My boyfriend and I travel a lot and when we do, we just wing it! We love to try new places, new things and we are always on some quest for the perfect food favorites. We were on a trip through New York State and we decided to spend the night in Middletown. Â After checking in to our hotel, we decided to give this place a shot since we didn't want to dine at the chains. We had an amazing experience! We sat at the bar for drinks and dinner. Everything we ordered was incredible. Our favorite was the Lobster Mac & Cheese. We have been on the quest for the ultimate Lobster Mac & Cheese and we cannot find any restaurant throughout the US that compares to theirs. We were just talking about going on another trip through New York State and we cannot wait to come back!
Review Source:Middletown, NY is like Mayberry-dull, green and full of crickets chirping. Blue Martini is an alright spot for a place like this. Very "A Night At The Roxbury" atmosphere. It almost looks like a club that was built for a movie set which isn't a bad thing. It  just really looks movie set perfect, inside and out.  The DJ spins a pretty good blend of top 20 hits and pop-leaning hip hop. Then, there's that hour when Techno music is king which is lots of fun because everyone on the dance floor just lets it all hang out and no one is worried about who thinks they can't dance. Blue Martini is also a sweet place to just hug your table and get your interracial flirt on too. The bartenders here know their biz  and there's a cool sushi bar.  Just remember to arrive before midnight if you want to nosh while you imbibe because the kitchen closes early.
Review Source:This place sucked ass and is now rightfully so now closed within one year, comical . Terrible dinner experiences , cheap liquor swapped out for top shelf . Unprofessional staff  who were obviously hired for the looks. bouncer tried to start a fight with our group because my friend's wife was sick in the bathroom from the cheap liquor and refused to leave the toilet stall until she felt better. Owner told the bouncer to pick her up out of the stall and carry her out because he didn't want the cops to find her sick in the bathroom. We weren't having that ... Needless to say, goodbye Blue martini , did I mentioned the bouncer was male trying to pick a fight with a female?
Review Source:I am beginning to believe that some of the reviews of the restaurants and hotels in this town are written by locals deliberating toying and pranking the establishments in Middletown, NY.  I live in NYC and recently had dinner here with  my husband.  He ordered the filet and I ordered the sea bass.  Both were prepared just as we'd requested and were very good.  We are not drinkers so I cannot rate the drinks, but the food was very good and the staff very polite and helpful. Â
On another note, with the exception of the lower fast-food type restaurants, I've found the restaurants in this town and the hotels excellent.
Wow let me tell you I am extremely unhappy with this place. Not only is the customer service lacking but they are very disrespectful to everyone who is around them in this area. Music was so loud I could hear it inside my hotel room across the street!!! Will not be going here ever again!
Review Source:My wife and I went there for our anniversary last night and we had a very enjoyable meal.  The waitress was very courteous  and the food was very good. My filet was prepared as ordered and my wife's pasta dish was delicious.  I ordered a Blue Martini  was very good and was served with the shaker which easily contained another drink.  We are glad that we didn't listen to all of the negative reviews and decided to try this place out for ourselves. I would reccomed The Blue Martini to friends and family.

My parents just came into town and were staying at a hotel near Blue Martini. They suggested going for dinner and I was immediately skeptical, partially because of the name and partially because the reviews here on Yelp. I decided to allow us to go, primarily out of morbid curiosity.
Turns out, on this occasion, a Wednesday around 6:30pm, it's a perfectly good restaurant. The service which has been severely bashed on Yelp, was fairly excellent. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The drinks were good and mine was not "watered down" though I ordered the Perfect 10 which is basically Gin and Lime Juice...so I'm not sure how they would have watered it down. I like the fact that they leave the shaker on the table, so you're essentially getting two cocktails for the price (keep in mind a standard cocktail is a 4oz serving and their martini glasses are oversized so I guess some people who don't know any better could assume they're getting ripped off).
I ordered the Salmon, which was delicious and well prepared. My dad ordered a medium rare steak that came medium-well...he mentioned this to the server who politely and quickly offered several options to make it up to him including sending it back, though he declined as it wasn't that big of a deal. My mom had the sea bass which she is a connoisseur of (yes, I know, not environmentally friendly) and she was more than satisfied. My wife had the special which I think was stuffed sole and she was very happy with it.
Overall, I'd say that based on our experience, this place has received a bad rap on Yelp. I'm sure this place probably becomes a veritable shit-show on the weekends, but for a weekday dinner, it is probably one of the better places to go if you want quality food and good service. Especially for Middletown.
This place is hit or miss. I've been there quite a few times now and that's all I can say. I've had good nights there and then other nights the place has been empty. Sometimes the crowd is very young and then sometimes it is mixed-20s, 30s and 40s. I actually haven't had any trouble with the waiters or waitresses like some people here posting are saying. They've actually always been friendly to me. So it varies by the night is all I can honestly say.
Review Source:I wish I could go with zero stars. I wish The Blue Martini would not treat their customers like a hardship. I wish I could brag about my hometown have a cool bar to go to that is not an Irish Pub. The Blue Martini does not even come close.
The slogan under my ugly picture says it all. "Customer Service is everything" Apparently, The Blue Martini's slogan is: "Who the hell are all these people sitting at the tables?"
The wait-staff is: do-the-bare-minimum, not even fake friendly, would rather be anywhere else but at work, too cool for the room and forgetful. The Blue Martini is under the impression they are a high brow midtown Manhattan restaurant. They are not. Not even close. Pretenious, expensive, and arrogant does not make a classy restaurant. I wish the owners would stop spending money on entertainment and invest in a new, well-paid wait staff. Make getting a Server position at the Blue Martini something to be proud of, not just a job to pay the rent.
I hope the owner has his entire staff attend some sort of training classes to understand how to treat the customers with a monicum of respect. The staff fails to realize most customers can read body language and we are under the impression we are bothering you from hanging out in the kitchen.
My friends and I will not go back there until we hear good things about the service. Hopefully, my next review of The Blue Martini will be more positive.
My wife went there last night for a girls night out. I had her pick me up 3 rolls to go. 2 yellowtail and 1 tuna roll. They were ordered inside out with tobiko roe. What was brought home was not what was ordered. No tobiko roe, no yelow tail with scallion and the rolls were made poorly and could have been made by the dish washer for all I know. The fish was not fresh and very fishy and my wife also informed me that her dish of flounder was the same. Not fresh and fishy. I hate paying for something that i did not order or is of poor quality. Run from this place! Horrendous!!
Review Source:went with a group of 16 on Saturday night, made a rez for 16, weeks before. Â showed up 20 mins early for said reservation to be informed that our party would be broken up from 2 tables of 8 side by side but winded up being a table of 8 next to a table of 4 across from a table of 4. Â we were informed that the open table of 8 on the other side of our table of 8 was reserved (the table stayed empty for 2 hours before the staff finally sat another party there) When i suggested they move our party from the front bar area to the outdoor patio or the back of the restaurant the hostess flat out refused. Â When i asked why, she said it wasnt possible and didnt give another excuse. Â throughout the night, the patio had seating available all night so we are not sure what the prob was. Â
we had 2 servers taking drink orders almost immediately. at 12 a drink they came frequently  to see if we needed more yet took forever to bring sodas and waters to the table. it took 45 mins to get bread on the table and our meals ordered, another 45 mins to get apps on the table.  the servers seemed inexperienced at their jobs. Â
the martini selection was great but the prices for watered down drinks were ridiculous. Â and yes they were watered down. Â i have zero tolerance for alcohol and feel the effects after 1 drink. Â At 3, i barely was tipsy.
the food was kind of pricey esp for being surrounded by chain restuarants and fell short of being anything but ok and the menu is limited unless you like sushi. Â i ordered rock shrimp tempura for my appitizer and it was so bad it remained as it came to me. Â the shrimp was cut into small pieces and were so creasy it was inedible. I ordered the seafood scampi for dinner and it was just ok. Â it wasnt terrible but it also wasnt delicious and for $24 a plate it didnt even have alot of pasta or shell fish. Everyone in our party agreed with the food just being edible but tastelss.
at around 9pm a dj started playing which actually winded up turning our boring night around. Â we all danced and had a good time although the "club" was trying to be too city for upstate ny and the cougars prowling for men were plentiful. Â
i wont be back for dinner anytime soon. Â the food wasnt worth the $1200 bill.
Well, that was "interesting". Â And by "interesting", I mean "not good at all". Â Blue Martini is an expansion of a sister restaurant in Newburgh, NY. Â This one is located in a building that used to house a Red Robin, and is on a street by hotels, a TGIFriday's, an Outback steakhouse, and next to a Chili's. Â The issue there is that this place is trying to be upscale. Â Not just in terms of being a restaurant, but also a nightspot. Â The place looks like a club inside and is pretty nice for Middletown. Â But it is definitely a questionable location for an upscale venue even if it is located by a highway exit. Â Speaking specifically of the restaurant, prices and menu items are in line with local places like Nina's, Catherine's, the nicer Newburgh waterfront restaurants, etc. Â My server was not bad per se, but overly attentive to an awkward degree. Â She was annoying, came off unnatural, and seemed frazzled for some reason which I later ascertained. Â Â
I ordered a Newcastle to start; its a good brown ale made in England which is pretty easy to find. Â I don't order it particularly often, but I do know what it tastes like. Â I was not happy with what they brought me, as something was seriously up with the tap. Â The beer tasted watered down. Â No problem, the waitress took it back and asked if I wanted anything else. Â She made a small gaffe where she described Sam Adams Noble Pils as a dark beer, but still no big deal. Â Also not sure why they still have a Noble Pils while the Summer Ale is out, but whatever. Â There was a similar problem with a coke we ordered as well. Â Then the main dishes came.
I got their Chicken Madeira dish, which came with roasted potatoes and asparagus, and was ~$20 for a small portion; this was acceptable, as I knew what I was getting into beforehand. Â But it sucked. Â The chicken did not taste fresh and was devoid of flavor. Â It's quality was a small step up from what you'd get from the chain restaurants nearby. Â The madeira sauce had little flavor as well, which was especially apparent when the extra sauce I asked for arrived. Â The potatoes were absolutely horrible; I tried one and left the rest. Â The asparagus was better but lacked flavor as well. Â The entire dish lacked flavor and tasted like it had been frozen. Â The worst part was that this crap was $20.
Nobody else in my family was happy with their food either. Â Nothing quite inedible, but nothing even registered as good. Â There's two things worth highlighting though on the service. Â My brother ordered a steak medium rare. Â It came out overcooked and was sent back. Â Then, the waitress returned and was "ordered" by the kitchen staff to ask my brother to try the steak as they thought it was cooked perfectly and that the blue lighting was making it looked overcooked. Â I say "ordered" because the poor woman looked like she just got yelled at. Â I agree that the lighting didn't help, but even after he began to eat it my brother remarked that it was still overcooked. Â Now I've never seen my brother order a steak anything other than medium rare, so I assume I know what he was talking about. Â Right before we got the check, she was also "forced" to come and repeatedly ask my father how his fish dish was. Â A simple "okay" was not enough, because the chef wanted his feedback. Â Now I never personally saw my server get berated, but by the way she was acting it was clear that something was wrong. Â Maybe if the chef had spent less time abusing his staff the food would have tasted good. Â
In summary, Blue Martini has a business model which has kinks to be worked out, abuses its servers, and the food sucks. Â That not a good combination in this economy. Â Some may think I'm being too harsh on Blue Martini, but they've been here for awhile, if they're going for upscale prices there's a high standard, and the food didn't even taste good. Â That a pretty low bar to clear. Â I sure hope they do a better job as a nightclub.
I have been to Blue Martini twice. Â First for lunch and it was just okay, then again for dinner this evening. Â The food is good; my problem with this restaurant is the service.
We walked to the hostess station when we arrived and there was a plate of food on the station that one of the employees was eating. Â I thought it was unprofessional but shrugged it off. Â We were seated and the waitress came over to take our drink orders. Â My husband's beer came out after a bit of a wait, but my Mojito took about 15 minutes to make. Â Mind you, it was very early... it was 5:30 when we arrived. Â I suspect that they were not ready for dinner service when we arrived.
After deliberating over the menu for a bit, the waitress came up to take our orders and casually mentioned that they had specials. Â That would have been helpful to know about 10 minutes prior to our making our decisions.
Another waitress kept walking by our table and she was wearing enough cheap perfume to choke a horse. Â
I ordered rack of lamb and when the waitress brought me my steak knife, she put it on the table with the handle facing into the center of the table and the sharp point pointing right at me.
If this was a Chili's, I wouldn't have taken the time to write this review. Â But if I'm paying $28 an entree, I expect the wait staff to be professional and know their job.
If I'm being fair, the food is 4 and the service is a 2.
Yo, if you don't start most of your sentences with "Yo" this review may not be of use to you. Â Blue Martini is a dope spot for Middletown. Â As a night club the DJ is usually good and plays what's hot. Â Sometimes they have bands that I enjoy because of the variety of women that may come in. Â All of the bartenders are finer than the girl you came in with and they all wear this top that makes them all "Dunkin Donuts". Â the drinks are more expensive than any other spot in Middletown but this club is definitely a step above the rest and a good addition to the repetitve night life in this town. Â The food (I had Sushi) was surprisingly good and again expensive for Middletown, NY. Â I had the pleasure of owning a $175 tab at the end of a Patron night. Â Another great thing about Blue Martini is that at the end of the night if you can't drive, or you meet your future ex, there are three hotels right accross the street. Â Holla at ya boi
Review Source:Although it's nice to finally have some variety in the area there are some hits and misses to this place. Ambiance is nice, think trendy NYC bar/restaurant. Â Ate once @ the bar- drinks were decent, chicken tikka app was good and shared the truffle mac and cheese w/ a friend-delicious! My husband had 2 sushi rolls which he really liked. Our corset-clad-makeup-caked bartender ( they're all dressed this way on weekends, and I have to say it's fun to watch this spectacle) was friendly but not very attentive (took 20 mins from getting menu to her checking if we wanted to order ) . But she made a mean martini!
Came for dinner with a few friends and it was much worse. We all ordered a couple apps and 2-3 selections from their "sides" (last page of menu) They were all mediocre at best, and all came out separately at 10 min intervals to boot ( even though we specified we wanted them all at once-she asked). Our server either forgot to put them in together or left them because she was busy (1 was pretty cold), and made no apologies about it. All our drinks tasted watered down and my friend found a shard of broken glass in her water (to make up for it the server offered a piece of cake on the house, seriously). Upon finally getting our bill (which we waited 15 mins for while our server chatted up a table of tipsy jersey shore looking guys) there were a few items on it that we hadn't ordered. 20 mins later it was corrected and we left. I have to say we are not a group of picky demanding customers, but each one of us felt pretty slighted by the terrible service. I mean the manager didn't even drop by to apologize... I know they recently opened so hopefully they'll work out the kinks.
So if you're looking for a spot to leisurely grab a drink and maybe some sushi @ the bar it might be safe, but for dinner-not so much!
This place is like something straight out of the city, really posh with a young modern vibe to it. The dinner menu is mostly sushi, and they have a long list of signature martinis.
I enjoyed the sushi and thought the place was really cool inside, it's very open and trendy. Others in my party weren't crazy about the food but drinks were definitely good. It looked like the place transforms into a nightlife spot after dinner hours.
