I went here to celebrate my recent college graduation, because my friend was having her birthday celebration here,.... so I thought combining the two would be great.

The place looks great, very "fancy" looking.
Judging from the crowd and what their waitresses wear I actually don't think this is a classy place. They do try to convey that image through advertising  but they truly failed in my opinion. ... also I saw a lot of ladies with no shoes on and  I don't think wearing flats or being barefoot in a lounge should be accepted. (that's a hazard, because anyone can step on them).

    Mostly a Dominican club.
Not overly price. They have Birthday packages that are affordable, which is what my friend got and then we all just bought additional bottles. (their hookahs taste horrible, and takes forever to get a refill!!)

Overall is an okay lounge. music was great, a little bit of everything which is always good to hear. But I find this lounge to be Very small, gets overcrowded quickly. and the dancing space becomes non existence after a certain hour because everyone who didn't get a table is just standing around with a drink. smh.

Save your cute outfits and your energy for a real exclusive venue. This place pretends to be everything that is not.

P.S. A lot of these men are in fact homophobic and extremely metrosexual.. LOL don't be fooled by reviews that say otherwise :X

Arka was an ok hang out spot back when it first opened but I think the hype died down.  The bouncers here act like they're bouncing at Marquee with their exclusive club requirements & prices only to find yourself walking into an overcrowded, sweaty shoebox with a bunch of Dom's jumping up and down.  Don't get me wrong, if you're still in your 20's, love you some Dom's and don't mind salsa, merengue and reggaeton music all night long, you might enjoy this place.  I personally prefer something more along the lines of Apt 78 across the street when I'm trying to keep it local.  Too much nonsense @ this place for nothing.

I had been to Arka Lounge pre-renovation and I was excited to check out the newly renovated space. Unfortunately I didn't even get to do this because one of my girlfriends was wearing flats. That's right. Even though they were very dressy flats -- even nicer than my wedge sandals -- the bouncer turned us down because "only heels are allowed for women." It was a very unpleasant experience to be refused only because a woman in the group was wearing flat dress shoes. She was dressed to the nines otherwise.

I tried to reason with them saying that we checked Twitter, their website (which has been down for several months), Facebook, Yelp, and that I even called and listened to the entire voice recording with club information. Nowhere was there mention of this part of the dress code! The bouncer and club manager did not care.

I don't doubt that Arka would be a fun place for a night out, but if they really want to "keep it sophisticated" as the manager said, the first step is to have a website that actually works. If that's not possible, they should at least make some mention of the dress code and other useful information on Twitter, Facebook, Yelp and even on the old-fashioned voice recording. And the fact that they couldn't even make one exception that night despite our logical explanation and the effort we made to get there?!

They won't see me or my friends here anytime soon.

I have been here more than a few times my last being this past wknd for a birthday celebration after not coming around for a while I can start by saying not much has changed with the crowd but the place itself had a nice renovation.
I like the new look as suppose to how it was before , looks a bit more like u r out in space but it's all good.
The place is not very big & it does get pretty crowded which is never fun but for the most part people r just chilling & having a good time.
Not much hassle to get in or get a table for bottle service , if u r w a
Large group a bottle may b easier on the wallet than drinks by the glass since they r a lil pricey.
They now offer Hookah to smoke, I don't recall this before? & if it was oh well not a smoker but my party got one , this is a separate charge.
We got a small bottle of Goose & regular Henny  for about $420 after tax, tip & cc charge added for paying w a credit card not totally cheap but worth it since we had a few people to divide it amongst.
I recall middle to end of the night A fight broke out but that was quickly taken care of by security.
Good mix of music from house to merengue but the Dj needs to seriously learn how to shut the F @@ up holy crap , it's like on & on hard to enjoy the music w all the yapping he was doing !!!
A lot of back & forth between songs as usual cant enjoy a song w out it being switch every 5 minutes but oh we'll that's the deal w most places now a days.
All in all since I was w a Group of friends we had fun here & regardless of the yapping Dj it may not be soon but am sure I'll return some day.

Looking forward to a Friday party here branded, 'DISCOTEK' That mainly focuses on House-Mixes with a little top 40, urban classics & hit records. From what i keep hearing, <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fprivmg.com&s=4971f5b4931d78737638f20d5793c7e8793769c82f76ae7cf630f3b592ac8837" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://privmg.com</a> is behind the operation, Meaning the door will be 'tight' so come spiffy and ladies wear your heels, Because nightlife just regained it's exclusivity Uptown! The New renovation has been the talk of the town. Let's see what happens on April 13th.

I take pictures here just about every Friday. I can't speak on prices at the door or at the bar because I don't pay for either but the vibe and atmosphere here is great.

The staff who work here are all great friendly people from he bouncers, to the servers, to the promoters and dj's. I can always depend on this place to have a great turnout every weekend. This place gets a lot of regulars because they just love coming here and I can see why.  The service is always on point from what I see and everyone is here to just have a good time and dance.

They only serve drinks and hookahs here. The VIP area is nice. Large lounge areas than can hold 10-12 people. Ever so often this place can be too crowded to the point where you just can't move and you're constantly being bumped into.

The only thing I don't like is the music. I can't get into it, partly because I don't know spanish. If you like spanish music and dancing this place is worth a try especially if you're in your 20's.

    it was horribleeeeee!!!!!
i felt like a rotating door being bumped all night! paying 12$ for a vodka cranberry and 20$ at the door for a cheezy ass lounge with a horrribbbleeee dj!!
he said 'to my ladies who like to masturbate make some noise!" and a bunch of other stupid nonsense. mixing was horrendous no idea if i was coming or going. but the music choice overall wasn't bad, it just didn't flow well or transition well throughout the night.
i think this place sucks - oh and they have hookahs, which you'd think it be nice, except they have these low ass tables people place the hookahs on and i kept burning my hand cause the place was so tight!
oh! the dj stops the music to scold the crowd for bumping into his computer.
'yo just don't bump into my computer yo'
i was annoyed. i would not pay 20$ ever to go again there, and it would not be my first choice if it was free.
all and all i always manage to have a good time.
oh wait! the cocktail waitresses had black tank tops with the $60 sign on it real big on the back. i kept wondering are they like, 'on sale' lmao.... silly.
    anyhow i hope this helps.

Classic Washington Heights that looks chic. It's actually very chic. Y'know people always think that Dominicans are so macho and homophobic but if you saw these men you'd think they were gay and then they give you a look that let's you know:

    1. No. They are not gay.
    2. Not even a little bit.
    3. Not at all.
    4. And you were so stupid to think that.

You smiled at him thinking he was gay and now he thinks you want to have his baby. Great. Just great. And of course! You're in Washington Heights, he dances and he wants to dance with you.

But you wanna know what? It's so fun! No. Seriously, it really is! Ahhhh, good times.

It's nice to have a lounge near my house.  After getting through the bouncers and the mezmorizing aquarium, enjoy this quaint club with velvet couches lined around the place.  Music varies, with heavy focus on salsa y merengue.  DJ busts out the Reggaeton later in the night.

Nothing spectacular to set it apart from other places, but a solid choice for Latin dancers.
