This is definitely a local dive bar. We found it online when we were looking for some all you can eat oysters. It seemed like more of a bar than a restaurant- the ambiance was pretty rugged and only half the service was good. There was an awesome guy steaming the oysters that was friendly and accommodating, but overall not an extremely welcoming place. They also had no shrimp at the time because they were done fishing it out of the water for the day and ran out- it was pretty early. I am no oyster expert, and while they were good, you were given a large, bucket and had to shuck yourself- beware of the mud.
Review Source:Was looking for someplace to grab a shrimp poboy before checking into the hotel and reds was packed as was rb's,so I continued driving and came across Art's.I did a quick review on the blackberry and it looked promising so i stumbled in.
Shrimp is only served "in season" meh,so I settled on the flounder dinner with coleslaw and pasta salad to go.
Flounder was delicious as was the coleslaw, pasta salad ended up being macaroni salad but it was ok.
Waitress/Bartender was very pleasant.
btw shrimp season is evidentally a few weeks away so it makes me wonder if I was eating "fresh" shrimp at some of the other Charleston places reviewed ;)
I will definitely go back again and next time hopefully shrimp will be "in season"
Visited Art's on a Wednesday night, which just so happens to be free wing night (quite a variety) during Happy Hour. Indoor and outdoor seating/bars so you can take your pick.
Food: Went with the flounder sandwich and steak fries. First off, the sandwich was two HUGE lightly breaded pieces of flounder. Bread was soft, and tartar sauce was very pickle-y which I liked. The steak fries were hot, crispy, and salty which is again, just the way I like them. My mom ordered the peppercorn burger and I had a bite. Would definitely consider ordering one of their burgers next time, as it was perfectly seasoned.
Beers: Happy hour prices were friendly and beers were served nice and cold.
If you're looking for a friendly little bar and grill while in Mt. P, this is a place that's worth a shot! :)
Decided to try it out for lunch today. Fabulous!! Had no idea what to expect, but did not expect to get an amazing Cesaer Salad with fresh Tuna. Wow!! Down to earth, good prices, great service and wonderful food. Loved it and will definitely go back. I was eyeing the vegetable quesadilla and will need to go back to try that!
