Great food but found the lady behind the counter rude. She was on the phone when we arrived and simply kept talking for a while, making us wait to place our order. The conversation didn't even sound urgent.
On the bright side, the food was pretty good. The guilder lobster rollwich was very good as well as their clam chowder. The "humvee," with tomatoes, alfalfa, and avocado was good as well.
Maybe it's because I am from the San Francisco bay area and we are resolute foodies, that I didn't find this place impressive. Â Let's start with the positive: 1) love the idea of quick beach wraps in a coastal community. That was it. If we get to the sandwich itself, "where's the beef?" The sando's are small, simple, and lacking flavor or vision. They will do the job, but next year I am compelled to bring some of our local gourmet aioli's so I can SPREAD the love at the Lunch Box. I am not shutting this place out completely, I just see an extraordinary opportunity for a true tasty sando shop on the cape.
Review Source:This place is awesome for getting a sandwich to bring along to the beach. They also serve coffee to help with the recovery efforts if you were at The Beachcomber the night before. Â
This place is a bit unique because all of their sandwiches are served on pita's instead of sub rolls. Â It's pretty affortable too. Â I recommend the grilled chicken avocado thingy.
Most beach side fast food is predictable and prosaic, but we loved this particular establishment with its bold departure from the usual cheeseburgers and frozen fish sandwiches. Â
My wife had the Captain Chicken with its fresh avocado and I sprang for the Ferdinand with heated roast beef and three cheeses. Â The menu features many other items all rolled up in flat bread. Â In addition to the fillings, you can choose your flavor of bread at this location which include tomato, spinach, and garlic among others.
There's a fine variety of sodas to be had as well as chips.
Seating was problematic, but it was easy enough to pack up your lunch and carry it off to one of the Cape's nearby beaches for a picnic.
This is as close to a chain as it gets on the Cape, but don't let that deter you!
I've been coming here since I was a wee lass and some of the menu staples have been there for over decade. These staples are as tasty and inventive as the new sandwiches they come up with.
Everything is made right in front of you and is fresh and healthy. I recommend the Californian and the Priscilla Alden.
I like the Truro and Wellfleet locations best. The P-Town location has the same great food but the service is sometimes a little off-putting.
Box Lunch is popping up all over the Cape. If you have never been to one, you must try it! Inventive wraps and sandwiches and just all around pretty decent food for cheap prices. There isn't much to these places but they serve up some pretty healthy items and they use local food and have an excellent selection of inventive menu items! This location is off Route 6 and is tucked away in a small shopping center. Try it out! Good stuff!
