place to sit down and eat, complete with a waiter and everything!?

I'm bias. I find "the ave" the be filthy, crowded, and pretty much beneath me...unless of course I have to go to that silly big library or I need to get the train somewhere. So to wrap my mind around why they would place a legitimate restaurant down here.. I simply could not.

Honestly, I didn't fully believe it until I saw it one day. Like, "Wow.. they weren't kidding about that Applebees."

Fast forward a few months later. My friend who moved to Brooklyn a few years ago, takes the train to meet me because I had to go to the library and we decided we could catch a movie after. We finished up in the library quickly (thank goodness. Pure creeps in there.) and had some time to kill before the movie. Considering she recently turned 21, I promised I'd take her for drinks...why not now!?

There it was.. shining in all its Applebees glory. We looked at each other.. said, "eff it!" and went in.

The hostess was ALMOST a typical worker I'd expect to find on Jamaica ave...but she was playing! That was sweet. She made some comment about not being able to seat us.. or we had to leave. Something silly. My friend quickly glanced at me KNOWING I was about to step into angry mother mode and give this little girl a piece of my mind.. but she gave the biggest smile and said, "I'm playing! Go right on up!"

I liked that. She revealed her joke just in time to avoid me further hating the ave for life. We laughed at her and scurried over to the escalator. We sat at the bar. The bar seating area is TIGHT!! TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT! We both had to squeeze in. But finally we were able to sit.

We waited a good 8 minutes before one of the bar tenders handed us a menu, which I thought was too darn long considering there wasn't that many people in there. We decided what we wanted quickly and then he took another 8 minutes to come back to us and THEN tell us about the happy hour specials (They were slacking at first..but redeemed themselves). Then we changed our drink orders. Everything after that went pretty smoothly. The drinks were tasty. Not particularly strong but it was all good. It was happy hour. So it wasn't expensive at all.

The guy seemed busy but the girl bar tender chatted with us and convinced us to get our shots as we went back and forth trying to decide. She was sweet and handled us in a timely fashion.

The bill was like.. nothing! The bar tenders waved and said goodbye when we got up to leave. The workers downstairs waved. Everyone was a lot more friendly than I expected them to be.

I felt bad for judging this place before coming in. Would I be hungry at home and say, " Hey! Let's take a trip to the ave for some Applebees!"?? No.. but it's not bad once you get past the location. It's decent inside far as I could see. It was also clean!!! Forgot to mention that earlier.
