August Moon Chinese Restaurant

This has been my order for years: Spicy chicken stir fry with roasted peanuts and egg drop soup.

Vegan friendly chinese food that also treats omnivores nicely is quite nice. However, August Moon's flavors are underwhelming, with little kick, and some of the vegetable dishes resembling what I've had at Panda Express (steamed, flavorless vegetables).

The atmosphere is completely lovely, so I'd be more pleased with the place if I were sipping on one of their tempting-looking cocktails in the loungy area. But for dinner? Not my favorite.

Been in a long time fan of "the Moon" for years, for both lunch and dinner.

The lunch deals are amazing, and with its proximity to downtown, makes a fab little office "getaway" in the middle of the day. A lunch entree and appetizer (wonton soup is my fave) come in at just over $9. Egg rolls are fab, and the wonton soup is worth it for the crunchy noodles that come on the side.

Though not a vegetarian, I LOVE the way August Moon does its veggies. Light, crisp and always prepared to perfection. So I order the hot & spicy chicken & veggies sans chicken, so I can max out on the good stuff. That being said, the tempura chicken (sweet & sour) and general's chicken are both family favorites when its time for Sunday take-out.

Can't recommend the Moon enough. If you like Chinese food, this is one of the best spots in Louisville.
