The Roux House has been downtown for a while, but I have yet to review it. It's not really my type of bar, but that doesn't mean it sucks.
One of the biggest selling points of the Roux House is its location. It's right by the The Manship Theatre and Shaw Centre for the Arts. It's also by Happy's and Lucy's with Boudreax & Thibideaux's not far away.
The patio here is probably the nicest part about the bar. The inside of the bar is very nice too. They have a downstairs bar and an upstairs bar. The service is generally pretty swift, as this place doesn't usually get ridiculously crowded.
They have a stage for bands. This is probably the worst part of the bar for me, as I generally hate the music they play here. You might love it, but it is certainly not for me.
I don't generally come here often, but when I do I usually have a decent enough of a time. There are definitely worse places than this downtown, but there are also much better place too.
This place is managed by the same kids over at Walk-Ons so they know what they're doing.
This area has a huge appeal: the streets are clean, the crowd is a little more grown up than what you'll find in Tigerland, and everything is pretty new.
The Roux House specifically offers a nice place to have a happy hour on the patio. There are also usually bands on the weekends and this place is great during any festival or holiday type of thing - think St Patty's Day Block Party.
