I wish this place was awesome as it is one of the main options for people shaking up in  northern LBI.

    for $60 we got

a bucket of fried clams; it was a pretty paltry amount, no accompanying sauces or anything to dunk those babies in.

we had a craving for steamers....piss clams, softshells...the kind with the foot you dip in broth...they told us they could satiate us but the 'steamers' we got were just shriveled clams steamed in the shell.

we got a 'pound' of fries; it was enough for two but not the 9 of us!! for $60 we had hoped to get a lot more.

I'll try some of those other offerings next time.

My review is only for take out clams. Ate here once a few years ago and liked it, but wasn't overwhelmed.

The clams we get here, however are always great and the place is very convenient for us...only three blocks away.  We'll probably try another place tomorrow, but only to do something different.  Still on my mission to eat clams every day I'm down here!

    EDIT, EDIT...

Ok, so I actually went to Boulevard Clams three times for clams during our stay and each time the clams seemed better.  On our last day in LBI we got 6-dozen top neck clams and they were awesome.  Thanks to Mick L for ideas about jazzing up the dipping butter!  Normally I wouldn't change my review, but the clams were outstanding and the service was friendly each day...so 4 stars it is...

Just to be clear....my review is for a meal my wife and I had in the summer of 2011.
To be fair I have not heard from anyone regarding their experiences this summer.  Hopefully they have gotten their act together.

Their outdoor sign advertised full-belly fried clams which is why I stopped there for a fried clam dinner.  I had memories of my dinners in Maine, and I wanted that experience.

Unfortunately, I was unhappy with what I eventually received.  Tasty but puny clams with hardly any belly at all.  Not too many in there either.   Almost made me want to go back and complain.  The hush puppies were good, and the mayo-based cole slaw was average.

I was expecting a little more for my $19 meal, but I guess I'll have to go back to Maine.

Someone while I was in the restaurant was coming away with a $200+ order, so someone thinks they're good!

The one side is for takeout with refrigerators filled with various seafood.  The other side is a dimly lit no frills restaurant.

I do not think I would come back to Boulevard Clams unless I were with others.

I love Boulevard Clams for the local seafood experience. The last thing I want when I'm down the shore is a fancy eatin' restaurant. It's great that you can BYOB. It keeps the cost of your total bill down. Plus you aren't limited to a drink menu. You bring what you love!

If you're looking to get all dolled up and want a quiet dinner experience that is posh. This is not the place for you.

But if you want really good local seafood without fancy sauces, or you want to pick some blue claws, that are fresh and delicious, w/out breaking the bank. You won't find better.

We had steamed crabs. #1 size $3.15 each. We had the old bay style, (not old bay, they make their own seasoning that taste like old bay) We were delightfully surprised at how large they were. They couldn't have been better. We also had the garlic crabs. I wasn't a huge fan, but my husband liked them. We both agreed they would have been better with fresh garlic instead of the jarred already peeled garlic.

We also had steamed local clams, yum. And shrimp cocktail. Both were  delicious.

We brought Yuengling beer with us. They brought over a tub of ice for us to keep it cool.

So keep your flip flops on and head on over.

Wish I was there! Can't get a good blue claw crab in California. Boo hoo.

I read the other reviews. I'm not a family member or even a friend of anyone that owns or works here.

Brittney, our server, was great but food was mediocre at best. Ahi tuna ordered rare was overcooked, mussels were small and lackluster, softshell crabs were tasty but cooked in way too much oil, and mac and cheese ordered from kids menu came from a box. An overpriced mistake.

There is NO way that the good reviews here are realistic.  It must be a family memeber or owner. This place was horrible...the shrimp cocktail (hard to screw up) was overcooked and not fresh, as well as the mussells. I was shocked b/c the appearance was that of a fish market and the freshness i thought would be a must. The cocktail and tartar sauce was on the counter at room temperature (not good).

Have to agree with previous reviewer. Used to be our go-to place for years. Last year not so much.  The special crab cakes were always my favorite. Not on the menu as far as I could determine now. Also always loved their unusual desserts but these are no more either. Seems like the spark went out of the place. Will try once more again this season hoping for improvement.

Best for takeout. Eat in, not so much.

    Worst Seafood Ever.
I must say, I would have thought that this place was good from when I walked in, everything appeared fresh, typical seafood place...
    Well I was wrong!

I ordered The Buffalo Mako, Cajun Swordfish, and Tuna steak seafood extravaganza, Everything was Horrible, small portions, food was not prepared with any tact, Extremely expensive for the amenitites and ambiance. My wifes meal was runny, she ordered the crab linguini and the cream sauce was not creamy at all. Refills on the soda came as a inconvenice to our server, the service was less than responsive and WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN THE Place, I should have known.
