I'm mixed on Splash. Sometimes, I leave thinking I just had the best night of my life. Other times, not so much.

I will say this: If you want to dance, you need to get yourself to Splash. The music and dancefloor setup is a million times better than any other place in the city. A lot of places that people go to dance play whatever is popular on the radio, and sometimes that's not very danceable. Splash only plays music you can truly move it to.
If you get really loosey goosey, dance on stage!

But-- most times I go to Splash are during the one-a-month upstairs event +One.. which is a drum n bass music night. It's actually what got me going to Splash in the first place. The bartender upstairs, Juan, is a magic maker. I don't think I've ever loved a bartender more. The employees of Splash are a true treat, and it is what has made me return when it's not +One night. Last time I went, an employee didn't want my SO and I waiting for a cab alone and insisted waiting with us-- even though the cab did not show up until 3:30AM.

The only problems I've had with Splash are coincidentally on +One night.. although I don't know if I can fault Splash for it. The upstairs bathroom is a unisex bathroom (the downstairs might also be-- I don't remember), which doesn't bother me at all. But because there is only one small bathroom, someone's "uh oh I'm too drunk" issue becomes everyone's issue. Last time, someone puked all over the one stall in the unisex bathroom. There was no safe way to use the restroom. Had there been more than one, it wouldn't have been an issue.

To go to the restroom downstairs, you show a completely different door person your ID and you pay a couple extra dollars for "downstairs cover".. which can be annoying when the only reason you need to use that restroom is because someone ruined the one you paid for.

The best dance club in Baton Rouge, hands down! I've been going here since the day I turned 18 and still love it! The bar has a really cool look to it with several rooms: the main room with the dance floor, stage, and lighting and effects to match the music; the bar area for sitting and hanging out; the pool room - also with seating so on-lookers can watch the game; and The Wet Bar (not always open) which is a Video Bar that is separated from the other parts of the bar. It's more catered toward gay men, but lesbians are welcome too, as are straight men and women as long as they are ok with occassionally being hit on by someone of the same sex. There are often events such as themed nights and drag shows, which raise the cover a bit. I'm not positive what the cover charge is, but I've paid around $5-$7 for 21+ and around $7-$10 for 18-21 (the higher end of the range is charged on event nights).

YAY!! Another awesome gay club. I think its the only one in BR but I could be wrong. This place has great music and drink specials. And the thing that I absolutely love about a gay club/bar, in general, is that it has drag shows and this place has it. It doesn't matter if the performers are train-wrecked or not, its still a good ol' form or entertainment to me!
Splash also has an upstairs for lounging and being chill in a conversation. It also has a separate bar up there for convenience too. This place has the right combination of music, drink specials, dance and sit areas, which all equals good times!!
My review sounds like its a five but I gave it a four because of the straight people that frequent it (owners, I know its partly not your fault). Note to the straights - you have a ton of bars and clubs of your own kind of people, go there!! On the other hand, I cant hate too much because they are complimenting us by coming here; they know gay people know how to party better than the others, haha.
