I felt well treated with the bartender but, after I was there for a while they seemed to forget about me. I sat at one of their cool tables, was out of an alcoholic libation. The waitress walked by me several times and proceeded to mug and help two other tables that just walked in. Needless to say, I Had to eye her down like a tyrannical Texas marsupial before she finally asked me if I wanted a drink. Bottom line, place started to feel clickish and flourish like a teenage peacock.

Talk about old Hollywood style...I really like little secretive dive bars like this. The decor is freaking amazing and the bartender is a lot of fun. Plus, you can order food from the Mexican restaurant next door and they deliver it to the pub. There's free parking behind the bar. The only negative is that the restroom stalls are super small. Don't take your purse in there if your boyfriend will hold it for you..otherwise you risk dropping it in the toilet.

    Cash only bar.

Small parking lot along the side of the building or plenty of parking on the street if its a busy night at the bar. They have a really nice sized patio that usually is inhabited by smokers and their friends. Good stiff drinks and friendly atmosphere and staff. It is nice and dark which provides a really nice ambiance. The music can get a little loud, so it tends not to be the kind of place you go to get to know someone on a first date. The jukebox is stellar, truly something for everyone.

Came here last week and had a blast. X-Mas decorations are ON POINT! I believe the two guys that helped me out was Matt (?) Mike (?) and Edwin (I remember that name) lol. Really great service. Hooked me up with a Red Bull that I needed desperately. Before I knew it, I was gettin a free cocktail! Definitely going to come back. This place treats you like family.

Hands down my favorite Bar in California! The cheapest drinks without a Happy Hour. Sexy lounge booths, free birthday parties. It's been in more hit movies than I can count lol. Down to earth people, amazing digital Juke-Box, you can have a daytime meeting on the patio and be classy or an evening rendezvous and be sexy...your choice. If you work in Media City, at the studios, or anywhere near Burbank...treat yourself to the closest thing to Cheers!! Oh...and people come from around the country to see the Christmas Decorations lol stop in!!

Oldest Bar in Burbank ------------ BOOM
That alone is 5 stars, I am a bar connoisseur  for many years.  This spot is one of my faves  has an AMAZING smoking patio,  great indoor atmosphere - the blue booths and bar stools ALWAYS a comfort.   The Bartenders are the best I've met around and they know EVERY drink

Awful service from an inebriated cocktail waitress that knocked a full glass of water on my friend! As a result, she offered a free shot to my friend, but came back to our booth with 6 shots of tequila & demanded $55! We told her that we clearly did NOT order these shots, so she preceded to stand by the bar & give us all dirty looks. The self-proclaimed "owner" came by & accused us of causing the drunk waitress to "be out $55!" when we tried to explain the real scenario, the "owner" & bartender began taking (full & already paid for) drinks out of our hands & told us to leave! Awful, awful service!

I went here a lot back in the day when they had the old lady waitresses. I just recently visited on a Sunday afternoon. It was cool and chill. not much going on. This place must get packed on the weekends.

The beer selection is weak. Apparently they didn't get the memo on IPA's!

Tip:DO not freaking DRINK AND DRIVE! I have seen so many cops waiting for people to leave the parking lot and pull them over. Make sure you have a designated diver!

Ok so let me start by saying that i'd been coming here for the past 9-10 years, yes years.
This was my local watering-hole, know a lot of locals, drinks are cheap, beers are $3.50 or $4.00 bucks (depends on who serves you the beer, so ask first.) The reason I say "was my watering-hole" is because as cool as the bartenders are there, they sometimes tend to include their personal-life drama into the business aspect of the job, which spills over to the treatment of paying customers, running a bar is after all.............a job. It's a place of business and should be treated as such and the customers that go in there should also be treated as customers, if I have to pay for my drinks, i'm a customer, no matter what or how much I spend.

It was a good run. Later Blue Room, hope your bartenders go back to their old ways and make this place a cool environment where everyone wanted to come as a primary destination and not as the last-call bar it's become in the past year or so.

Cash only. Smoking patio. Chances are you will get wasted.

I miss the surley older gentleman bartenders and hostile old cocktail waitresses. Standard bar drinks, a good jukebox and a television.

Who doesn't love a dive bar with cheap drinks and a good jukebox!? The bartenders have been there forever and actually remember you when you come in. People are friendly and not creepy.

There is a nice outside patio for all you smokers and booths and tables inside. There is also TVs for those who would like to catch a game and darts!

The Blue Rooms ONLY downfall... cash only. REALLY? Who takes cash only these day? Oh, and ladies the restroom stalls are SMALL. Like... REALLY small. Like barely room to turn around and flush small. lol

    This place is OKAY.
i always forget its cash only, really? cmon people lets get on this already.
Its also a little toooo loud and dark for my taste, i think theyre trying to hide the nastyness they call furniture.
but the drinks are decent, usually filled with regulars and the people are pretty cool too.

I love blue things and bars, but The Blue Room has one shortfall -- it's cash only. There's a digital juke box and a back patio area I still don't quite understand. It may be covered, may not be, I think it's fenced in and I think you can smoke on it... but it's always too dark to tell.

It's a divey sort of all blue bar, comfortable booths, low key. It's never been crowded when I've been there, so thats cool. The other patrons keep to themselves, which I tend to like since I'm anti-social.

A piece of advice...Do not come here after drinking at Corner Bar!  Seriously, you will forget that it's CASH ONLY!  Yup, it happened to us and you will regret using the ATM with the $2 fee.  Yah, SUCKS!

Drinks pretty cheap but not happy with the first shot that the bartender made us.  But thank you, Troy (the bartender) for making us a better shot after we weren't happy with the first one.

I must tell you about the ladies restroom.  In one of the stalls (the wider one - there is only two stalls) there is a condom dispenser...75 cents for a condom and I believe one of them was flavored.  hahaha  It made me wonder how often someone ended up in there after a night of drinking.  LOL

I must say the patrons here were more bold and older than CB.  Towards the end of the night here was a guy talking to me and my friend and straight up asked which one of us was going home with him.  EWW!  Yah, gross!

So, am I coming back?  Yah, because for a good drink I will beat them off with a stick.  HAHAHA  LOL

    Who knew!??!?

It could've been a very crappy, ugly-looking, bengay-smelling bar in Burbank. But it's not!

We were a few doors down at Tapatío (the Mexican restaurant at the corner) and it occurred to me to have a cocktail after dinner. The other bar next door (don't know the name) looked faaar too divey and crappy. But as we kept walking and came across this one, we went through the back door, since parking is behind the building, and voilà: Le un-crappy, retro-ish Blue Room!

It's very cute and had C-shaped booths, and a modern jukebox. They had a dartboard, which is about the only traditionally divey thing about the place -- well, that and the older man sitting by himself in the corner. But everything else was actually very nice. The bartender was nice and fixed me my custom-made martini! Bathroom was clean! Yeah, we had a nice time! WHY AM I SQUEAKY LIKE A CHEERLEADER!!!!?!

No for real, it's definitely decent.

What can I say about my local dive-bar?
Being a former dive-bar bartender, I really can't say this is a dive-bar. It's much more than that. The booths, tables & bar counter aren't sticky...the bartenders are friendly, the juke is digital, the bottled beer is cold & the liquor isn't watered down.
Hardly a dive bar. This is a diamond in the rough. A speakeasy in the late afternoon and after work hours & a fresh joint for pre-partying leading into the later evenings. Cool for all ages over 21. It would've got my 5 star rating but the men's room has a piss-trough that's a little too high for a guy that stands any lower than 5'-9".

Eat well & drink responsibly...this has been another deez® review because you need it & want it.Enjoy your day.

Beerz at the Blue Room.  The Blue Room or BR as nobody calls it, is a fantastic dive bar with plenty of character and characters.  I became acquainted with this hidden gem by chance as it was one of the closest bars to a former place of employment.  Bottles of beer are very reasonably priced at $3 all the time, and mixed drinks are similarly priced at the cheapest you'll probably find anywhere in Los Angeles.

The retro blue vinyl seating, dim lights, and classic jukebox provide the perfect dive bar setting.  The crowd tends to be an older, grizzled one.  I thought I saw John Kruk here once, but it is tough to know for sure since he was passed out face down near the rear exit.  I highly recommend the Blue Room!

If you are feeling the blues, crave a Blue Moon, and enjoy blue decor; head to The Blue Room. I, indeed was feeling "The Blues" on Sunday night; to the point where I was barefoot in a rocking chair on the porch playing a guitar while wearing overalls. Fellow Yelper Jessica C. reminded me that this isn't the South (I've never even lived in the South) and in LA we cure the blues with some alcohol at a bar... so off we went to The Blue Room.

The Blue Room includes retro blue furnishings with blue light bulbs, flat-screen TVs, and an adorable covered patio-area. Not to mention, the BEST bar bathroom for females I have seen in a LONG time. And I'm not just talking "cute decor, big mirrors, etc"; I'm talking SO clean that my OCD was not only happy but I could actually urinate some of my alcohol out which is usually difficult for me because I have bathroom performance anxiety.

Aside from the interior design, the best part is the hospitality and clientele. The Wayans Brothers (as I called the bartenders) took my tears and snotty nose at the bar into consideration and truly tried to make my terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day somewhat better. Providing Jessica and I with free shots on the house, M&Ms, pretzels, jokes/laughs, and even a complimentary foot rub was grade-A bar service. They made sure I wiped my tear ducts clean. Additionally, the fellow clientele was quite interesting. A hooker (literally--- she went home with a guy for $800), a gay male who can not only sense spirits and energies but gave me some VERY helpful life advice, and a pedophile in the corner creeping on Lady Gaga on his laptop.

All in all, The Blue Room is quite interesting to say the least.

Good people and good drinks. The decor is bad-ass... Play the juke, play some darts, have some drinks! Dont call the bartenders "Sir" if youre a guy. They will tell you that you should be called "Sir" as a patron. Manners. Nice. A couple years ago smoking was allowed (or tolerated). Now its smoking outside only (as far as I can tell). Maybe later in the eve they let you smoke inside...
Parking lot just outside. Burrito place at the corner and the 5 freeway is justa couple blocks for an easy getaway!

I almost gave this place 4 stars but I quickly realized that I would only be doing so because of which part of Burbank it's located in. I'm not sure why, but I just really don't like eastern Burbank. I'm more of a Hollywood Way or Pass Ave. kind of guy.

Moving on. The drinks were strong. The first visit, I was just coming off of almost a month without any drinks (a real feat in Portland) so I figured, for yelp-integrity sake (of course), to return after a few nights of Burbank intensity!

The second trip proved that they do, in fact, pour a tough drink. Also, this time I remembered to bring my glasses (Ha! Fool me once...etc.) and taking a look around the place, I kind of fell in love. The blue lighting, booths, the old people and of most importantly, the jukebox of my dreams.

Based on the above and a pretty decent degree of hospitality, I have to say that If I didn't want to grow up and be something one day, and if I was any good at darts, I'd probably want to live here.

5 stars Blue Room, I look forward to seeing you soon!

Want to feel uncomfortable? Visit the Blue Room during the week around 2pm.  I have never been scrutinized so much.
I took a girl in there to have a beer - the local barflys started eyeing me.
Then, they start interjecting themselves into our conversation - and even asked if I had already been drinking (no).
I finally left my beer half full - told them to mind their fucking business - and oh yeah fuck off.

    Fuck you Blue Room.

4 stars for The Blue Room mainly for very affordable drinks.  I ordered a cran vodka that cost me only $4.  My gf was ordering one dirty martini after the other probably because each was only $7 and note she asked for Grey Goose.  Also, the service is simple and friendly.  No gimmicks, no waiting-in-line and no obnoxious people (so far).
By the way, they went crazy on their Christmas decor this year... check it out.
Oh and very important to know is that it's CASH only... which is why I gave 'em 4 instead of 5 stars.

I was in debate. Should I rewrite, edit or just update my previous review? After about 20 seconds I decided to update. So:

    Yes, one star is correct.

Why one star when the last was a four?

    Well, lemme explain.

Saturday night, just got back from the city. Itching to get a drink with friends, decided to walk to a neighborhood bar. My neighborhood bar. The good ol' Blue Room. Walked in and was bombarded:

    * The people. They were just ... well, Jackson B explained it best: "Not exactly a young crowd ... "
That's the nice way to put it.
The correct way to put it was: this is where the Hollywood club rejects went to. You know, the people far too old and unattractive to get in. The people were the number one flaw in my evening.

    * And maybe it was due to the fact that the DJ was THE WORST DJ EVER. EVER. No lies. His hit list included: "Baby Got Back". BABY. GOT. BACK. Isn't that joke over yet? Hasn't that song been demoted down to karaoke bars exclusively by now? Jesus.

    * Way too packed. Apparently the clubs rejected a bunch of heads that night. ANND way to smoky. It's the only place in Burbank where you can legally smoke. So: it was retarded smoky. Yes, the outside space. It was crazy.

It sucks. The Blue Room is the best thing that has happened to Burbank since they .... well, its the only good thing in Burbank. Well, it was.

    Fuck it, I'm moving.

Blue Room, sorry, but you sorely disappointed me. SORELY.

So really, my advice is to GO THERE ON A WEEKNIGHT. Fuck the weekends. Unless you want to meet teethless Sun Valley yokels.

    Dedicated to My Mom:

You know it's going to be a strange night when, after a nice dinner, your mother says, "Let's go drink! I want to go to the Blue Room!"

She was highly impressed with the digital jukebox. "It's sooo cool! It's like iTunes! Have you ever seen one of those!? It's SOOO COOL!"

And after a couple drinks of Johnny Walker Blue (Because, really, isn't that fitting to order? Blue room... get it?? get it??) she actually started shaking her ass to "back that azz up."

She also loudly wondered, "Who are the suits?"

And when I looked over, realizing that I was 100% sure they were cops in suits... I told her my assumption. And then she proudly declared, "I SEE HIS BADGE! You were right!"

Because, really, it's so hard to guess that two guys with 70s porn mustaches in cheap suits, white shirts and red ties in a semi-divey bar are cops.

The good thing about the blue room, is that someone my age and someone my mom's age can drink together and no one bats an eye.

Needless to say I drove home that night.... (hmmm... I need to get mom drunk more often so I can drive her jag more often!)

    ===========

    Kristen's Cliff's Notes:

The name of the bar is not a misnomer. It's blue. Really Blue.

Sit by the dart board, and if one of the rubber darts hits you in the head, your drink is sure to be comped.

    Nice outside patio in back.

    Bathroom was surprisingly nice.

It was more surprising that when I went into one of the stalls -- there was a condom machine.

Parking is pretty easy in the lot next to the bar.

For about two year's after work, I would come here and have a drink or two. The Blue Room is by far one of the best bars to hang out in, whatever your looking for. If you want to meet new people or just grab drinks with your friends, this place has it all. Great atmosphere, strong, inexpensive drinks and the service is awesome. Friday and Saturday's is the main event, but don't be surprised to see the place jumping on any day of the week - you just never know. But be aware, everyone once in a while you'll run into someone who will want to get united and that's not my thing.

Also, if you ever watched ''Memento'' the movie - you'll see the a part of Guy Pearce and Carrie-Anne Moss at the bar. I thought it was pretty cool.

If there is such a possibility as walking into a bar and having the picture in your head match EXACTLY what the bar looks like, the blue room is just that.

its a dive in every sense of the word.  its a pretty small venue, cheap booze, lots of "regulars", a jukebox (mp3) in place of a dj, and girls who shouldnt be giving lap dances giving lap dances.

the place is covered wall to wall currently with paper skeletons for the h-ween festivities which just adds to the "divey" atmosphere.

the funny thing about this place is that i cant tell you why i had such a good time (i spent a good deal of money, no "real" dance floor, the attractive girl ratio was not in my favor), but this place is awesome.  next time im in the burbank area, i will def. be making another stop.

These types of places, you know, the ones where grandma and grandpa could just as easily be found tossing em back as your friends, crack me up. I love them. So cheesy, so wrong, so right. I mean, the bathroom with the faux-finish marble walls and the vinyl teal mated with green booths and chairs? How can you not be simultaneously disturbed and amused?

The Rolling Stone's "Gimme Shelter" was playing as we walked in, and I knew it was going to be a good night. The drinks were cheap-$9.50 for a Tom Collins and a Jack and coke, neither of which was weak. The bartender was cool, attentive, and friendly. Yee-haw!

Wasn't sure what to expect when I rolled into this place, other than "dive bar". And I was so right. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. Just the opposite. Gotta love the dive bars. Where you can not only have good drinks and conversations with people in your party but also total strangers!

The only drawback was this place accepts ONLY cash. So make sure you have some on hand or make a trip to the ATM (which I believe they have one there - however I don't think it was working when I was there).

My waitress was nice in that old woman Flo's dinner kinda of way:

Me: What kind of drinks do you have here?
    Flo: Beer
Me: *Awkward glances around* What kind beer?
Flo: Beer in bottles and beer on tap

Wasn't sure if she was messing with me or actually being serious. Right before I was about to order a Hefeweizen, I made sure to change to a bud light so as to avoid being outted as a yuppie and either thrown out to the curb or charged more than I was willing to pay for the date I was out with.

All that being said. It was still nice and fun. Although there were some young people at times that come in and think they are living out a scene from Animal House and get a little stupid. Yes, imagine that, people are bars getting stupid.

Only problem I had was even though there is no smoking inside, people would light up anyways. No one seemed to stop them or tell them to put it out. Could be the way it is or maybe just regulars. Either way they weren't near me so I didn't mind.

After a quick visit to my trunk and then Bar 21, Frank was dying to take a leak.  So while he was at the communal latrine, I waited outside for him.  I knew it would be an interesting experience at The Blue Room when a guy comes up to me and proceeds to inform me that he's "just back out on the singles scene again".  Great.  Thanks man.  Thank god Frank didn't pull a Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own.  I think that guy would have made me his personal shrink if he had time.

Anyway, back to The Blue Room.  It's cool.  Good, cheap drink, $5.25 for a Malibu Pineapple.  No charge for the eye candy ;).  The music selection was good but unfortunately the people there were playing the crappy stuff.  No thanks, I've had enough Def Leppard.

Interesting, interesting mix of people.  I was distracted by all of them and I must echo Frank's unending confusion.  Parking kind of sucks too.  Although I imagine it's better during the week.

I can't bring myself to give it more than 3 stars though.  Maybe if I lived closer?  Don't get me wrong, I love dive bar crowds, but this place just had too many quirky (okay, just plain weird) characters.  Grandmas, college kids and girl who desperately wanted to dance with anything that resembled a man.

It was just a smidge too much for me.

There's one inherent problem with writing about Bardom: it's nearly impossible to recall a night's events through a drunken fog.  It's like gazing at a reflection on a window, you know what you're looking at, but you can't make out any of the details.  Granted, here's part two of Bardom.

I prefer the lusting of a sultry, red bar over the cooling, calming blue of, well, The BLUE Room.  The soft blue clashes much with the drunken bedlam of the wild drunks within, like getting drunk in the Fortress of Solitude.  It filled me with an immense inquietude, like making sense of two opposites clashing crudely.  Needless to say, I spent the night in confusion.

Added to the inquietude was the disappointment of not being able to smoke inside.  Damn.  I guess that's what freaked out meth addicts feel, just maybe not as bad.

In the battle of the Dives, I prefer The Roost without a doubt.  'From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire.'  For those of you who've been to both, you'll get that quote, more so if you know the poem.

Until further notice, three stars for the unending confusion and the communal latrine in the men's room.

    Ahh the Ol' Blue Room...
This was a regular "hang out" of mine for a long time.
I found/was told of the Blue Room back in '94-'95 and loved
the place because it didn't (back then) have the idiots, A-holes and
jerk-off's one would find in any bar. Well, that's NOT the case any more.
After witnessing a few fights; one involved a friend, I had to re-think "The Blue". The place looked better with "now gone" rock wall exterior which has been replaced with sheet metal.
People there were decent & respectful; if you accidentally bumped into someone or vice-versa, there was always apologies of some type.
That's out the window...the jerk-off's have invaded this place.
This place was great when the "locals" only knew of it.

    Stephy gets it right again....

This place is blocks away from my work and if I didn't work in Glendale I probably never would know about it and be lossed forever.  But I do know about it...I do love it...and it does always start my weekend off on the right note....I think thats D-Flat on my face.

If the neon bursting blue wasnt penetrating your soul when you walked in it would remind me of your everyday average dive bar but one in someplace like Southern Illinois, not one on San Fernando.  Its exaxctly how I remembered little bars all over the midwest, but like I said, the blue changed everything.

They have a nice little patio outside as well if you can't take the smoking aloud inside...then again, there will probably be people smoking outside.  You can also order pizza's and have them delivered there.  Or if you in the mood for Mexican, just walk next door and grab some tacos.

And although I have been there many times...Steph you dropped the bomb on me with the movie trivia...never knew that about the place.   And I fricken saw Playing By Heart.

Have you had a sh*t day?
Are you ready to go postal on your boss?
Do you feel like no one undertands you?
Do you like barflys (Not the movie)?
Do you take to the color blue?
    Do you have cash?

Answered yes to any of these, you may want to try Zoloft.

Kidding, but if any of the list above sounds like your dealio, then I highly recommend this place. I can't tell you how many lives of the staff at Warner Bros Records were saved because of this place. Total let's vent and drink spot.

The bartenders pour em strong and don't be surprised if you get a dead pan stare and all of the permanent bar residents looking at you like your suddenly in a Pace Picante New York City commercial if you order something other than whisky, scotch, vodka or gin.

It's simple here, folks and they still smoke inside. But the perks are, it's a weird looking bar that exploded in blue, the bathrooms make no sense to me and it was the place where Angelina Jolie decides to give up drinking on the spot and drops her martini in that scene in Playing By Heart. If you know what I'm referencing you will want to go here and do that same :)

    Enjoy!

Oh and PS: They will let you order a pizza and have it delivered to the bar. That rules after a long, postal day.

I agree with Kenn C.  The drinks are great and easy on the wallet too.  It has a very old school vibe to it and the blue vinyl booths and seats are part of the charm.  At Christmas, the Blue Room goes all out.  From a ton of Christmas lights strewn all around the bar and it's surrounding area, to the bartenders wearing Santa hats, they seem to have a good time here.  There are a lot of regulars that stop here for a drink, but it's also a very welcoming place.  The waitresses call you "sugar" or "hun" and are very friendly, but I've seen them put some people in their place that needed it.
The Jukebox is unbelievable.  I've found stuff in there from Loverboy to the grey album from Echo and the Bunnymen.  If you hear "You shook me all night long," cover your ears because there isn't one person NOT singing along.
This is a great local bar.

The drinks are good and Stoli vodka tonics are reasonably priced at $5.25. The decor here is nice, lots of blue vinyl booths and chairs and blue lights. The waitress was attentive, stopping by our booth a couple times to ask if we needed new drinks and to bring us a cup of pretzels.

They have something called an Internet Jukebox which, despite having "Internet" right there in the name, I am unable to find much information about on the web so I don't really know how it works. It basically looks like a computer in a jukebox cabinet with a touch screen and album cover scans. It boasts having 100,000 songs. I started at A and paged through to D and the selection looked pretty comprehensive.

They get kudos for the complete lack of beer company paraphernalia like the neon signs and mirrors that clutter up a lot of bars, but I really could have done without the big screen TV tuned to the Fox sports network, especially since they were showing a rodeo. Ugh. Overall though, the atmosphere was pretty nice. I liked it.
