Seviche was awesome. I went here to celebrate a birthday, and it was a great choice. We went on Sunday, and it turned out that they had half price bottles of wine, which was a great deal. My best recommendation might be a little too obvious, but if you go here, stick to the seviche.
Seviche has some great options, including a ton of choices for seviche (that's how it was spelled on the menu, same thing as ceviche). We ordered a flight of seviche where we got to try three different kinds of seviche, and they let you include any of the seviches that they have on the specials for the day. They were awesome. Light and citrus-y, with great seafood that tasted really fresh. They have an option to also try five types of seviche, so you could even do that.
For the entrees we tried the grouper and the veggie chimichanga. They were very good. The use of the KY gouda in the chimichanga was a great choice, and the grouper was cooked perfectly.
My only complaint is that the entrees were overpriced. I did not think the quality of the food matched the price that we paid. The seviches were well worth it, but the grouper and chimichanga did not need to be priced as high as they were. If you are paying $30+ for a plate of grouper, I feel like it should be mind-blowingly delicious. And while it was good, I don't think it set the bar for future seafood or anything.
Sorry for saying seviche too much, but seriously, you have to get some if you go here!
This dimly lit restaurant perches itself on a corner with little street parking but a friendly valet serviceman. Â There are towers of outdoor "fire trees" (not sure what to call them) that you notice from the road easily -and you think- what's in there?
Upon entering the establishment my date and I were greeted by a pleasant and prompt (two key P's for intro's) hostess who took us to the private room that our party awaited in. Â The drink service gets 5 stars for great recommendations and refills (the two R's for drinking wine).
Three course meal was discussed, ordered, admired, and eaten over two hours and brought acceptable (but not the most favorable) palate satisfaction.  Satisfaction that you don't mind being dimmed by the female octopus hanging all over your boyfriend from across the table miming as a "friend."  You can just tell with some girls what they're really after, and it's best not to let them get a rise out of you for fear that they might think they're actually successful. Classy dames don't street fight, especially not until after dessert.  (SKIP 1 paragraph if you're bored with this topic  )
[It's also best to not let that take away from your meal. Â I wish I could say that this meal was a double-date or something of an appropriate nature, but alas, this meal was provided by a fine drug company in a social setting, leaving me to drown my jealousy and sorrows in a tall glass of merlot (or two) accompanied by rude excluding behavior from across the table and droll behavior to my right from a rep interested in getting their product out there. Â Who's to blame here really? I digress, but Yelping is an excellent catharsis for not only my gastric adventures but also my personal adventures. Â Plus this somewhat protects privacy. Â Ladies- don't be THAT girl ok? Â Have some respect for yourself. Â Back to why you're REALLY reading my review-turned-blog].
I started the meal with their homemade guac.  It was a little acidic and I like mine a little more herbey (yea it's a word try it on  New Scrabble) with cilantro and maybe a touch of grassy parsley but this was likely made this way so that it could sit out and not brown before it was consumed.  The side for this creamy gooey mixture was large crunchy fried nachos that required breaking prior to eating since I was trying to appear dainty, but in a less formal setting I likely would've made a mess of myself eating this stuff.  Delicious- but did not pair well with the wine unfortunately.
The server then recommended the Sea Bass. Â Now you may have just had a quote ring in your ears from Jurassic Park- and YES! Â It WAS the Chilean Sea Bass. A bit overspiced for my taste but it came with two sauces (one was wasabi or jalepeno I believe) and that was just too much. Â This + the wine was not what I was looking for (next to the company I was ready to either leave to protect my stomach from stressors of the physical and emotional or have dessert- because a fat kid at heart always loves dessert).
Dessert was a sweet light cake with some kind of milky condensed mixture and fruit. Â I actually just ate this yesterday as I took it to go. Â This was the best part of the meal by far. Â I had tried someone else's bread pudding that did not thrill me, which stinks because I usually like those types of dessert. Â It was a bit tasteless with a hint of apple. Â
Either order your meal first and then pair the wine or plan accordingly. Â The meal was ruined for a multitude of reasons but Seviche still earns 4 stars for clean bathrooms, prompt and polite service, and lovely facilities. Â I will go back again if given the chance, and maybe just drink water.
