Well I will agree with some of the other reviewers that stepping into here is like a momentary trip to the Caribbean. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted.
I had a chicken curry roti which is kind of like a burrito but wrapped in roti which is an Indian bread, well you get the idea. Served with a tiny container of sauce. The sauce was deceivingly hot - it must of had scotch bonnet which is so common in Caribbean food. The roti also contained potatoes which reminded me of eating a curry pot pie. I also got an order of macaroni and cheese pie which was way too much food with the roti.
I phoned in my order and it was ready promptly. I grabbed it and stepped out from the tropics and back out to the reality that is a Chicago winter...
Goat Roti Wrap and a side dish of Macaroni Pie.
- this dish wasn't too spicy, and the macaroni tastes great! Not bland at all!
- Clean establishment, and the smell when you walk in is awesome.
- Prices on the website are not updated. Everything is about $1.50 more.
- I will come back and try the whole menu because I hate eating at all these fried chicken joints on the southside!
Authentic Trinidadian fare with a few traces of American soul food. The staff is very welcoming; I always feel like I've stopped by a cousins kitchen. I recommend. Entree; Red Snapper, Curry Goat, Curry Crab and Dumplings. Sides; Cucumber Chow, Sweet Potatoes, Boiled Dumplings, and Palori. Make sure to inquire if Ginger Beer or Sorrell is available!
