Great buffet. Chinese and Japanese. Also sit down for Habatchi Grill. Good selection. Drink comes with price. Senior price. I have only had lunch.

I mostly come here for the Mongolian grill, cuz I'm a fan of fresh food cooked in front of me and getting it piping hot :)

I just dined here Sunday, with a group, for a birthday party.
We had a reservation for our group of 14.

I was very disappointed by the service, quality of food and cleanliness of the restaurant.

The staff never brought out 2 of our courses and the chef did not divide the entrees correctly, so  one person in our party had to take food of another plate.

When we asked our server, he apologized and offered 15% off our checks.
After a few minutes, the manager came over apologized and said we would be getting 10%.
When we asked the server about the discrepancy, he was apologetic and said the manager would only allow him to give 10.

We also never had our drinks checked or refilled and there were long, looong waits for the ice cream and checks. I would include the other courses in this wait, but we never got them...(I am not bitter).

We were a big party and they really didn't seem concerned about the mistake or making sure we left happy.

Go to House of Kobe if you want a fun, great hibachi experience.

The food was not hot and had very little flavor.  The atmosphere was a very large open room that was loud, not a very good setting for conversation.  The drinks all tasted flat and the mix was off, and we couldn't tell anyone about it because no one ever came around to ask us if we needed another drink.

Went to BC Osaka for my birthday. All I can is FANTASTIC!!! The calamari, plantains, and sushi were to die for. Even the Oolong Iced Tea was great. WOW! What a buffet! And the sushi is great!

Have been here before and they where nothing to write home about.. but I went today.. Christmas Day.. and all the people I went with just got deathly ill with food poisoning.. and that is all we ate all day. Thanks for being open and giving us nasty food to make our Christmas day complete... Figured that I was playing it safe by eating soup and rice... but nope this place can mess that up as well somehow! WELL DONE! was NOT  worth the money... If I'm gonna get sick from food.. I would hope that it cheap.. 2 people was 31.01! what a rip off!

your better off going to KowLoon Chinese Restaurant not even 10mins down the road...

I made a stop here on a whim on Black Friday traveling through to Warsaw because it offered such ample parking and seemed like a solid enough spot. I mean - you're not going to see much Asian driving down 30 after this.

What a surprise this place was. It's a high-quality Asian restaurant with sushi buffet, Mongolian/Flat Top-style grill, and Asian entree buffet for $9.48! And I'm not sure what some of these reviewers mean when they say the food had the taste of food that had been sitting around - couldn't be further from the truth. The food was always hot, fresh, and consistently replaced.

Man I hope this place sticks around, because I make this trip 2-3 times a year and would love to stop in each time through. I may legitimately just make a road trip to it. If this existed in Chicago, I'd be there 5 times a week.

This place was AMAZING!!  The sushi selection was unreal.  So much of a variety and everything was fresh.  The staff was also very friendly.  Will be returning in the future!!

My husband was resisting Asian food for the 3rd meal in a row...
Me? it helps keep my eyes slanted.

For an Asian buffet this place is great!  Smaller quantities cooked more often.  Asian, American, Mongolian grill, sushi...  I know...we have these ideas about places like this.....but it was generally very good.

The Greenbeans were crispy and flavorful.  The Honey Garlic Chicken was tender and flavorful.  The Steamed Fish was a disappointment, as was the Tobiko Sushi. The Salad Bar was extensive, but I skipped it.  The short ribs were a total score!  The dessert was the standard food service company oily desserts.

I give them 4 stars for variety, quantity, and freshness....and value.  Just at $15 per person for dinner.

The honeymoon is over.  My wife and I came here when they first opened and it was wonderful.  The entire building was clean, the sushi was cold, and the steak was fresh and tender.  This time around the restaurant was dingy, the sushi was room temperature, and the steak could have been used as my dog's chew toy.  It seems that they got their customer base reeled in during the first month and they're counting on fond memories of the first visit to carry them through.  I left hungry and nauseous and I will not be coming back.

This place is pretty solid. They have a HUGE array of food and most of it is really high quality for a buffet. The service is exceptional, only problem I run into is that they are really across the board with their food. One day its amazing, another day it taste like they microwaved it. I think over all its good but you just got pick the right day.

When you think of all you can eat Asian buffets, they tend to be boring. That is not the case here. You definitely get your dollars worth and then some when it comes to the traditional Asian buffet and hibachi grill. It is crazy the amount of sushi rolls that they include for the low price of $13.95 and that includes your drink.

Oh I love this place ---- the soup --- the sushi buffet is great--- I love the calamari salad-- salmon--- cold shrimp which are good size--- our server was wonderful-- never had to ask she was always there.  This is the place I treat myself at least once a month-- hmm might be tonight!

The sushi was delicious, but the rest of the food tasted like pencils.  Seriously.  Pencils.  Go try their "apple pie", otherwise known as cheesecake with oregano and pencil shavings.  But, the sushi was good so there's that.

I ate here at BC Osaka when they first opened.  Their atmosphere is pleasant and neat.  The shrimp tempura was crispy and plump.  Who wouldn't love fresh fruit unscathed by hours of sitting out - so cold and fresh.  Would frequent this place again. Then we sat on the Hibachi Grill side of the restaurant on jennifer's
Birthday- very nice! Seems like it's extraordinary, it tasted so good.

Let me preface this with the food was great and our waiter/cook was also very nice. HOWEVER, I will NEVER return back to this restaurant because of the way I was treated by the manager. I had bought a Groupon for this restaurant and when the waiter wrote down the number, I marked it as redeemed in my phone--not thinking it would take it out of the entire system, I just thought it would remove it from my phone. Well, I was incorrect and when the waiter went to run my number it was coming up as already redeemed. I went to explain what happened to the manager, Simon Sit,  and he was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. He accused me of trying to double use a groupon (which I had purchased the day before and was not even able to use until that day) and refused to help me. He made me feel as if I was a thief and a piece of dirt. He basically yelled at me and told me he did not care if I ever came back to the restaurant ever again. I have never felt so mistreated by a person in my life. I worked my way through college as waitress and have never in my life seen a manager treat a customer this way. I refuse to ever give that company a dime of my money, and I will make sure everyone I know doesn't either.

I've been there twice and it's never been too busy to have access to whatever you're interested in eating.  The fruit selection is great and dessert choices have nice small portions so you can try several.  I wish they had just avocado sushi and am not sure what sauces they're using on my mongolian bbq, but will certainly be back.

The sushi buffet is HUGE.  The restaurant itself is humungous.  It's like something you'd see in Las Vegas or Walt Disney World.  When you walk in, to the left are the Hibachi grill tables. That has it's own menu.  To the right, the hostess walks you back, is the never-ending suhi buffet and tables.  There is all kinds of sushi. If you eat fish, you can eat them all.  If you're vegetarian, they'll be 2 or 3 available.  If you're vegan, they have a vegetable maki that was very good - bean curd, avocado, cucumber and something else I can't remember in there.

Then there is a small grill area where you grab a bowl, fill it with veggies and meat and they grill it for you.  I was disappointed they did not offer tofu or some kind of mock meats.  I'm used to going to Flat Top Grill and they offer all kinds of meat alternatives. There's appetizers galore and a huge fresh fruit buffet.  And a dessert area which was pre-packaged stuff.

The place was buzzing with staff.  Everyone was helpful and polite.  The service was amazing.  And the crowd was a delight.  It was a United Nations.  Honestly I think all 7 continents were represented.  Very cool for Merrillville.

My husband and are from out of town and happened up this place by chance. I am a "foodie" and will say I was surprised....the food was really good. The portions are HUGE...no way could I even begin to finish mine. The Hibaci master was great...he was entertaining and kind. Very clean and well worth the $$. We will go back again next time we come through.

They don't call me Billy Buffett cuz I'm extremely wealthy or enjoy eating cheeseburgers in paradise.  It's mainly due to needing a straight mile of food to decide how to fill up my plate.  This place comes pretty close to that ideal.

They've been open about a month and since my first visit, I've been back 3 times to get a handle on things.  I find the good elements far outweigh the bad.  Consequently, I far outweigh my former self.  This is not your normal asian venue and I'm hooked.

I can't believe they have 5 soups on hand, at least 15 diff sushi items, a hibachi grill and perfect seaweed salad.  Their shrimp are huge, the ribs and duck are very tender and their egg drop is souper rich.  I have to quit going here for awhile...it's getting shameful!

Not that it matters much, but I think old money was given to young players for this well-conceived project.  I sense there is no experienced "warden" on hand to roll young heads when needed.  Although, from what I can tell, they have made a decent splash.  This business seems sustainable and I hope they survive for a long time.

    Things that could be better:
    - front of house girl's r attractive, but seem more interested in ea other than customers
    - the "fresh" oysters appear to be a couple hours away from smelling bad
    - they want you to cut your own slice of prime rib w a giant butter knife
    - their wasabi has the consistency of half day old Play-doh
    - there are no soup spoons

They might tell you the only iced tea avail is some raspberry nonsense, but if u ask for a glass of ice and some hot tea, things work out fine.  So, push the young staff and they generally respond well.  However, if u sit back and take what they offer, u get whatever is easiest for them.

One other thing before I take a 3 mile walk-off my dinner...if u put a tip on the charge when paying up front, understand that money is split amongst the entire staff at the end of the night since they won't know who's gonna serve u until you're seated.

Stoped here for lunch and was very pleased with our experience.  The sushi was pretty good for a buffet and a huge selection.  There was a nice looking Mongolian BBQ and the regular Asian buffet stuff.  Although if all you want is regular cheep buffet food this place may not be for you.  All the staff was exceptionally nice, please, thank you, and common curtesy does go a long way with g you're wait staff :) there may be sharp objects and remember to chew your food and you should enjoy your experience too.

This a review base of the buffet. I was pretty impress, everything was very clean and nicely put together.  For the price of under $20, it was really good, they have a lot of options and the sushi was fresh.  It is my parents new favorite place to go for chinese buffet.  The ginger crab was probably my favorite and some of their maki.

I dined in at the sushi bar/buffet and thought it was great. There didn't seem to be a lot of wait staff around, but it was a buffet, so no big deal. I really enjoyed the selection of food and the sushi was decent.

So it's a Chinese buffet and a hibachi place. I had the buffet. It was good for a buffet. Not earth-shattering but most of the buffets around here are awful. I didn't have any issues with the staff, like some of the reviewers did. 4 stars because of the sushi selection.

I really like this place.  Is it perfect?  Not nearly, but they just opened and have some kinks to work out.  But the buffet is HUGE.  I've never seen such a huge buffet.  Offers a lot of variety and I've never gotten sick on anything I've eaten there, nor has my boyfriend.  And we are locals, so we've been there several times already.  I'm excited to see how they progress.  Still need to try the Habachi grill, but haven't had a party big enough yet, although they did tell me they would seat two people at a grill.  I was also thrilled at the price of the buffet.  Would have paid a LOT more for same in Chicago.

Great value for money. The sushi is good with lots of variety. You'd have to go to Chicago to get better. The stir fry bar is excellent with many fresh ingredients. The other items are on par with other chinese buffets. Some friends and I went on opening day and the service did need some improvement, but I've been back a few times since and the staff seem more attentive. It's not unusual for a new business to have some kinks to work out. The value is excellent considering drinks are included. Price for buffet is about 40% cheaper then similar places in Chicago and Indy.

Our family dined at the Osaka grill yesterday it was very nice. We ate on the hibachi side. The filet, scallops, shrimp, and chicken all tasted so so good. But, a few things need to be changed.First of all,the chief needs to cook the veges a lot sooner.Because the veges take longer to cook and the meat cooks a lot faster than the veges. So by the time the veges are cooked you will already have eaten half of the meat and fried rice.  If you wait to for the veges to be cooked all the way, the meat will have already got somewhat cold. One more thing, At the end of the meal, they give you a small cup of ice cream. The ice cream in cheap tasting and it is served with a flimsy plastic spoon. The spoon I had cracked in half. But overall the meal was very, very good. I will definitely go back to the Osaka. Next time our family will try the buffet side.

I am a former employee of this restaurant, so I can personally say I know that they have a lot of issues with organization, and of course, being understaffed. Yes, the food is all very good, but you come to a restaurant for a dining experience, and the restaurant is run very poorly, to be honest. My senior manager is from China and wants us all to work extremely hard, which is understandable. But when I work over 60 hours to get paid not even 4.00 an hour, something is horribly wrong. He gives the servers too much of a workload, which is why they are sometimes inattentive to some of their tables. I had to work 12 tables, in two different parts of the restaurant, on a few occasions so I couldn't exactly be the best waitress when I was running like a chicken without a head. That being said, if you plan on bringing a large group, then you should phone in and try to reserve a spot in the party room. And the silverware does not come with knives, so when your waitress is taking your drink orders it's best to ask for knives from the get-go. Just a warning, if you need a waitress there to refill your drink right away, bring you extra soy sauce and lemons for your drink, etc, then you're better off eating there for lunch on a weekday, when they're less crowded and they can tend to your needs.

    Will not go back.

My brother wanted me to come to merrillville for dinnner, he said the place was new, some people said it was good.

We walk in and I immediately see the closet table to us with 3 staff dropping napkins on what looked like vomit on the floor. No broken plate so im gonna say it wasn't a spilled plate.

Server finally comes to get our drink order after forever and we hit the buffet.

Food looks good at first. Back at the table the food is cold, some is not cooked properly. (Like the rangoons.) Some of the sushi tasted off, especially the shrimp tempura.

Then to my surprise there is a very sharp toothpick hid in the chopsticks. I found this out when it stabbed me about 3/8 of an inch when I went to unwrap my chopsticks. I then bled out at the table for a few minutes.

Nice thing is they use these giant trashbags for table clothes so at least you know its clean at first.

Its busy cause its new, for 4 adults and a kid after tip it was 70 bucks. Should NOT have left a tip. Servers suck. A guy when we were leaving yelled at the hostess about waiting so long for a table when there were open tables everywhere she started to cry.

Should have went to saigon noodle house.

The sushi bar tastes great great with several of variities made constantly so they're always fresh. The beef for stir fry wasn't top notch but tasted decent. Several types of clams, oysters, mussels, and shrimp were also available. Too easy to overeat but they do have a habachi grill which will have to be tried soon.

For the price, the buffet cannot be beat. Fresh sushi, Japanese, Chinese and seafood dishes and made to order grill. The sushi rolls were varied and very fresh. Will return regularly. There is a grill on the other side of the restaurant, but will need to try it on our next visit.
