This is probably the best Cajun/Southern food restaurant I've eaten at in a long time. They would have gotten 5-Stars from me except for a couple of minor items.

Upon entering, front door staff was a little slow on the uptake, probably due to the fact they were relatively busy and it was a Friday night. They are relatively remote, so I'm sure having extra staff like a floor manager, door person or full time head hostess is likely cost prohibitive.

Upon sitting at my table though..... the quality of the place began to show itself. My server, a young-lady named Jamie was pleasant, attentive and on the ball. They bring killer yeast rolls to the table shortly after you sit down. They let you know their going in the oven as soon as you arrive. Guess what - they are unbelievable. Served with butter, it I had to pick these as a last meal by themselves, I would! My beverage (sweet tea) was served immediately. The server reviewed the specials and was attentive to every detail.

First - GUMBO: Authentic, stove hot and full of flavor. Server made sure to suggest hot-sauce which is many times forgotten.
Second - Crawfish Etouffee, soft shell crab, and steamed, seasoned cabbage. Again - same experience as the gumbo - out of this world.

The server continued to make sure everything was good (but not too often). I asked if I could purchase rolls to take home, and she took care of that. Finding out I was driving to home to Houston (3-4 hours), she suggested she put my leftover in a container rather than a Styrofoam container. Upon asking for coffee to go, she put on a fresh pot and mentioned she would get me a "large" cup for the drive.

The only minor criticisms are while the bathrooms are acceptable, I don't think they were being checked frequently. Paper towels were on the floor, and even a cigarette butt someone had left was on the floor (people are slobs). The other minor thing is they should have someone frequently sweep the dining room area, or make sure things are picked up. With the business of the place there were food scraps on the floor in areas. They could also spend a little time working polishing of wood surfaces and the restaurant in general into the program. If they do already, and I'm wrong I apologize. It was how I saw it though.

AGAIN - Minor issues, but are bumps on the way to perfect! So, summary:
    1. Welcome upon entry = 3
    2. Service = 5 (seriously though, more like a 10)
    3. Food Quality = 5 (again, if 10 was available they would get it)
    4. Food Temperature = 5 (but 10 if I could)
    5. Cleanliness = 3
    6. Shine = 3

This place could become a "have too" food destination if they would work out the minor issues. It might be a drive, but I would surely hit the place if driving through on I-10.

    KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Very easy to find as it sits about 20 miles outside of BR on I90. Such an amazing restaurant!! Usually I can only find a couple of good things on menus at other places, here, EVERYTHING IS SUPERB!! From the staff on down, this restaurant is the best in West and East Baton Rouge Parishes.
