Montano's Restaurant

Despite the fact that I've been vacationing in Truro for almost two decades, last night was the first time I tried Montano's.  Superb!  Enjoyed the pasta with bolognese: memorable for the both freshness of the pasta and the lightness of the sauce.  Not the most physically intimate of restaurants, but let the food speak for itself.  Highly recommended in the Truro area.  Food right up there with Blackfish and Terra Luna.

Sixteen years ago I had dinner at Montano's and found it to be the first awful meal I had had in twenty years of summering and dining in Provincetown and Truro.  So despite having been back on the Outer Cape every summer since then, I have avoided Montano's.  Things change in sixteen years so the other night we gave Montano's a try.  The waitress was as friendly as can be and the "authentic" Italian music being played was a nice touch.  But dinner was again the poorest I've had in the area.  The "Duck Ragu" seemed more like a can of Dinty Moore beef stew added to a bowl of Mueller's egg noodles and left out to dry and congeal for a day or so before heating up to serve.  My dinner companions were equally disappointed with their choices. Maybe I've been spoiled by a life of enjoying  Italian restaurants in NYC, but I am also comparing this restaurant to a couple of dozen others one can choose from when spending time in the Truro/Provincetown area.  Sorry, Montano's I won't be back sixteen years from now.

The only restaurant in it's immediate area, surrounded by sand dunes and route 6.  This place is popular for the locals due to it's reasonable prices for Cape Cod and large menu.  The food is pretty good, we enjoyed the steak tips, johnny burger, and pasta dishes.

The waitstaff is very friendly and recognizes faces from town.  The wine list is extensive and offers more than most of the other venues in the area.  The owner is very involved with the restaurant, introducing himself and making sure all the guests are having a great time - I appreciate an owner that takes pride in his business.

My friends and I will definitely be back!
