such a grandiose venue that is the essence of new york and the goal for every arts person to have the chance to perform there.  building is built beautifully and scientifically to project the music to the maximum potential.  definitely watch an opera at the robert koch building and make sure to sit front and center to get the best sound.    now if only they had more affordable bars/happy hours... that would be even better.

Had a great time watching "Monkey: Journey to the West."

It's both unfortunate and a pleasure to say this was my first time at the Lincoln Center. The architecture underground, above, and within are magnificent. It's contemporary done right and the buildings are awe-inspiring especially when the sun hits them during the dusk hours.

The play itself was a modern, whimsical take on a Chinese folk story. I loved the acrobatics, Chinese yo-yo, and plate spinning. What really impressed me and took me by surprise was that I loved the music as well. Sung in Mandarin with super-titles, be prepared to read, unless you already understand Mandarin! There didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house, but some seats are definitely not created equal.

Another regret is not knowing the full story of Monkey: Journey to the West. I felt if I read or was at least familiar with it's premise, I would have appreciated the storyline more. With symbolic references to Buddhism, this play is a giant Easter Egg for those in the know.

I'm nearsighted with a minimal prescription and sat on the Third Ring. I wish I brought my glasses... the view wasn't bad, but I feel I could have seen more detail (ie masks, costumes). Regardless, I still really enjoyed the play.

Last words: The Lincoln Center is a must see even for a jaded New Yorker. This place isn't a landmark for nothing. This was my first visit and will come back many more times.

One of the most prominent building and public space of North America, It is not a public venue to be missed.  Behind this project is the powerful architects and designer minds of Diller Scofidio + Renfro DS+R, with FXFOWLE, Beyer Blinder Belle. This is a public space that has gained awards and written by many global publications.  The leadership at Lincoln center has done a great job making sure this place is well-kepted, lively and now, a destination to be visit.

All in all, It makes me smile every time I come here and see that there's always people hanging out and lounging around. You can come here for a show, a stroll, a concert, an outdoor events, a private event, or just some sun bathing on grassy slope...So find yourself one of those excuse above, and prepare yourself for a treat that is way more than just that.
