Library Bar at Hudson

The hotel this place is in is nothing short of georgeous. The lobby is very creatively designed and so is this lounge. The music was great, the night I went. There were 2 female djs playing which is a rare sight. Their drinks collection is pretty wide, tons of options to choose from. The coasters they give you are super cool. I highly recommend this place. It's very chill and a good hangout place.

The decor was fairly plastic looking, the ambiance somewhat late 90s Starbucks and the drinks poorly mixed for the price. A slice of Orlando in midtown Manhattan.

I read all these reviews and though this place would either be large like a library or that it would feel like a college campus library just with alcohol.  But it was neither of those things so talk about dashed expectations.  

The space is small, like a corner library bar, almost like a lounge space for hotel guests to stop in more than anything else.  It opens into the lobby and there are a lot of people with suitcases milling about.  And it is more a bonafide lounge space/bar and I would say the library portion is purely decorative in almost like a fake way.  The books aren't real.  It is all interior design.  The best part of this place is the cow photos on the wall of which are in overabundance and comic.  There is also a free pool table in the center.  The crowd here consists of just regular people, like the kind you'd find pretty much anywhere.

This space is much better lighted on the website and the yelp reviews here on this place are quite frankly, a tease.  When you get here, the place is much darker than you would expect.   I can't imagine actually coming here unless you are a hotel guest and have some time to chill or can't sleep.  I've noticed these dark lounges in hotels that others love for the "ambiance" and "classiness" don't work for me when they don't have a view of some sorts.  I'd rather go to a place with a view or a place that is more hopping.  I won't be back here again though the cow pics were a cute touch.
