This place is right up the block from my apartment. Never bothered to go try it out until, one morning, I had this incredible craving for eggs. Good decision. Though not the cheapest place (for some people, yes, for me, no), you can get an omelette with hashbrowns and toast/pancakes for anywhere from $6.50-$9.00. If you want some coffee or juice expect your bill to be bumped up somewhere in the double digits, plus, you should tip. Probably comes in to $13-$15 per meal per person. Â Worth it. It's not the best food in the world, but it's pretty hard to screw up eggs, potatoes and bread. I haven't tried the rest of what's on their menu, but I do intend to continue eating here. The wifi is free/fast, the waitstaff is nice, and I've never seen it even remotely crowded.
Review Source:I unfortunately stopped here when the line for Nuevo Leon down the street was out the door and in a hurry for a quick bite to eat. Â The Huevos Rancheros was a big mistake. Â I have been in the bathroom for 12 hours since and I feel like I got hit by a bus. Â My girlfriend didn't get ill, but she got a BLT Club and I am not sure you can screw that up.
Review Source:To me, Benny's seems like the original latin fusion restaurant- aka- a place owned by Latinos that really wants to make that type of food but is SMART and makes American fare- most of the time resulting in breakfast and lunch specialties with a soupcon of Mexico.
Pretty good, For some reason, 2 months later, I still remembering getting 2 glasses of OJ- this can be becuase
a. The OJ was great
b. I had a "10-pin spare" the night before and coffee just wouldnt do the trick
c. I woke up as a youth scared from the Home Alone scary basement heater and always got OJ
d. Â She brought it to me by accident
But i digress, Bennys was an overall good breakfast experience, but I still was hungry enough to get the corn on the cob with spices and lime juice from the Pachuco at the park
Benny's Pizza has expanded itself on 18th and opened up a breakfast and lunch joint in what used to be a bakery. For breakfast in Pilsen, Benny's is hard to beat. I usually get an omelet which comes with hash browns AND pancakes. Everything is tasty, well portioned, and fairly priced. It's a local business that supports the neighborhood (they advertise themselves as a meetup for local activism). Bravo Benny's.
Review Source:I totally disagree. Â My wife and I have been to Benny's several times and our bill for a standard breakfast is never under $20. The place is really really cold in the winter. Upon entering the restaurant there is a smell that will practically knock you off you feet. It's gross! The ice tea tastes like it was made with dirty sock sweat. Seems like the food is a lot better when the owner is there making it rather than his kids that just throw it on a plate. This place I am sure will be getting shut down or written up by the health department soon.
Review Source:what can i say about Benny's Grill? ummm, i friggin' love you. everything on the menu has never let me down. this is a great spot for Mexican breakfast & sandwiches. the burgers are great, as well, and they never say no to adding an egg on top of that massive bacon-mushroom burger i ask for. hahhaaha. i live within walking distance so this is also my go-to place for a hangover brunch spot. the portabella mushroom/veggie sandwich is def a good choice after those long nights. the OJ is fresh squeezed, too! def have to give that a shot. umm lemme see...i feel like im missing a lot of detail here. idk, just go and find out! the prices are all fair too. ive never spent more than $12 here and always left very satisfied. i also have to mention they serve crepes and other sweet stuff too.
