We live very close to this bar and walked over there when our regular neighborhood bar closed early. The first time, we didn't mind the cover charge too much because it was early and we could chill and watch the silly karaoke singers (karaoke is not our thing). Drinks are way overpriced but the staff was friendly.
Well, our regular bar was closed early again tonight, so we walked over to Bayside just wanting one drink. It was already 1:00 AM and they still wanted a $5/pp cover charge. The place looked empty too (except for the guy belting out Purple Rain). I asked if they really wanted the cover charge just to get one drink each before they close in less than an hour and, well, they were serious about that. Nope, didn't want a drink that bad. Went home and made our own.
PEOPLE BEWARE!!!You may have tons of fun when you come into this bar. Great atmosphere and awesome house music. The bartenders are all very nice and the girls are very cute. However, the owner Toji is a CROOK! The way he runs this business, you'd think you were in an L.A nightclub. There is a cover charge of 5 dollars per person just for walking through the door! All the cocktails are made weak and are just as expensive. The only great deal Bayside has to offer is the bottle service. You can buy a bottle of Shochu for $50, but wait, Toji charges you a set charge of $5 per person for ice, and if you want to drink your Shochu with green tea, guess what, Toji charges you for that as well. Forget about singing karaoke. You'd think it would be something fun to do for free ( like any other bar) but no, you pay a price per song. It became very apparent that Toji is all about money. What a terrible owner. Bayside would be better off without this guy. He may act like he's happy to see you, that's only because he knows he's making money off you. Oh, don't ever let Toji buy you a drink! You better believe he'll charge you for it. He does the same with shots, so always decline anything that's brought to you that you didn't order. This guy is a real class act! As long as Toji is there, I'll NEVER come back to Bayside.
Review Source:Came here with  friends ordered 3 pitchers of beer which were $8 each and the bill came out to almost $85 .... there is a cover charge of $10/ person and didn't find this out until we received the bill. I would think they would collect at the door or tell us in advance. We didn't even karaoke -___-
On a positive note, the waitress was nice and attentive (5 stars).
