I ate here more than handful of times growing up here. Â This is some of the worst pizza I have ever eaten. Â It's absolute shit. Â I t doesn't even deserve to be called pizza.
Frozen, canned, you name it, nothing's fresh here.
The huge chef salads really are the only reason I ever ate here. Â They're solid and MASSIVE. Â -note, do not consider this a healthy option-
It's made by teenagers who don't give a fuck.
If Arni's really is the best in town, Â I weep for you Crawfordsville. Â The crust would had been better if Chef-boy-ardee made it. Â The sauce tasted like it was straight from a can whith no seasoning what-so-ever. Â The sausage was dry and flavorless. Â Will definately not be returning.
Review Source:I've been to Arni's a handful of times, and never had a bad experience. Â My most recent trip was with my children and my parents. Â The pizza was excellent as usual, and the staff were fabulous. Â They truly went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy.
Arni's pizza is similar in style to Pizza King, but the toppings are more plentiful than at the King. Â I've never tried any of their sandwiches, but my friends have always enjoyed them. Â The salads are amazing! Â I don't know what it is, but they're just really great. Â Always fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous. Â If you're in the mood for a not-so-healthy salad, I highly recommend the Southern Fried Chicken salad. Â The tables, floors, and bathrooms are always clean and in order. Â The only problem with Arni's is that their parking lot is very small. Â It's not hard to find parking nearby on the street, though. Â Thumbs all the way up for Arni's!
I grew up in the 'ville, but I've only eaten Arni's a few dozen times. Â I'm not sure why I've not been there more often, as it's one of the best cheapie food places in town.
I had lunch here with my little bro (a Wabash student) this week. Â A Jr Salad (basic salad w/ham, turkey, cheese & assorted veggies), two orders of breadsticks & cheese with 2 drinks for around $11. Â The food came out quickly and piping hot. Â I'd also recommend their pizza (yup, very similar to Pizza King) and their stromboli sandwiches. Â The people are normally friendly & it's nice to frequent a locals place. Â It gets a little crazy at lunch from time to time, though, and it's a strange layout, so it feels even more cramped...no matter, once you've had your fill of carbs. :)
Every time I'm back on campus, I have to stop at Arni's! Arni's is one of those places that you just have a craving for their food every so often. Their pizzas are the old school style (kinda like Pizza king) but made with much better ingredients. Their salads are HUGE and are not just all lettuce, but generously helped on top ingredients. My all time favorite, and I can't seem to get off of this, is their Hot Ham and Cheese! Shredded ham, mozzarella cheese, placed into a bowl-cut like piece of bread/large-roll (covered with the top cut out), wrapped in foil and baked in their pizza oven for about 8-10 minutes! (Drool) AHHHHHH, heavenly sandwich, and hot hot hot!!!!! They also have a killer meatball sandwich (which stomps Subway's, Blimpie's or Quizno's) and a Stromboli that is out of this world.
Their are Arni's locations in Indianapolis and Lafayette, IN, but this location is the only one I frequent. The Indianapolis location is a new one. They used to be at 86th and Michigan Road, but have now moved northeast to a brand new 96th Street location, between Keystone and Allisonville, near the Moon Dog, et al.
Check out the original toasted sandwhich( forget what Quizno's says!)
This place is CHEAP. Â And I mean that in the best way possible. Â The best thing on the menu is the Junior Salad. Â The salad dressings are homemade and wonderful. Â The pizza is really good midwest-style thin crust. Â The sandwiches are really good, better than how they sound on the menu. Â The food comes out really fast and very fresh, and take out orders are always accurate. Â One of my favorite places in Crawfordsville, and right next to Wabash College.
Review Source:Normally, I might try to hide my initial enthusiasm or decide that a 5 is really a 4, merely in an effort to combat my own personal grade-inflation. But Crawfordsville could use a few more yelps and a little more enthusiasm and, besides, Arni's was downright good. So, why not show a little excitement for a little engine that truly could?
On the recommendation of the driver who drove me to Crawfordsville, I had the "Gut Buster" sandwich. When I'd asked him what it was, he really couldn't describe it. And now that I've had one, I really can't either.
Let's put it this way, if I were to try to make one of these at home, I'd take a delicious meat-ball, douse it in could-be-better-but-not embarrassing spaghetti sauce, and have it trampled under-foot. I'd then take the juicy, crumbled mess, chop an onion into it, cover it with mozzarella and toast the thing together between two halves of good, Italian bread.
The result is a toasted sandwich, reminiscent of a meatball sandwich but with the texture of a Sloppy Joe. I haven't had anything else at Arni's, but the Gut Buster was a real treat!
