Johnny O's

Johnny O's is my main place for drunk food after Maria's or Bernice's, or if I'm too lazy to go buy groceries.  As a liquor store it's pretty poor.  The booze is overpriced compared to CVS, especially if it's refrigerated (yes, they charge more for cold beer.)  But as a greasy food joint it's fantastic.  Cheeseburgers, dogs, fried shrimp, breaded steak - it's all there.  The best part is it's open 24 hours, so no matter how debaucherous your night has been, Johnny O's will be there for you.

Protip: call your order in ahead.  If you order $5 or more they give a free can of pop, $10 nets you 2 cans of pop.  I think if you call in orders over $15 they start throwing in free dogs too, but I'm not entirely sure about that because when I'm at the point that I'm ordering $15+ worth of Johnny O's, I'm definitely not going to remember that night.

Edit: They have discontinued their free pop deal.  Kind of bummed about this.  I gotta drop them down to 4 stars in the hope that they'll see this and reinstitute the policy.

24 hours, good hotdogs, good fries....depending on who's working that day. Everyone tends to be obsessed with the chicken nuggets, but I wouldn't suggest them if you're picky about your chicken textures. Pretty quick, satisfying, open a lot. Dudes are cool. Yum!

When it comes to dives, these guys are one of my favorites, namely for the experience more than anything. The food is pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary. They flaunt their Mother-In-Law tamale, but their real bragging right lies in their breakfast plates. Big portions of your favorite bacon, eggs, toast, etc. combo places, and they're not shy around the frier.
What makes this place so cool though is the fact that they really do care about their customers. Every time I go in, they seem to remember me, and I always end up having long talks with the manager. He pointed us in the direction of a killer art gallery and some other pretty cool places to check out. If you really get him going he'll even hook it up with some free food every now and then.
