C Meats occupy the former Deli space of Bests' Kosher. And have basically followed in Bests' footsteps of providing a kick ass deli/lunch stand  for a very underserved part of the south side!
C meats' lunch stand offers basically the same selection that the old Bests' stand offered, with the exception being that Vienna Beef products are now served), and thus non-kosher. Deli Meats are provided by Boar's Head.
Prices are decent, but the ammount of food served compensates.
The deli is well stocked with Vienna and Boars' Head products, as well asother staples for a cookout, deli feast. I was here with my neighbor, and we LOVED the fact that C meats offered quite a big selection of "ends"(the leftovers from deli meat rolls) at killer prices. I was able to sample different types of meat at a cheap price.
One big drawback is that C meats is only Mon-Fri. I would like a weekend to stop over and load up before a Sox game.
WooHoo!
It's like Best Kosher is back on Pershing! Â Stopped in to C Meats for a hot dog and they have the "challah" buns back.
I've been stopping in sporadically over the last several months and have enjoyed the corned beef & the pastrami sandwiches (on rye) very much. Â But one thing I missed from the Best Kosher days was the egg-bun for the gigantic hot dogs ... that's all in the past now (I hope).
