Say goodbye to the faux-brewery restaurant bars of the metro-airports and say hello to the Bayou Bar here in good ol Baton Rouge Airport. Â It's a divey joint, with nothing more to offer than a few stools, a couple of TVs, and cheap (for the airport) drinks. Â Suddenly getting trashed before getting on a flight never got easier.
I don't think they serve any food but it's located right next to Burger Bistro (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/burger-bistro-baton-rouge">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>) in Baton Rouge's tiny little food court.  I've slammed down a few brews here prior to a flight, I can only imagine what it's like if a rowdier crowd (perhaps Tiger fans visiting from out of town) ever actually partied here.  No worries about running out of alcohol though, it's all on the side closet for all to see (see photos).  Classy.
Drinks aren't at backbreaking prices. Â $5-6 a cocktail is about how much one would pay on a plane anyway. Â The beers are of Louisiana fabulousness (Abita on tap? Â Yes please) and the bartenders know how to make a mean drink. Â There is nothing glamorous about Bayou Bar, but until something better comes along, it's the only place to get a drink.
