I've been here for both brunch and lunch. It is definitely an upscale place but not too stuffy. Sitting on the sidewalk on warm days is a nice touch.

Food: The food has always been good, but hasn't blown my mind. I will be back though because of the wide variety and interesting menu options.

Service: Outstanding. It is rare that I actually remember the service I received days or weeks later. Our server was prompt with extra water (we were thirsty), helpful when it came to choosing food and drink, and most importantly made me laugh by inadvertently asking me a dirty question at the end of the meal: "Would you like to do the dude for dessert?" Why yes, I would like to do the dude for dessert. :)

Descriptive phrase: upscale but neighborly dining.

Buckley's is one of those great additions to a neighborhood, even if my experience was a bit poor. It's housed in a classic Milwaukee building on a corner downtown. The inside is a bit small with a tiny bar, but they also have outdoor seating on the sidewalk with small trees in planters to block the car noise.

I walk by every day and see great-looking food and happy people. Finally I was able to stop by for an early dinner with some friends.

We walked into the restaurant to ask to sit outside. There was no one to greet us, so I had to flag down a waiter and let them know. They said okay and yelled to another worker and pointed at us saying "outside." This next worker came over and just walked past us, not even saying "hello" or "this way please." Very rude introduction to the place.

We were seated right away. It took another 5 minutes for anyone to stop by with menus. Our waitress said she'd give us a minute to look over the drinks, but then disappeared for 15. When she finally came back she made the excuse "sorry, I got a bit lost inside." It's like a 20x20 room in there, are you kidding me? She took our drink order and left.

The table next to us was seated, ordered, and received their drinks from a different waitress before ours ever returned. When she finally did, maybe another 15 minutes later, she only brought half the drinks.

I ordered the Blood and Sand drink ($9), which was perfectly made and served in a neat, retro glass.

My meal was the Pork Chop special that day ($21?). It was served on a bed of roasted veggies, with a large amount of asparagus. The vegetables were delicious, but I wasn't thrilled about the pork. It was fatty, and the parts that weren't fat were a bit chewy. Still, the poor piece of meat was cooked well. Katie K.'s Lobster Roll sandwich ($14), however, was very good.

Overall I was a bit disappointed. My drink was good, and while my order of food was poor I found others' to be tasty, but the service was outright bad. I live nearby and would love to come back, but my first try at Buckley's gives me pause. I'd definitely try something else from the menu next time.

I have never had a bad experience here.  The service is friendly and informed, the atmosphere relaxed and the food OUT OF THIS WORLD! The grilled chicken wedge salad: YUM.  The Brit Burger: to DIE for.  Brunch on the sidewalk:  A memory to hold on to.

If you haven't experienced a welcoming hug from Mike or a snappy drink from Britt, then you've not fully experienced Milwaukee.  Check it out.

Call ahead for a reservation. Always busy.

Alright... I came here with a friend for dinner and we both ordered food on the lighter side. Even so, each of our plates were around $15 each. The taste was eh...nothing out of the ordinary. I do miss the old Lake Side Inn (I think that's what this place was called years back). It was a much better value and in my opinion, better food. The ambiance was nice and service decent.

Visited Buckley's twice; first time for Sunday breakfast, second time for dinner. High quality food prepared with passion. Portions are perfect. In the top five of Milwaukee restaurants. Seating is limited do not arrive without reservations.

I worked a block away and wanted to eat at Buckley's for about 5 years now.  I have now been to the promised land... and it is good.

We were seated right away despite being a little early for our reservation.  Very friendly staff all around.  I was having a really hard time deciding between a lobster roll and a reuben... and then they told me about the braised short ribs special.  It then became a three horse race.

I went with the corned beef sandwich (essentially a reuben with gruyere cheese), and I won!  I think I might've won no matter what I chose, though.  The corned beef was tender with plenty of cheese and russian dressing.  The bread was marble rye and that was the correct bread.  They made me pay a dollar extra for sauerkraut.  This really annoyed me, but I will try to move forward with my life.

I also tried Ms. Particular's Wild Boar and Mr. Particular's Short Ribs.  This place can do no wrong.  Those ribs were especially tender - fallin' off that bone.  Delicious to the max.

Sides?  You wanna know about sides?  The brussel sprouts were awesome!  They had Kimchi in them and had a very unique flavor.  I found the brussel sprouts to be better than the artichokes but My Best Gal disagrees with me.  She was way into those 'chokes.

I love dessert.  All of theirs sounded really good.  Carrot cake? yes.  Key Lime Pie? yes.  Tuxedo cake? I may be a bit underdressed, but oh yes please.  I almost got a piece to take home and eat on the couch while I watched the Brewers game.  That's how I like to do things,  that's my style.  But I didn't, because I'm getting married soon and I want to be really hot in my photos.  I will be returning and I will try every damn one of those desserts.

As far as price goes, it's a fancier place but the sandwich selection makes it so you can really eat for a reasonable price if you want to.  I split a couple of veggie sides, ate a reuben, and drank water and my share was $18 with tax and tip.  WORTH IT.

This is really a gem of the neighborhood!  Fantastic and creative food options, quality service and the actual restaurant has ambiance galore.  Great place to take a date.

OH MY GOSH!! This was perhaps the best meal I've had all year! Absolutely wonderful.

Highly, highly recommend the side of artichokes. Every one at our table was just speechless by how great these were. I am an artichoke conosuier.... and this would definitely be involved in my last meal on earth. PERFECTION!!

SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT!!! The desserts are all homemade on site. Although we were all stuffed - we decided to try the cheesecake with peanut butter frosting. O.M.G.  I'm not a big dessert eater, but this was heavenly. There are no words for how yummy this dessert was. Only could muster 2 bites, but I wish I lived in the city so I could return for a full slice any time I wanted.

And the owner is just the cutest - most engaging guy. He chatted with us - but not too much that he was annoying. He timed the delivery of our food nicely.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and I couldn't have chosen a better place for the occasion. I have to agree with Laura's review. I do think if this place were in Chicago it might be more popular...But for my own selfish reasons, I'm glad it's not! Haha (evil laugh)! More room for us.

The place is located in an older, 19th century house downtown.  I fell in love with the ambiance immediately. It's cozy inside with a long, old-fashioned bar and a mix of vintage and modern decor. It seems kind of hidden on the corner, and once you step up to the door it's like the movie Midnight in Paris where you suddenly transition from the busy, modern world into the 1920's. It would be a great place to go and have a happy hour drink after work. Everything slows down and it's like being in another place at another time after a hectic day.

The tables were formally set, which is rarer these days, and the service was excellent and on the formal side. The food was delicious and had that sought-after combination of a laborious home-cooked meal layered with complex, in-depth flavors. It's sort of like what these new places like Wolf Peach are trying to pull off these days, but haven't quite gotten there yet.

Buckley's obviously got there long ago and has better food and better service than most restaurants in a comparable price range.

This is definitely a great lunch/dinner place.  Order the banh mi pork sandwich.  Get a slice of the carrot cake to go.  It is that simple.

Great atmosphere, the bartender/ waitress that works the late afternoon Friday shift was also very attentive and friendly.

Since my first visit, I tried their breakfast and was not impressed.  Ordered 3 different dishes to try and everything was average at best.  The Eggs Benedict lacked any flavor.  The french toast was bland.  The corned beef hash was perhaps the worst I have ever experienced.   Stick with lunch or dinner.

Buckley's is seriously the CUTEST place ever. Just a tiny little corner restaurant, with tons of charm. During summer they have seating on the sidewalk outside, and with their striped umbrellas and tons flower pots, it is just as cute as can be.

Aside from their cuteness factor, Buckley's is a great place for brunch or dinner (I have yet to go there for lunch. but would assume it is just as great). The service is uber-friendly, and the owner, who is the nicest, is usually there. The menu offers some unique options and every time I've been there they had some speicals as well. I didn't give them the 5 stars, simply because I always expect to be amazed with their food after reading the menu, and I always feel a littel underwhlemed with my meal. So their food, while pretty good, is not the most memorable. But I will definitely be back again.

Under the radar Friday night fish fry!

I've been to Buckleys numerous times for lunch or Friday happy hour.  The service and food has always been excellent.

BUT I think everyone should try their Friday Fish Fry.  My fiancé and I went for a belated Valentines Day dinner and had a great time,  we started with the Parmesan artichoke dip (it's huge!) and a couple glasses of wine.  We ordered fish fry and substituted a side salad for the fries.  I know...fried fish isn't exactly healthy but the salad helped us justify it!

Dessert...if you like sweets then this is your place.  All of the desserts are made by the owners wife. We had the carrot cake and it was delicious.

We had a great seat right next to the front windows.  The only negative was the draft when the front door opened.

I would also recommend Buckleys for a happy hour.  They have the coolest old bar in the city.  I believe it's originally from Ireland and spent some time in NYC before coming to Milwaukee.

Great place.  Great character.  Great service

    Window table cold
Carrot cake made by owner wife
    Under radar fish fry
    Great for happy hour
    Old bar
    Ton of character

Great food! Attentive service! Just a very pleasant and relaxing Sunday morning brunch!
In the interest of full disclosure I am no fan of the egg so there were some brunch entrees that were 'off limits' for me. The good news is That i had a choice of a goodly number of non egg offerings. I choose the croque monsieur sans basted egg and it was yummy. Whole grain mustard provided a nice zing to the gruyere cheese and ham sandwich and the waiter did not bat an eye when I requested just a bit more mustard for dipping...only suggestion is to allow a choice of delicious fried potatoes or a side salad....rather than just the greens and dressing....my understanding from my fellow diners is that the eggs Benedict was scrumptious...
There was a charming and creative choice of clever libations to accompany the victuals....it was thumbs up all around for bloodies and mimosas....
Savor Sunday mornings at Buckley's.... You will be glad that you did...

Fantastic.  If this place were in Chicago, there would be a two-hour wait every night.

For dinner, it was quiet and quaint.  Gracious service.  I ordered a cocktail that just wasn't for me (jalapeno-infused something) and didn't say anything.  I just ordered wine instead.  Without saying a word, they removed the cocktail and didn't charge me for it.    I was pleasantly surprised.

Surf & turf and lobster roll sandwich were big hits with us.  I've been thinking about that sandwich for weeks.  Is it crazy to plan a return trip to Milwaukee just to eat here?

I can't speak to the restaurant/food side of Buckley's because I always just order drinks, but I was quite impressed by the service, drinks, and ambiance. I have passed through here for the last 3 New Year's Eves, and the bartender, Britt, remembers me and my group each year. He is a top notch bartender with a great attitude and a wealth of knowledge.

If you're looking for a great date place, a place to catch up with friends, or just a place to meet some friendly people, Buckley's is worth a visit.

I came here for dinner with a friend on a random night because of it's close proximity to MAM ( I was at MAM After Dark, a fabulous event if you are curious). It was around 7:30 on a Friday night, we had no reservation and of course it was absolutely packed. The place is tiny with small tables and no waiting area besides the bar, which is also tiny. Luckily after about 5 minutes of waiting a gentleman at the bar offered us his and his wife's seats as they were leaving.

We were happy to eat at the bar. The bartender was very busy but was friendly and we didn't go thirsty at all. Even though it was busy, the food also arrived quickly. I had the Chicken Panini (chicken, ham, jam, fontina and pesto) and my friend had the fish fry. The sandwich was excellent. The fish fry was crispy, not greasy, beer battered and also very good. I will definitely be back to this charming gem to try some more menu items and for happy hour, but will be sure to have reservations next time I come for dinner!

I am finally writing after my second visit.  I am an Eastsider and happen to run past Buckley's on a regular basis.  I've always thought it is about the cutest restaurant in Milwaukee.  I wasn't disappointed by the decor.  I love the Tiffany blue with black and white accents.  There is something about it that feels comfortable but still kinda special.

I first ate at Buckley's about two years ago.  I don't remember what I had.  Not a good sign.  (I also think I got in some mini argument with my boyfriend though too so that may have had something to do with it.)  Last summer we (same boyfriend...no need for concern based on above-mentioned argument) looked at the apartment right next to Buckley's, owned by the same people who own Buckley's and they mentioned they had a new chef.

When I went to Buckley's last Sunday night for a farewell dinner for a friend, it was with cautious excitement.  Excited because I really want this place to be on my list of favorite places.  Cautious because of my last less than stellar experience and because I inconveniently had started a month-long Paleo diet challenge the week before.  When all was said and done, I was so impressed.

I splurged for the special, a veal chop.  Best veal I've ever had.  Hands down.  The cut of the chop was really good but the flavor was just outstanding.  It was dressed with some kind of bulgar that I couldn't eat and . . . these ridiculous, amazing sautéed brussel sprouts.  They tasted like they just sat in a cast iron pan that had been handed down for generations until a moment before they burned.  The flavor and caramelization was just fantastic.  The table also had beef carpaccio and the octopus salad.  Both were really very good.  The other highlight was dessert.  We had turtle cake.  It looked impeccable.  I dipped my fork in for a little taste (it's not cheating on the diet if you don't have to chew it right?), seriously out of this world.  Apparently one of the owners makes all of the desserts from scratch.  This WILL be the go-to dessert and coffee spot from now on.

It took kind of a long time for the food to come out.  Not a big deal because we weren't in a hurry but it was something I noticed.  Another little thing, our server seemed kind of annoyed at us from the get go.  Don't get me wrong, she smiled and said all the right things but just gave this "you guys are annoying me" vibe.

Looking forward to making this spot a more regular part of my Eastside experience.

This is a 3.5 star review really...their brunch entrees were good...really good...but there was just one thing that stopped me from giving them 4 stars.

This place is a small food joint with a bar, several 4 persons tables, and walls with a type of tiffany blue-like color to it. Not digging the server's uniforms however...but oh well...

Duck Ragu Polenta: This was sooo good. I really want to find a recipe for this! It was a CREAMY polenta served with a duck confit w/ragu sauce on top. I keep wanting fore of it!

Beer-battered French Toast: It wasn't bad...but it wasn't great. Could not tell the difference from regular batter and beer-battered. It was more like your normal french toast.

CAUTION: do not order a side of sausage...at least from our experience. They served us old or expired sausage. It smelled foul and it tasted like it was made from meat that had been sitting out for days. Was NOT appetizing. The waitress we had was also not all that...she didn't seem like she cared too much...you can tell she was just working to pay those bills...not much of a smile.

It was a good brunch place and I will be back to eat but that sausage...such a downer.

Great spot I haven't been to in a number of years. Our server (Jordan) did a great job, providing great service, with great timing. I had the Sturgeon, while others in our party had the Boar and the Salmon special. No complaints, perfect sizing, albeit not "wisconsin" portions, and a great home made dessert menu.

A small restaurant with a neat feel; the small menu changes often to incorporate seasonal tastes.

Everything looked delicious; I went for breakfast and got to taste the Guinness French toast with thick sliced smokey bacon, homemade pop tarts, and eggs Benedict. All were very good!

After tax and tip, expect to spend around $15.

We stopped at Buckley's for brunch around 11am on Sunday before heading back to Chicago.  I think I just got my hopes up too high after being recommended to come here from friends and all of the great Yelp reviews :)

I called ahead to check if there was a wait, and to my surprise there was not.  They also had a table waiting for us once we arrived.  I really liked the interior of the restaurant and even commented to my BF how much I liked the wall color.  (He made a "yuck" face.)

I had the Harvest Breakfast, and the star of my entree was the goat cheese sauce.  If they sold that in a bottle, I would have taken a case to go.  While the rest of the things on the plate seemed like something I could make at home, the sauce was delicious.

BF got the Steak & Egg wrap which is the part of the meal that brought my rating from a 4 to a 3.  He really enjoyed it, but it was just very abnormally small.  After a late night, we were looking for a substantial brunch and this didn't fill him up.  By the time we arrived home to Chicago an hour and a half after eating, he was already looking up pizza places to get another meal.

Decently priced, but I would still have liked for both of us to leave full.

Great decor and ambience! For brunch I opted for the french toast, which came with the most delicious strips of bacon I've ever eaten! The french toast itself was alright I thought. Would have loved to try the butternut squash soup but they did not have it.

As with most new places I try I decided to order as much as I could from Buckley's menu to get a true feel for how good the place really is.

A special Bruschetta appetizer was delicious as were the mini Kobe sliders.  The potato gnocchi with short ribs caught our eye as we thought that was a unique appetizer option.  It was good but it was more of a short rib "sauce" than actual pieces of meat in the dish.  I feel it would have been better suited as an entree option because it arrived at our table as any other pasta dish would which made it a little awkward when sharing.

The consensus was that all the entrees were above average.  I changed things up by ordering a sandwich because the Banh mi caught my eye.  The pork had really good flavor and a good amount of spice to it but I felt that there could have been more on my sandwich and that it was mostly bread.

All in all we had a delightful time here and I would recommend it to be a great place to take a date.

Wow! Five visits so far and each one has ranged from Spectacular to Very Good.
We're addicted to the Fried artichoke side dish - crunchy, salty, buttery, amazing goodness.
The Wild Boar Pasta is as good as everyone says it is.
Love the small focused menu, the interesting specials, the half price mid-week wine deals.
Most of all, the staff are rock stars, especially Jordan - who we now request each visit.

Three visits in a little over a week?  Suffice it to say that I'm a fan.  Located in my favorite neighborhood in Milwaukee, it's a really cool spot to really just take in the East Town vibe, enjoy the nearby architecture (if you're dining outside), and enjoy a nice glass of wine and relax.  I'll agree with some of the reviewers around my age - when my wife and I visited over the weekend we were easily the youngest people there.  I'd attribute that more to demographics and location rather than the fare.  I've been told that East Town is the most expensive neighborhood to live in Milwaukee, which would lend to the presumption that the people who can afford to live there (who tend to be older) could just walk on over.  Also, when you factor in the trendy Cathedral Square and Milwaukee Ave hotspots just a few blocks away...the clientele you see here begins to make a little more sense.

Art deco really isn't my thing, but they make it work.  Corkage is only $15, something to keep in mind if you want to have a special dinner there.  The two times I've visited for lunch I've had very enjoyable meals.  The Bahn Mi sandwich is pretty good, but you can't really mess up asian BBQ and pickled vegetables.  The one suggestion I have for this sandwich is to maybe include a dipping sauce, perhaps a ginger-soy sauce or vinaigrette, as the bread can suck some of the moisture out.  The beef and sundried tomato salad was perfect. A great, light lunch option.  I plan on having that a few more times this week.

The dinner I had there was very good as well.  Beef tenderloin cooked to a perfect medium with a beautiful sear.  The accompanying fingerling potatoes and steamed kale with a red, ketchup-based sauce (forgot the name) made for an interesting. My wife's salmon dish was also very tasty.

Don't want to spend too much time typing...but they really know how to do their desserts.  The key lime pie was so good that I actually went back and tried to purchase another piece.  Unfortunately they were out for the day.  I will be back on my cheat day for like four slices.

My parents came for a visit and wanted to try a place we've never been before. I live on the Eastside and constantly go by this place and it's never dawned on me to actually go in and try it, so I thought why not check it out now.  You walk into a very nicely decorated but small space and on your left is the bar and on the right and in front of you are some tables.  We were greeted by the owner, who was very nice, and promptly got some waters and then had our server explain to us the daily specials.  I started with a 50/50 Bloody Mary which was 50/50 mix of house infused Bacon Vodka and house infused Habanero vodka garnished with an olive, pickle, & bacon slice.  Was kinda odd though that the beer chaser was a dollar extra when 99% of restaurants in Milwaukee just include it.

We got our drinks and got served four slices of baguette with butter while our food was cooking.  My father got the corned beef sandwich, which was basically a fancy rueben except if you wanted saurkraut it was once again $1 extra.  My sister got the Brie & Tomato melt, my mother got a chicken salad special, and I got the duck breast filet sandwich special.  Everything looked and tasted fantastic!

Overall, it was a great first time experience and I look forward to going back and trying the Banh-Mi sandwich or the Bacon Bleu Fries.

Went to lunch at Buckley's with a co-worker who's also trained as a chef, so she's one tough customer to please. She ordered the Tuna Harissa Salad which featured harissa rubbed tuna, green beans, fava beans, mesclun greens, an 8 minute
egg, roma tomatoes, red onions and capers in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. What a beautiful salad that was! Tuna was served rare (as good tuna should be). If anything, she would have enjoyed a larger portion of tuna, but knowing how expensive top-quality seafood costs, it's understandable that portions are controlled

I had the Banh Mi sandwich with Vietnamese style BBQ pork, pickled carrots and daikon, cilantro, jalapeño and a chili sambal sauce. It was very tasty and flavorful. The side salad that came with it was fresh and delicious as well.

We took a chance on their key lime pie and were delighted with the results! Never before have I seen key lime pie baked in a chocolate pie shell. It was accompanied by a drizzle of raspberry sauce and was absolutely superb.

Next time I go to Buckley's (hopefully sooner than later) I want to try a couple of different appetizers because they look so good. Their chicken salad looks amazing as well.

The story behind this restaurant is pretty interesting because it involves two generations of a family working together. From what I understand, the Mom is pastry chef and her sons run the front of house operation. Chef Thi Cao's background is interesting as well.  He's a former software engineer who quit the corporate world and went back to school at the California School of Culinary Arts. He's worked at several fine-dining restaurants and is the ultimate professional when it comes to menu design and flawless execution. Because he's trained in engineering, he pays close attention to details which is evident in the dishes emerging from his kitchen.

Stopped in here over Memorial Day weekend. Husband and I took a drive up to Milwaukee to check out the art museum. After a morning of art we had a late brunch/lunch.

We were lucky it was just the two of us as it seemed like a lot of 4+ parties who had reservations. But there was a two-seat table available inside so we were seated right away.

I had a special melon soup which was very good and what was the equivalent of a very well done croque-monsieur sandwich. Being that it is my favorite sandwich I was well pleased with this version (the addition of the basted egg was fabulous, so thank you to the server for the recommendation!)
My husband had a more savory soup (I can't recall what flavor) and the mile-high quiche. He offered me a bite and it was quite good.

We were both tempted by the Guinness french toast so we will just have to go back for that!

We were impressed by the price/value of our brunch/lunch and noted that it would almost be as much time spent in the car to drive up to Milwaukee for brunch versus heading into Chicago. You don't have to pay north of $20 to park in Milwaukee, either.

As an added bonus you can stop at Mars Cheese Castle and Woodman's Grocery on the drive back to Illinois for cheese and some New Glarus beers :)

Visited Buckley's today for the first time for lunch.
The restaurant decor is charming and inviting and the staff was very courteous.
Our server was very attentive and when I asked to switch soups (only because I realized that green pea wasn't my thing - not because it wasn't good quality) she didn't blink and brought a different type.  I had the seared tuna appetizer and it was excellent.
Cheeseburger and Ruben sandwich were both excellent.  Sandwiches weren't drowned in sauces and salads weren't swimming in dressing (a big plus for me).
    I will definitely return!

Buckley's was by far the gem of my weekend trip to Milwaukee. Naturally, I used Yelp to help make the decision as to where to try, but the crux of the decision was proximity to the hotel and not number of stars. Thank goodness this place was close!

I immediately fell in love with Buckley's. It's in a quiet area, on the corner, with outdoor seating (but not too much) and charming indoor eating areas (but again, not too much). It was so nice to be in a restaurant that was of average volume for once! We didn't have a reservation, so we waited at the bar - and I'll tell you what, the extensive list of brunch-tails and traditional cocktails was almost (almost!) enough to make me forget the previous night's bender. If I make another trip up to MKE, I will certainly put Buckley's on the list again just for the drinks.

We were seated outside and had great service. I was worried since we were around the corner but nope, she was there when she needed to be and gone when she didn't. I just about died when I found out the special was Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict - I mean really, is there even a question? She barely had time to give the full description before I was asking for it. The crab cakes were breaded and crispy and sat perfectly atop a non-soggy English muffin with a delicious hollandaise over the best poached egg I've had yet. Nothing was too runny, but it all gelled perfectly together so that every bite had every component. The man friend thoroughly enjoyed his Guinness/cinnamon/sugar French toast, which I would have tried if the thought of eating all my calories for breakfast didn't make me want to cry.

Two drinks and all of that deliciousness for only about $35 (with tip) makes this place a winner in my book.

I feel like I have discovered the holy grail of Milwaukee grub!

Blue cheese and bacon fries? To die for.
    Fried Jerusalem artichoke appetizer? Otherworldly.
    Wilde boar pasta? Hell yes.

So far have loved every single item I've had and am looking forward to trying many many more.

It is a tiny place, but so worth whatever the wait may be.

The decor of Buckley's is where my like for them starts. They use the Tiffany Blue and Brownish Black crown molding that instantly makes you feel at ease upon entering.

The bartenders are great if you are looking to sit there, or their waitstaff is also quite good.

They have brunch that I would highly recommend. They cook your eggs just right. None of that burny bubble over medium eggs that you can sometimes come to find in mass produced kitchens where they are cooking things too fast at too high of a heat.

If you are a salad lover.. EAT THE CHOPPED CHICKEN SALAD. I have to control myself when I eat this and I always try to save a little to savor later that day or the next day. It stays good, which is hard to find when a salad is usually predressed.

If you are a cheesesteak lover, you gotta try this on their menu too.

Their soups always are phenom. Its always a toss up for me between the soup of the day or the lobster bisque. Sometimes I get both if I am feeling it.

Their motto is spot on: Great food, Great people.

The food and drink selection would easily deserve a four, but what sets Buckley's apart is their outstanding customer service.

The Buckley brothers (and don't forget father) do the small things right and make you feel like you are stopping by a friends house for a dinner or a quick drink.  This is the key to their success when many other restaurants in that same spot have failed.

The menu isn't large, but you really can't make a bad choice.  My favorites are the burger and grilled chicken club sandwich, but I will never pass when their daily special is their homemade meatloaf with garlic mash potatoes.  And don't forget to try their blue-cheese fries - great for sharing!

On the drinks side, the beer and wine menu is outstanding and changing all of the time.  Their cocktails are each handcrafted - from their martinis to their excellent old fashions (not many places will still make one by muddling and not from a pre-made mix).  Their drinks specials (1/2 off of: martinis on Tuesday, wine on Wednesdays, and micro beers on Thursday) also make this a great place to try something new without breaking the budget.

If you are looking for a nice place for a happy hour, after a show downtown (it is a quick walk from the Art Museum) or a first date Buckley's is a great choice.
