I've been to Cafe Lou Lou three times now and I'm just not impressed. My first visit they crammed five of us at a small hightop bar table, strike one. Five adults ordering meals not just drinks just do not fit comfortably at those tiny tables. I ordered some sort of pasta dish and I don't clearly remember anything about it except that I had leftovers and didn't bother to eat them later. My next visit I ordered a calzone. It was ok. Not bad but certainly not the best I've had. My last visit I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza which again was ok. Not great not terrible just not particularly memorable. On this visit our server was also somewhat rude when we weren't ready to order right away and I actually think she went on her 15 minute break while we were deciding because I never saw her once between the time she first tried to get us to order and the time we finally did order. Overall I probably won't return. Too many other good places to go!
Review Source:Went here on a Saturday evening - right before going to,paint at Uptown Art (shameful plug here). First time at Highlands location. Quirky is a good description of this location. Â The entrance is inside an office complex hallway - kinda strange. Â Food was good, very large portions. Â Service attentive & not intrusive. Â Â Prefer the St Matthews location for parking & ambiance.
Review Source:Went here on a first date with a hipster douchesack who suggested the location more than once because "it's never let [me] down."
Fair enough. Â Not really sure what that was supposed to mean, but hey, I've always had trouble translating douchesack.
The food was fine. Â Not great, not terrible. Â Good menu variety and portions were average to filling, but not absurdly large. Â The service was incredibly attentive (almost to the point of being annoying - water was refilled after every other sip, etc., not a lot of "space" to just enjoy a quiet meal, despite the fact that the place didn't appear to be in a rush to turn over tables). Â Who knows, maybe the server was one of the things about the place that never let him down. Â Dunno. Â Don't care.
Quirky and cheerful interior, with a fair number of disconcertingly bad works of "art," was pleased by the variety of beers (draft & bottled) - I'd probably go back sometime, if not for the risk of running into The Prince of Ick on his BMX again.
Metered parking outside seems to turn over pretty quickly - no problems finding a metered spot or wedging in to street parking nearby.
