Buck Shorts Dugout

I can hardly call this place "Nightlife", but because it has a full bar and is trying to be a sports bar, I had to put it in that category. This place closes at 10pm weekdays or 11pm on the weekends. Lame! Like I said before, there is a full bar, but it goes to waste because the bartender has zero knowledge of drinks, customer service, bar etiquette, and alcohol. Maybe if she had a personality it would make up for the horrible drinks She put kamikazes in a shot glass, not a shooter glass. Actually, it was more like lime juice in a shot glass. She strained the drinks at our table, so all of the overspill went on our table instead of the bar mats. And she brought us the wrong beers twice. There is a difference between Bud Light and Coors Light.  Apparently, her boyfriend was more important that making money.  There was only 1 other person in there and he was annoyingly drunk. The food was decent, but nothing that I would go out of my way for. One person in our group got a hot dog and it was pathetic. A huge bun with what looked like a store bought regular hot dog. And none of the condiments were on it that the menu specified it came with.  I got a sandwich and although the menu made it sound flavorful, it was seriously lacking. I can now understand why I have heard sub par things about this "bar" and why it was so empty when I was there (8pm on a Friday). I am a regular to the bars and restaurants in Folsom, and work on Sutter St. so we all compare notes on what's new in town. I wouldn't grow too attached to this place. When a bunch of bartenders can't have fun drinking at your bar, then you're doing something wrong.

I thought I'd give this new place a try (and even went back a couple times due to it being so new) it was the WRONG choice and a waste of money. Although the two owners are very nice men, they lack restaurant experience BIG-TIME! The chef is from Chops Steakhouse and I can see why they fired him as his food dishes lack taste-flavor, quality, meat-size and when you have to PAY an additional $2 for fries (they are not included w/burgers-sandwiches-hot dogs) that's even more ridiculous! The bartender Abby is horrendously terrible at this type of work-PERIOD! Buck Shorts has a full bar, which is good, but it goes to waste because the bartender-Abby has absolutely zero bartending experience and had no knowledge of drinks, terrible customer service and terrible bar etiquette. She's VERY unfriendly and has a personality of a rattlesnake. I sat there waiting for her to take my order (there was hardly no one in there and I was even sitting in the bar area) and it took her TEN-MINUTES to take my drink order! And she was very rude about asking me what I wanted, etc. If she at least would be friendly-sweet-nice, it would make up for the horrible drinks she makes. I can now understand why I have heard negative things about this place and why it's so empty all the time. If they want to stay afloat in this industry (especially how competitive Folsom is) they need to fire Abby and get a real bartender w/great customer service and make bigger quality burgers and quality food in general with great flavor and taste!
