Who'd have thunk that you could find great German food and beer in Richmond?!? Owner grew up in Germany and set up the kitchen with quality local folks. Place is in a historic building, Pt Richmond location is sweet, and the back patio is wonderful. Try the German House Salad!

The Baltic is a very cute bar/restaurant/biergarten. It isn't 'trendy' (= fake); it's a laid-back, simple, honest, fun, and friendly place to hang out, eat, have a drink, play foosball, and listen to music. Go with friends, or go alone. If you're alone there will always be some friendly local patrons to chat up, if not the staff themselves.

The food is German themed, with all of your standards - schnitzel, bratwurst, spaetzle,  potato pancakes, etc., plus burgers and sandwiches. They also have lighter fare such as fish, chicken, and salads. Good, simple food that is well prepared.

I don't drink so I can't speak to the beer selection, etc., but I did note that they have ~20 German beers. However, I can say the iced tea is good. ;-)

The interior seating available includes booths, tables for 2+, and the bar of course. There is a biergarten/patio that is nicely shaded with wisteria and jasmine. A dance floor is located in an open area where live music sets up. For those lazy afternoons The Baltic  has free wireless and plenty of outlets, even the patio has outlets for almost every table.

There is a regular schedule of live music throughout the week as well as a karaoke night. Check out their website <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.balticjoint.net&s=f65331371b89268b831beb78b0a3306e555a039c2b3426cb3e84c26255b0f653" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.balticjoint.n…</a> for the schedule.

The staff is very, very friendly and service is excellent.

I really like The Baltic. I've been here several times, and each visit has been very enjoyable. Check the place out, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

After just landing at SFO, my friends decided to take me around downtown Richmond and brought me to this place. I was a little skeptical at first since it didn't look like there was a lot of people outside the place, but just a like a book, you shouldn't judge it by its cover.

This place was bigger than I expected. There is a bar area as well as a dining area  for people to eat and drink as well as a sufficient backyard area.

Service was a little slow as most of them were busy tending to the people at the bar and at the back but nonetheless were friendly and were able to suggest various items from their menu.

I ordered their special burger, which was a buffalo burger, which according to them, is made from real buffalo. I was surprised on how good the burger was. It also contained lettuce, mayo, tomatoes, and onions. They suggest that I forgo the cheese. The taste of the buffalo was different than a beef patty, but tasty nonetheless. Further the lack of cheese made meant that the buffalo was the focal point.

This place a good place with decent bar food and your typical selection of beers, wines and spirits.
