Pretty decent SF club.  Good guy-to-girl ratio, everyone there really seems to just want to have fun and dance without too much drama or skeeving.

Arriving early seemed to be a smart move.  No line to get in, and once inside there was plenty of people dancing and having fun without being too crowded.  But by 1am, the whole place was totally slammed with people.  The hip-hop "basement" is actually upstairs, made for a nice retreat.

The music is actually sort of boring though.  Don't expect any real innovative dance music.  Pretty much the "mashups" are current top-40 dance tracks with some 80s songs mashed in.  Same generic music I hear at the gym.  Oh well, crowd pleasing music.

The DNA staff runs a tight ship, keeping the club and the dance floor clean from spills and accidents.

If you are tourist, this place is a good bet.  As a local, I want some more interesting music.

Went to Bootie during pride weekend. SO crazy lol.

I really like how there are multiple dance floors, you can go wherever you feel like. I didn't even need to drink to have fun. I LOVED how they had a live band there too.

Like, oh my god guys, if you're looking to rush this fall, take a flyer...

++ open past 2am with a connected 24hr pizza place!
+ awesome space, multiple floors, DJs
    + quick line & re-entry
    +/- frat/sorority hotbed
+/- great dancing, but only if you can manage
    - overworked, sometimes rude staff
    - girls with huge purses that slam into you when they walk by
    - crowded
    - smelly
    - so many better, cheaper options nearby

Okay, so it wasn't the worst night of my life. #sellingpoint

Although, if I'm going to pay a $15 cover, $8.50 for ONE weak shot of whiskey, $9 for two bottled waters (they don't serve tap water at the bar), there better be something special about this place... If there is, I couldn't find it :( What made my experience worse was the treatment I received from both staff and patrons. Yes, we definitely met some cool people and bouncers, but in the span of four hours, I had three negative experiences:

    1. Group of girls makes fun of my friend as we try to walk past them. Place is obviously overcrowded, but they try to make it seem as though we were purposely bumping them.

    2. Group of girls with large purses, and sourpuss faces, make their way to the bar. Immediately, "Ew, someone farted," points at me, "was it you? It was you." There's hundreds of people and I must have been the one. No, the whole place smells like sh*t. Rude and classless.

    3. I left my jacket next to the DJ upstairs, who said it would be cool. I go back to get it and the door is locked to the room. I ask the coat-check girl if they can let me get it and she says, "No, that section is closed. You'll have to wait until the end of the night when we do a sweep for lost and found. So, just wait a couple hours." Um... no. I'd like to leave. I go up and ask someone else, perturbed he responds, "Fine. I guess I'll go look, although it's not my problem." Then he returns with my hoodie and gives it to the coat-check girl and says, "Is this yours?" I say, "Yeah, thanks so much. I appreci--" He says, "You said it was maroon, not brown. Learn your f**king colors." ... Unacceptable.

So, taking away those three hostile incidents, the night wasn't terrible.

If you're not a regular club-goer, than you might like this place. There is no dress code, and they pump loud music and stuff. However, if you go out a lot, there are many better options nearby, and throughout SF proper in general.

This morning I woke up with bruises on my knees from being at Bootie last night. Why do you ask? Because it was so crowded that I was bumping knees with everyone around me on the dance floor. After an hour I lost my buzz and was dying for water but the bartender wants to charge $4 for a bottled water instead of giving me a cup for free. So I was forced to go drink from the water fountain and had a seat. My attempt to rest did not last long because before I knew it some random half naked man was giving me a lap dance! WHO DOES THAT?! LOL. The crowd here is hilarious and you can't help but have fun with everyone there. I explored the upstairs area into The Retro Lounge and that was basically an empty seating area playing EDM if you are into that. The real party is downstairs! Oh and they allowed re-entry so I was able to pre-game at Butter and come back here to dance, yay!

    PROS:
    - $3 coat check upstairs
    - I got a free CD with my $10 cover charge!
    - Friendly crowd with high energy
    - Live music is awesome! They let you dance on stage afterwards!
    - Security does their job. Saw three men carry out a drunk guy, no fights here!

    CONS:
    - Bathroom was hard to find
    - No free water from the bar
    - Too crowded for me personally, not enough air circulation.
    - Small bar(s) that serve drinks in cheap plastic cups resulting in a dirty dance floor and drinks spilled on you. I only had 1 shot here but I did not pay for it so idk about prices.

Not sure if I will be back, but it was definitely an experience I won't forget.

WAY Over-rated. Basically a high school dance with 3,000 of your closest sweaty, drunk and un-attractive friends.

Mash-ups??? Are you serious? Apparently this terrible 90s idea of music and DJ skill has been revived and is alive and well at Bootie SF.

Place is way to packed - you cannot move or dance or barely walk without pushing past someone.

HOT - people are sweating through their clothing from swaying their hips back and forth......imagine if you actually wanted to bust a move,

Don't waste your time waiting in line and your cash on cover and drinks.

I had an amazing time at Bootie last Saturday. I can't believe I've waited so long to go.

We showed up and were greeted by a long ass line outside. We thought to ourselves "WTF GTFO" but then ended up waiting only about 10 minutes to get inside. Cash only entrance fee for $15.

Going inside, we were greeted by a huge crowd in the big room. Traveled up and discovered two other rooms of music. Pretty cool. Also noticed that people were dressed on all ends of the spectrum. You could show up f^cking crazy or in clubbin' clubbin' attire. Either way, you're accepted and will get a chance to dance it up. Even though it was packed, there was still a lot of room to dance about which was enjoyable.

I will definitely be coming back. Bootie was awesome.

Someone recommended this place to me for my trip to SF....BEST dance party I've been to!

    - $15-$20 cover but SO WORTH IT
    - fun, diverse crowd
    - amazing mashups from 80s, 90s, and present day!
    - no-hassle door
    - no dress code
    - friendly DNA lounge staff/bartenders

If you want great music, great people, got to BOOTIE! Dancing is a must!

So crowded on Saturdays for $20 that it feels like a frat party, with older music. I'm biased as I was looking for electronic music or top 40. Not bad.

It's a good middle ground if you want to bring friends that never go clubbing but you wouldn't get them to come out otherwise.

There are plenty of other clubs nearby if you do get bored half way through.

I love BOOTIE! It's just the most fun. Everyone is in such a good mood, and dressed all silly, plus if that weren't enough it's PIRATE THEMED! Definitely worth a visit, or two, or three. The bouncers wear utili-kilts and there's always pizza afterwards!

Everywhere else (minus the Castro but that's a different story): Spend five hours to get hot. Line. You're hot. You're not. Oh my god. Are you actually talking to me? Ew don't touch me. Line to dance floor. Look at how hot i'm dancing. My shoes hurt. Omg. My feet are killing me. Ugh. Line up for drinks. Line up for bathroom. Sit down. take off shoes. sip drinks. Now i have to go to the bathroom again.

    Bootie: Fun. Pure and simple.

Forgive my cynical thoughts on clubbing. I just don't like it, but Bootie? I LOVE it. Every time I've been there, the mashups are amazing. The crowd is a genuine mess of fun and love.  An atmosphere like that requires nothing from its participants but their party faces and their energy, which everyone never fails to bring. Pure magic.

I will always say yes to BootieSF.

I've clubbed in Davis (my college town. GO AGGIES!), Downtown San Jose, and Vegas, but Bootie blew my ass away.

Three of my girl friends and I went here for my bday (which coincidentally falls on 4/20) because I had read the AWESOME reviews for this place. No line at 12:30. $15 cover charge, and were immersed in loud mash up music and a most diverse crowd. I thought "this is the TRUE MELTING POT OF AMERICA!"-- there was even an inflatable pirate being tossed around! Obviously this means a night full of win.

DRESS CODE: Anything goes. Wear clothes that give you OPTIMAL movement. My friends and I joked about wearing potato sacks, but we ended up with dresses. (Maybe next time.) Don't wear heels. They'll ruin the fun.

CROWD: Best crowd I've clubbed in. The guys here were the least pushy of all the clubs I've been do. Maybe it was the 4/20 pre-clubbing weed party we apparently were not invited to, but the guys just seemed really chill and respectful! Everyone's there to have fun, don't get all pissy if you turn them down for a dance.

Two guys popped up and linked arms with us, and we pretty much pranced in a circle.

I think I fell in love with this one guy shirtless guy (gotta love the "dress code" here) who danced on one of the side platforms half the time we were there. I've never seen such energetic, gutsy dancing in my life. I enjoyed watching him pretend to fall off when a "Titanium" mash up was playing (during the line "shoot me down, but I won't fall"), and then hold the pillar for support as he whipped out his own version of the can-can. My idol.

MUSIC: We stayed in the main room, which played mash ups all night. Honestly, we couldn't find the other 2 dance rooms I had read about, but I felt the mash ups were so upbeat and mixed the best hits from today's pop, rock, EDM, and oldies that they could keep almost anyone happy.

DRINKS: There are several small bars, and the bartenders are fast. We got our drinks quickly. (Btw, bottled water is $4.)

BATHROOMS: Decent. There are 3 stalls in the women's restroom, but they were all empty each time I needed to use one.

Later that night I ended up twirling around with some guy wearing a shirt with a Captain America shield print on the front. I thought "how come the guys here are so cool??" After we left my friends told me the Captain America guy was the awesome dancing shirtless guy we were all watching for the first hour we were there. WHAAAAAT.
Thank you, Bootie, for making my dreams come true.

...So now I'm looking for jobs in SF so I can have an excuse to move to SF and come to Bootie more often.

The place is easy to get in.  We got $15 presale tickets, but I don't think it would be hard to walk right in anyways.  It's definitely a unique place in the city, with a main mash up floor with stage shows.  There are also many other smaller rooms with hiphop, and EDM.

The place itself is pretty dingy, and I would like it to a giant house/warehouse party basically.  After a few drinks, and things get foggy, the place definitely grows on you.

I think there was a coat check also, which is always a nice to have in this city.

    $20 dollar cover.

You could buy a lot of things for $20 dollars. Dinner at Naan-n-Curry for 2, a pair of sub par headphones from Walgreens, or even parking for an hour in the city.

But $20 dollars at the DNA lounge gets you into the most magical place in the city: Booty.

Better than riding a unicorn flying through a rainbow of glitter sparkles and candy cane wishes, Booty is not your average club.

Mashup night. Think Katy Perry mixed with the Eurythmics. And plenty of room to dance. No longer are you wondering whose sweat is on you from the amount of people smashed up on you, you have plenty of room to swing your arms around like the precious diva you are.

Well, from what I recall, I had a blast.  Great music, strong drinks (be careful with these), lines were quick.  Totally worth the $15.  Everyone in there was having a ball.  I'll make it a point to stop here for another mash up night.  Dancing was the objective here so dress comfortable people.

Sidenote, coat check was $3.  Not bad!  Even got some free drink coupons because some crazy girl knocked my drink over and I helped clean it up.

Such an awesome and memorable night here at Bootie. Well, memorable from what I can remember! Let me say one thing, those bartenders have a nice heavy hand. You really get what you pay for!

Drinks=Affordable, strong and super fast. The bar doesn't get too crowded and tons of bartenders working to help you get your drink as fast as possible.

Crowd= All over the place. I would recommend no heels, as dancing is a priority here. Clothes wise, where whatever floats your boat! I saw everything.

Music= ON point. Seriously. Loved every minute of it and am glad I was given a CD because it was my birthday.

Overall experience= So much fun! Bootie is worth the 10-20 dollars because it is a guarantee night of fun. I wish I hadn't worn heels because all I wanted to do was get my groove on. I'll be back here next time I need a night of partying, that's for sure.

    CONS:
    - very crowded on a sat night! got shoved and man handled a few times
    - $15 cover- cheap but free is better!
    - cash only for drinks
    - parking was a B

    PROS:
    - NO line at 12:30am saturday night
    - no pretentious guestlists, bouncers, separate lines, lining up like cattle and batting  eyelashes to get in, etc
    - music was freaking awesome!! loved the old school classics-turned mashups
    - diverse mix of different crowds. everyone was there just to dance and have fun.  you can just be yourself.
    - did i mention the music was awesome?

I came here this past Saturday just to have fun in the city with my friends. I was so relieved to hear that there is absolutely no dress code and you can wear whatever you want. People wear jeans a tshirt and obviously there will be the girls who dress up in dem heels. I opted for a long sleeve and shorts and flats and I was completely fine and comfortable like a granny.

This place is only open on Saturdays. It's $10 before 10pm and $20 after. You can buy a ticket to skip the line for $15 but processing will make it $17, so not that much of a savings. There wasn't even a line for us to skip when we got there before 11ish but oh well.

When you enter you will see a big dance floor and two stages where you can dance on top of for those daring enough. It gets pretty crowded between 11pm-1am. It is connected to a pizza place next door so you can literally walk over to get a slice and walk back over to start dancing. There is also seating! At most clubs, there are absolutely NO SEATS and it sucks because sometimes a girl just needs to rest her piggies haha.

There are supposedly three dance floors but I could only find the big main one that plays a good mix. I heard Backstreet Boys Everybody and I literally freaked out and sang along with the rest of the crowd. The best mashup was Call Me Maybe by Carly and Jumper by Third Eye Blind. SO POPPIN! Later on in the night, they started to play more skrillexy stuff and I was not feeling it. But this place is definitely a nice break from that EDM stuff. If you like EDM, don't you worry because one of the other two rooms is all EDM. My friend says thats the Asian room and the main dance floor has a mix of people. You should definitely come here to have fun and dance the night away :)

    **TIPS**
    1) Come here if you want to just have fun with your friends and not get creeped on like at other clubs. It seems like this club naturally attracts people who want to have a chill night without being bugged by weirdos.
    2) If you know you are going to Bootie, might as well save yourself $3 and buy it online if you plan on arriving after 10pm. Maybe since it was pouring that night, there weren't that many people so no line. Other nights this golden ticket may be worth it.
    3) You can find street parking that is only a few blocks away for free. We thought we could park in the Costco parking lot and walk over but that place is locked up. No worries, you will find something!
    4) Enjoy!

Came here for a friend's birthday a few weeks ago and we all got table for a pretty penny. But guess what? PIZZA NIGHT!! Wooo endless late night foods for the table supported by an amazing waitress. The dancing was really fun as well. Definitely really cramped, especially between 11pm and 1am. So cramped that it was difficult to navigate to our table. But that's part of the experience, right? ... Right? The DJs and the music selection was great as well!

Anyways, it was a fun experience! I'm more of a foodie than a partier, so I really appreciated the food.

Note that you'll need to buy your own water here! $4 per bottle.

There's also lots of street parking late at night, so I suggest avoiding paying for parking.

    What a fun place!

We came here during Bootie 90s Mashup night, and the line was super long to get in. There was cover too, which I hate, but i oblige b/c it was for a friend's bday.

The inside is like a boat, with pirate themed. The music was great and the crowd was good that night, so 4 solid stars.

Scanning through Bootie's pictures on Yelp made me nervous. I'm no punk rocker, mosh pit jumper. I'm just a retired party girl who now fist pumps while sitting my colossal bootie on the couch.

Having to walk past junkies on the sidewalk and the Hell's Angels to get to Bootie made my granny panties bundle all up in a bunch.

What da f*ck did I get myself into?

    THE.BEST.PARTY.IN.SF.

It's no wonder that Bootie has a 4.5 stars overall rating on Yelp, has a Wikipedia page and has been voted as SF Weekly's "Best Club in SF" for seven years in row!

I had the BEST grimy clusterf*ck time in my life on Saturday and I wasn't even drunk. Don't worry, Bootie is NOT a punk rock party as the pics make it seem to be.

    ~ * ~ * COVER * ~ * ~
    *$10 before 10 pm
    *$15 thereafter
*$15 (+$2 service fee) for advanced tickets which includes a line skip. DO this! It's worth every penny.

    ~ * ~ * DRESS CODE * ~ * ~
NONE. Dress down and leave your clear stripper shoes at home; you know, the ones that make your toes look like eagle talons because you'll be dancing the night and morning away (they close at 4 am).

    ~ * ~ * COAT CHECK * ~ * ~
    $3 on the mezzanine level.

    ~ * ~ * BARS * ~ * ~
I lost count at 5 bars and it was quick to get a drink each time (2 minute tops).

    ~ * ~ * DRINKS * ~ * ~
Cash only bar (BOO!) with top shelf liquor at $9-$10 a pop. There's an ATM on both levels.

Pro tip: The only exit leads you right into DNA Pizza which is open 24 hours: <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/dna-pizza-san-francisco#query:dna%20pizza%20lounge">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>. Clever f*cks.

    ~ * ~ * STAFF * ~ * ~
Rockstar staff! The awesome bartenders are fast and work their asses off to get you your drink stat! The security are thorough and diligent with making sure there was no lingering glass bottles on tables or on the floor.

    ~ * ~ * MUSIC * ~ * ~
Can I give 10 stars? The BEST music I've heard from a club ever and this is coming from a girl who would party 11 days straight.

The DJs did an excellent job mashing up Rap with Rock, Old Skool and Top 40s, Hip Hop and Pop and EDM. Lady Gaga never sounded so good with Snoop Dog and will.i.am nor did Kid Rock with Taylor Swift.

They need a new sound system though as the beats weren't very clear.

    ~ * ~ * CROWD * ~ * ~
Most diverse and non-pretentious crowd I've ever encountered: from punk rockers to bollywooders, hipsters to yuppies, nerd herds to frat bros, lipstick lesbians to ladyboys, and your international buffet of regular club goers (without the attitude).

Everyone was there to dance their bootie off. I was just there to minimize my Yelp bootie.

    ~ * ~ * DANCE FLOORS * ~ * ~
*Main room plays Mash Ups all night with live Mash Up Band show at 11 pm or 12 midnight
    *2nd room/lounge plays EDM
*3rd room plays Hip Hop and Old Skool tracks

    ~ * ~ * RESTROOMS * ~ * ~
*Four janky stalls in the women's restroom on the first level with no seat covers. *sigh* There's also a unisex restroom upstairs near the hip hop room. *wink wink*

    ~ * ~ * PARKING * ~ * ~
Difficult street parking because of all the neighboring bars and clubs. Nearest garage is the Costco garage 2 blocks away on 10th/Bryant. $10 flat rate but closes at 2:30 am.

To the AzN "Magic Mike", you owe me a new pair of whore lashes...the ones you thrusted off while stripping to Ginuwine's Pony in the hip hop room. =/

So much fun. The place is dirty and gross and crowded, but just so much fun. Very casual, but not ghetto. Super eclectic crowd, ranging from more of a queer scene to hipsters to typical clubbers. People here seem much more up for just dancing rather than trolling for ass and creeping like your typical club scene. I didn't even drink that much and had a fantastic night. Music is a lot of fun since it's familiar but different.

Absolutely no qualms paying the cover.

Two minor complaints: cash only bar and the the house cover band Smash-Up Derby was unimpressive. I like the idea of a live mash-up cover band, but the execution left me wanting. They're very enthusiastic, I'll give them that, but singing on-key would be nice. In fairness to them, they did get a pretty good crowd response and I'm sure I would have enjoyed them a lot more had I been drunker.

Truly sad I have not been sooner. I would recommend it, go check it out! No reservations, we danced all night long to the beats off the wall! They threw in some entertainment too, just to spice things up.
    Respect to Bootie!

Ps: they used white sugar for mojitos, small disappointment after getting excited that they would even bother with cocktails on a weekend night. No crying over it, there are plenty more poisons to choose from!

I've been to Bootie drunk, and I've been to Bootie sober.  It doesn't matter, it's literally the best dance party you'll go to in this city.  People want to be there to dance, which is the ideal environment for a dance party (unlike other clubs in this city where people show up to...sit? chat? go to to a coffee shop folks!).

The mash-ups are awesome, there are elevated areas (stage, small platforms on the side) to get your grove on without bumping into people, great performances, and always some amazing personalities.  My friends and I agree, when in doubt, go to Bootie.

Boo for the $20 cover but hey, I guess it's some form of crowd control?

I like the casual atmosphere, but it's EXTREMELY crowded and you will mostly likely encounter tall drunk people dancing and flinging their arms at your face. Also, the bars don't give out free water in a glass (bottled only).

And if you're lucky, you might get to see live band that performed not-so-great covers of current pop songs and overstayed their performance.

What is going on... me dancing to Katy Perry, Rebecca Black, Nicki Minaj... da fuq???

I was hesitant about going out clubbing... I have done it all, from clubbing in Shanghai before I was 21 every weekend while I was studying abroad to Vegas several times a month to SF/SJ/anywhere... then I grew older and boring... and thought my clubbing days were over...

until I met Bootie. Came here for a friend's birthday and I was MIND BLOWN at how crackin' it was. And the great thing was that I came straight after a Warriors game in my jeans, tank, and boots! People here dress up or down, base on your preference, but honestly, nobody gives a BEEP what you're wearing.  NO BAY ASIANS! The creepy guys and douches were less apparent than other clubs though they do exist... but I had NO problems that night! People were SO friendly and fun. We all just wanna DANCE! As for the music, WHY DOES IT SOUND SO GOOD? The beats... the songs mesh very well together... variety music from top 40's to old school to house... DA FUQ?! AND there's a performance in the middle of the night!  I seriously felt like I was 20 again with so much energy and joy. Ahh the good ole days.

Only downside, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is the cash only bar and $15 cover after 10:30pm (?). A bit pricey but that won't keep me from coming back here!

I recommend it to those who just want to have a good time with great company to catchy music.

Despite my drunken FB status updates regarding something about being a minority and accosted by hipsters, the vibe in this club is pretty snazzy. Came here last Saturday for my friend's Dirty 30. In two of the VIP booths, we had a great selection of water, plus mixer plus VODKA. Sadly, I could not enjoy this club to the fullest. Since my bf and I pre-drank then drank some more in the club, lets just say the only thing I was recall was (a) the great mash-up for some reason I was not really until two hours in, but I was too far away in vodka land to hear; (b) talking a stroll around the club with the bf to walk it off; (c) the drinks on the table; (d) keeping an eye on my bf to make sure he didn't sick in the bathroom; and (e) some random dude who came to hit on me and then kissed me on the cheek before leaving our table.

LOL --- I'll definitely come and shake my bootie again - group included and less alcohol (for sure!)

This place is a total dump. It's dirty, claustrophobic, grungy, and yet...its so.much.fun.

The crowd is basically a bunch of 20somethings who don't give a shit about anything and just want to get really drunk, jump around, and sing a long to some tranny looking robot band that sings lady gaga songs.

As someone who has a religious experience every weekend when they bleach their entire apartment, it surprises me to say that this place puts the trash in trashy...and for some reason, you'll love it.

It's loud, crazy and the definition of the hot mess express...but it's so much fun you won't even know what hit you until you leave.

(I took one star off for the location.....one word...sketchy)

Being in my late 30s, the clubbing scene is not usually my choice for a night out for fear that I might stand out as somebody's mom (...or granny).

In the mood for something different, I bravely attended the New Year's Eve Bootie Mash Up with my boyfriend here. I didn't have any expectations of the place, but was hoping for the best. The mashup music was great, mixing old music with trending, which got me shaking my booty.

The environment was very casual, fun, & loud. I did not feel out of place since I was surrounded by old, young, gay, and every color of the rainbow. The go-go dancers were a very pleasant surprise of a fat girl in a bikini & a skinny flat-chested, flat-butt girl in underwear. Awesome!!

Drinks were $8 for guinness. Be sure to check your coat when you walk in.

Will definitely go back when I'm in SF!!!!

    BEST. TIME. EVER.

So I've been to Bootie many times, and I must say I've always had a blast!

The mashups are always spot on. Everyone in the club gets in the spirit (either naturally, with the help of alcohol...or through less legal methods...). Its actually pretty hard not to rock out when everyone around you is just letting loose and taking the dance floor to pound town. I've always come with a group of friends, but seem to make a bunch more while I'm there. Easily the friendliest crowd at any club I've ever been to. No room for douches here!

There is a band that often plays called Smash-Up Derby, and they ROCK! As one might expect, they play mashups, and damn they do a good job. The lead singer has some pipes and everyone else really does a phenomenal job.

After they get off the stage they usually open the stage up for some extra dancing. There are also a couple of big wooden boxes that people hop up on to bust some less private moves. I may or may not have ended up on said boxes on a few occasions...

Cover is $10 before 10 and $15 (I think...) after. But to be honest I've always showed up before 10. Not so much to avoid paying, but because I want to get the most out of my Bootie experience.

Bootie is a must if you like having a good time and you don't suck.

Broke my heels here and asked for duct tape... was instead led backstage where several initially intimidating-looking but really sweet staff tried to fix my shoes. My shoes were goners so they gave me a pair of cute comfy sandals and a drink ticket! Later on in the night when I bumped into them again they asked how my shoes were holding up.

Come here to dance, and don't worry about your shoes! :)

Let's just put it plain and simple: FLASHY AND TRASHY!

You seriously don't come here to meet people. You come here to dance your bootie off and revel in the eclectic mix of strange, obscene, weird and random people/things/scenes here. Everyone needs some of that...once in a while.

The music mashups are kind of glorious, and that's all I have to say.

Bootie. Oh, what can I not say about Bootie.
From someone who doesn't really like clubs much at all, I LOVE this f*ckin' place!
This is the similar response from my other friends.
    Conversation goes like this...

    "me:Um, it's Saturday, let's go to Bootie...?
    skeptical friends: Dude, clubs sucks.
me: It's not a club, well, I mean I guess it is, but it's Bootie!!
Skeptical friends: Ugh... fine, you're always raving about this place, we'll try it...
...fast forward, 2 am, last call...
Now much less skeptical friends: Dude, we need to get another drink, we're not ready to leave yet!
    ...fast fwd, 4 am...
Now very enthusiastic, not at all skeptical friends:
Wait, how is it already 4??
    ... AND THERE"S PIZZA RIGHT F*CKING HERE!?!?
    Dude.... OK... Bootie is awesome...!
    me: told you ;) "

    TL;DR

Bootie is the anti-club. Wear fur, wear neon, wear tennis shoes, wear whatever.
Awesome DJ's spinning mashups all night long, and a "YES!!" crowd!
Oh, and did I mention, there is ALWAYS some serious bootie up in this place!
Thank you Bootie, thank you for being my anti-club!

note. Bring cash. and cover is an entirely-worth-it-with-no-regrets 15$

    "HOLY CRAP!!!"

...is what I was literally shouting as I implored all of my best drunken dance moves on the floor of DNA lounge this Saturday night- not because the music was crap by any means but because I was so damn impressed by the musical variety I heard and skill I witnessed that night over and over again with each transition.

Ever since Mash-Ups became popular in the 00's through artists such as Girl Talk and DJ Earworm, I have been obsessed. Hungry for more, I tried to make a couple of my own (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mixcrate.com%2Fsupadude%2Fjune2011-mix-59634&s=e0304d159284285d0c340550c6ccb6bd3d2f9ad6f3c6bc098c4157db5b4166db" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.mixcrate.com/…</a>) and for years couldn't find a good source of quality mash-up content until I experienced Bootie!

The mash-ups here along with the free CD giveaways and cool acts (crazy contortionist chick was incredible) have restored my faith in the mash-up genre and left me in really good spirits. I also am fully confident that the music here has what it takes to make non-believers see that mash-ups are a lot more artful and thoughtful than just "music for people with A.D.D."

Bottom line is: HOLY CRAP YOU SHOULD GO HERE EVEN THOUGH IT'S $15 COVER AND CASH ONLY AT THE BAR!! YOU WILL HAZ MANY FUNZ.

Thanks again, Bootie- see you next time!

This is my go-to club when there's a cause to celebrate and dance the night away!

The people are not pretentious, and there are a good mix of the nerdy/hipster, and the vulgarly dressed everyday party crowd.
The music is a mash-up of some of the hits on the radio plus something else to kick it up to the next level. They have a mix that you can download on their website if you want to pre-screen.

The dance floor is really big, and when there isn't a show happening, the stage opens up as part of the dance floor.

The cover is a bit pricey ($15-20 depending on the night) and there's no way around it (no guest lists online)- but hey, you get what you pay for and it's usually a good time.

I only wish they had Bootie during Friday nights as well!

I love Bootie! I always have a blast here. The mashups are so good sometimes. Especially when they mix in 80's because I love 80's. Theres no dress code. You can get dressy if you want, or come in wearing jeans and a tee. This place attracts all types of people.

So there's a main big dance floor downstairs, with 2 bars around it. There's also a "stage" area near the DJ that eventually gets used for dancing as well. Then you can go upstairs and there's a little open walkway around the downstairs dance floor, with another bar. Then there's also a smaller dance floor in the back, with some booths for chilling/making out. That area has it's own DJ, usually playing deeper house music. There's also a small bar back there.

Sometimes it gets a little crowded, but I don't think it's ever too bad. It is cash only which sucks, but there's a couple ATMs around the place. There's a $20 cover after like 10 or something. I think it's still $10 before 10 though... so that sucks too. The drinks are also pretty hefty, like $10-12 for an average drink. BUT! I'm still giving it 5 stars because I love this place and can't wait to go back.

Also.... 24 hour pizza place next store. Genius.

I had REALLY high expectations, and they weren't really met.  Probably because I was driving that night.  It wasn't was crowded as I thought it would be, which was nice because I wasn't too hot, buttttt I really thought there'd be more people.

Don't get me wrong, though.  There were still a lot of people!  I bumped into my friends from high school who had come up here after the Stanford / USC game so there were a lot of Stanford students.

Crowd was diverse as it gets!  We all danced on the platforms / stage, jumped around, wandered... it was awesome!

I like that it's open so late... why aren't more places in SF like this?  I liked that you could buy food upstairs.  The only shitty part is that everything is cash only, and there was the cover.

The cover = SO worth it, though.  $15 to be able to keep dancing late into the night?  Why the hell not :)

The music they play here is awesome, but inconsistent.

They start the night off with a lot of 80's and metal mashups, but as the night goes on, it changes to house.

They had a live band that night which was kickass.

This place gets packed so don't be surprised if you see a fight or two.

    Cash only at the bar.

    Ahh. Bootie.

If you plan on being a wall flower, don't go here; your night will suck and you will go home feeling forever alone. However, if you want to get down, whether you go by yourself or go with a fun group of people, it doesn't get much better than Bootie.

The venue is pretty big, yet it gets quite crowded. Cover ranges from 10-20 bucks, but you won't complain once you get inside. There are two dance floors; one ground level and one on stage. There are also elevated tables and boxes in case you wanted everyone to see your great Showgirls impersonation.

There are two bar areas; one downstairs near the dance floor, and one upstairs where there is a big rail area where you get an uncensored view of the dance floors below. Bartenders are very friendly, even on busy nights (most/all of them) and the drinks don't cost that much. Ok, you can go up there and chill and still have a good time, but for your sanity (or insanity) and jolly good time, you better get your ass on the dance floor.

At first glance, you wouldn't expect a mashup of Dr. Dre and Deadmau5 to sound good. In fact, you would imagine it being similar to dragging your nails across a chalkboard. I can't make an exact description, but the DJs made it so it wasn't too wub-wub-wub-wub-ish and not too gangster either. It was a perfect medium, and it got everyone to dance with all this new found energy. The DJs here work the crowd really well.

The crowd is probably the most important aspect of Bootie. Whether you want to try and find a partner, get wild with your friends, or dance like no one is watching, you can do whatever the hell you want. It's not like other dance clubs where there are focused social circles that try and judge everyone else trying to dance, because everyone there came in for one sole reason: TO DANCE! So no matter what you do be like Honey Badger and don't give a sh*t.

TL;DR version of review: Wait for Saturday, go to Bootie, dance your ass off, repeat.

    Notables:
-Beach ball and Reptar inflatables flying around the dancefloor
-Finally understanding how people get down to wubwubwubstep (thank you DJs)
-"Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, but I just ate bath salts; your face looks tasty."
-Failed attempts at crowd surfing (guy ended up planking below instead)

    AMAZING!!!
Loved the diverse and eccentric San Francisco crowd
    Loved the nice bouncers
Loved the fact that DNA Lounge sells food out of what looks like a closet! (I get munchy when I drink)
Loved the fact that my vodka/tonic was only $7 but QUITE stiff!
Loved the MASH UPS... I mean come on, Rihanna vs. Papa Roach? Genius!
    Loved the live music performances

    Also:
Pretty easy to get to off the freeway... we parked at Best Buy about a block away :)
Cash bar only!!! They have ATMs on both floors.
I think $20 is pretty steep cover... I mean this ain't Vegas or Hollywood or anything remotely posh, so why so pricey?? Luckily we got in like 13 seconds before 10:00, so we only had to pay $10.

I will absolutely be back. Absolutely.
