    Well well well.

After thinking Mark had gone all Alba on us, we gave the place a looong break, and lo and behold, a new menu !

A side salad is now one of the allowable sides, and since i do not like french fries, this is a delightful development.  more importantly, it was the funky greens  I so enjoy.

My crispy chicken sandwich was chock full of bacon, and so much chicken I did not even finish it.  This also is a much welcomed turn of events as the last few times I would suggest coming here, Grandma would say she would still be hungry when we left.

The beer selection is still quite good, most notably ( I say again ) including SeaDog Blueberry with fresh ( sweet ! ) blueberries.

And Carole, one of the few who has made me for the Yelper I am, despite my attempts at stealth, was right on the ball.  She recommended the new "pretzel roll", and it was indeed very good.

So bravo Cagneys.  Lost your way for a while I think we took you off the rotation.

It took over an hour to get our appetizers alone. There was only one waitress on our side of the pub, rarely saw her...did I mention that it took over an hour to get our appetizers?? Yup.....

I REALLY want to give this place 4 or 5 stars.  But I just can't.

I should preface this by saying I have been watching a lot of Restaurant Stakeout and Bar Rescue lately.....

My boyfriend and I ended up here for trivia night a little while back, and were very impressed by the place at first glance. Well lit, but not obnoxiously so. Very clean and looked redone. The bar is split into two rooms, and each has a very distinct vibe. We sat down, ordered (very reasonably priced) drinks, and got them quickly. We ordered appetizers, and waited (not exaggerating) over 20 minutes for them, with no check-in from the waitstaff in between.  To their credit, our entrees did come out in a timely manner.

Trivia was fun, I'll give them that. And the food was okay. But that service really stuck in my brain.

So, we decided to go last night and give it another try. Half price off food on Mondays! Same greeting as before. quickly got our first round of drinks. Then, when putting in the appetizer order, we were told that the kitchen was out of bread bowls, shredded cheese, and french fries. Whoa.  We placed our app order, and again, over 20 minutes go by and we do  not receive it. Our server came over, once all of our glasses were completely empty (slurping  noises and all), and told us another woman would run our food right out. 5 minutes go by, and no such luck. I asked the other woman about this, and she had no idea what we were talking about. Our food came out warm-ish about 5 minutes later. Again, the entrees (sans fries and cheese) came out about 5 minutes later and tasted fine.

This place has the potential to be awesome, but the staff needs to recognize that and embody it too.

So close, Cagney's. So, so close.

Waitress seemed to forget we existed even though we were the only table there at 8pm on a Friday night.

Don't get a pizza. Just don't.  4 tiny triangles of dough with a pinch of toppings.  Should have been on a kids menu.

when our usual spot stopped trivia we went looking for a new place. A couple of weeks ago this search brought us to Cagney's

    SEARCH OVER!

I don't know if we are lucky but the Thursday male bartender is SUPER nice and right on top of things. Both weeks he has has a different female with him but they both were good also.

Both visits so far we have had food and my only real complaint is that our burgers are always undercooked. But overall the food is a step above normal bar food and very tasty. The beer selection is great!

I am glad our trivia hunt is over, and as such a comfy place.  This week there was a group who was just so loud, drunk and obnoxious there ruining all the fun who were given PLENTY of warnings.  They were (politely) asked to leave after needing to be told a third time. This seems a normal bar activity, but a lot of places see $$ not people so it was nice to see

Great beer and cocktails, great decor, great TVs, and pretty good food. Salad and chicken fingers were excellent. Pizza was on a weird flatbread crust, but the toppings were delicious (including fresh garlic). I will definitely be back for the warm, modern atmosphere.

They gave the place a facelift but it's still just as comfortable, casual and relaxed. They have a much better beer selection now and better than average pub food at a decent price. Great place with great service, one of my favorites in Quincy.

I love the food here, I have never had a bad meal. The bartenders are super friendly and make great drinks. Try a Moscow mule and the homemade potatoe chips.

RUDE RUDE RUDE RUDE.  The only appropriate description for the Monday night bartenders.  I recently moved to the neighborhood and have stopped in twice before for a few drinks and was underwhelmed - bar was mostly empty and service slow.  Monday's is 1/2 priced menu so was lured back. Never again.

Came in Monday and bar was probably half full.  Sat on bar side (no wait service) and were ignored for 10 mins. Since the menus were on the table we figured out what we wanted and I went up to the bar to ask if I could put in a food order, to which the witch bartender answered "I'll come over in a minute - there were other people here first".  If I weren't starving and determined to try and like this place (its a 2 minute walk from home!) I would have walked out.  When she finally deemed us worthy of her attention, Witch came to the table to FINALLY take not only our food order, but our drink order.  We did manage a "Sorry for the wait" which it apparently pained her to say due to the puss on her face.

Salad and a burger took 30 mins to come out and the burger was COLD...  During that time - NO ONE asked us if we wanted more drinks.  There was another equally apathetic bartender behind the bar as well - she was too busy flirting with a bunch of guys who were clearly regulars and could not be bothered to make eye contact with us never mind wait on us.  Food was not bad (can't complain about the 1/2 priced menu) but the service was horrible.  Its pretty obvious if you are not a regular, you should just eat before you come because they will not be in a hurry to wait on you.

Its very rare where I have ever gone anywhere that's left such a bad impression - I try and give all businesses a fair shake, but 2 minute walk from home or not, I will never come back to Cagneys.

I was there for dinner tonight and was looking forward to steak tip dinner.  The glasses wearing matron asked for my credit card even before we received our food. Then gave me looks to see the tip for services and food not yet provided.  She avoided our table and brought the food out really cold!  Everything was just awful!  I will never go there again--and I've been there several times and have spent 100's of dollars, but as long as this neanderthal works ther I'll never go again--it's too bad the other waitresses are pretty friendly.

Great bar to throw some darts or meet up with some friends. The food is good for bar food and the owner is really cool and personable.

Cagney's is a nice, spacious bar. It's good for hosting a party. It has a very chill and laid back vibe. I diggs.

Atmosphere is good, bartenders are really friendly, trivia night is fun when people in the other room don't cheat.    Food is ok...no better or worse than I would expect from a place like this....what I mean is, I know you do not come to Cagney's for fine dining...it is decent bar food.   We got sliders...and they are definitely the same frozen Bubba Burgers that you can buy at BJs...still taste ok though.
My only real gripe was with the draft beer.  My girlfriend and I ordered a draft, different types of beer, and both were room temperature at best.  And warm beer is the worst.  So this was a letdown.  We decided to switch to mixed drinks, and luckily, the ice cubes were very cold, so that was nice.
Overall, I like it, I'll be back. It would be nice if draft beer situation improved.  Better trivia prizes would be nice too....maybe some gift certificates at least?

Monday nights = 1/2 price menu!

Food is really good here. Buffalo chicken dip is probably the best I've ever had. Served in a big sour dough bread bowl. YUM! Drinks are pretty reasonably priced too. My fiance and I went on a Monday night and probably spent about $70 in food and drinks (fattys!), but since it's half price menu it only cost us about $45 (drinks aren't included).

Comfortalbe atmosphere too. I had never been before they redid the place but it's nice and clean. Staff is quick and friendly too.

This place has changed from when I last went here, and in a good way.  The first time I was here was when the Red Sox had 3 musicians perform on the opening night against the Yankees and also had that kid who recites the Herb Brooks speech from Miracle - not a shining moment for the Red Sox.  After not going here for a while because I never really missed the place, I heard it was done-over and decided to go back.

Holy crap has this place changed!  Not only do they have more beers than just Bud Light, Coors Light and Blue Moon, they have a list of craft beers that are delicious!  I had several of these beers and I'd recommend them to anyone (personal favorite is the Tank7).  They changed the look of the inside of the place so that I may bring a girl on a date here.  The beer list is a great idea.  The food is better from what I can tell.  Everyone sitting down was having a good time and the servers were great too.  Nice to see places get a renovation and end up better than before.

Not the worst bar in quincy well maybe now that ups and downs is closed lol but after reading a couple of reviews on here i tried it out last week and i gotta say i was dissapointed.

The place looked great i was realy impressed with the changes but the servers were pretty unfriendly and seemed more interesed in standing in the corner and having a chat i watched as they stuggled their way through making  a couple of pretty basic drinks then they went back to there corner i was glad to get out of there and go to a real bar.

The menu looked good and they had a lot of choices i ended up sharing some mozzarella sticks and got a sandwich that wasn"t what i orderd i think i didnt get a chance to ask my waitress because she went back to her hiding spot and i thought it was a slider by the size of it and the sweet potatoe fries where under cooked . My friend got the boom boom flat bread and was pretty happy with it .Im not a fine dinning snob either one of my favorite resturants to eat at is friendlys and i must say this is no friendlys damn it lol.

Dont let the lipstick on this pig fool you its the same old dive.

There are very few things to dislike about Cagney's...actually there's only one & we'll get to that later.

Cagney's is the opposite of your stereotypical Quincy bar: spacious, friendly staff, great owner & great food.

The recent renovations show Mark's commitment to the place and creates a great atmosphere. Normally we're here on Thursdays for Trivia with Jaime which is always a lot of fun. We always get dinner and everything I've had on the menu has been great EXCEPT the Buffalo Chicken Dip. There's freaking spinach in it! I'd rather have toenails in there...

I think it's 20 beers on tap and I know they have the most in the city so do yourselves a favor and go to Cagney's!

Went here for trivia on a Thursday night; while the food wasn't bad and the drinks were cheap it took quite a long time to be noticed/served by the staff and bartender. Those who were working went to every other table in the restaurant and passed right by my table, my empty glass and dirty dishes. Not to mention handed out fliers for the holiday party to every other table except mine. I am not a regular customer, but I am new to the area and felt very unwelcome at this bar. I'd rather go back to Coop's down the street.

Simply put: I love Cagney's. As a kid, my parents and I would occasionally pop in for family dinner, but I don't remember very much about it (aside from LOVING their potato skins). A few months ago, my friends and I got hooked on pub trivia and began seeking it out almost every night of the week. We had a Thursday night location that we liked, but one night, we just didn't feel like going there. So we did a little research and found that there was a Thursday night game at Cagney's and decided to check it out. We have never gone back to the other bar.
The first night we went to Cagney's, I felt comfortable. Everyone was friendly and informal and we had some great food and great laughs. We've become Thursday night regulars, so much so, that the night I got engaged (a Thursday), we skipped going out for a fancy celebration in favor of going to our favorite bar!
The food is great, the drinks are great, the staff is great...five stars, no question!

I love Cagneys.  There is always a good flow of people, but its not overly crowded.   You can get to the bar without having to dive over 100 people.  I love their signature drinks, try the winter Sangria! Soo good!  And the homemade chips are to die for!

There is always something going on at Cagney's - Djs, themed parties (80's night!!), trivia on Thursday, Tarots & Tini's on some Wednesdays, half price apps on Mondays!   There's always something to do there.

I've held a few functions there because the side room is FREE!   Unlike most establishments, you don't have to have food, so we've been able to throw a 25th birthday party for the cost of balloons, and all our guests were able to purchase their own food or drinks!  The food is amazing, I also had the privilege of hosting a small baby shower there.   Mark, the owner was exceptionally helpful figuring out how to make the shower tasteful on a budget.     It goes to show you that tasteful doesn't have to be expensive!

What a treat.  The owner, Mark, waited on us, and he was amazing.  Our food was great, and the green apple martini was fabulous.  Will definitely be returning here.  Seemed like a place "where everybody knows your name."  Congratulations to Mark for having owned Cagney's for 20 years--anniversary was last week. :)

If I could give Cagney's 6 stars I would. I have lived in the area for 2+ years and could not ask for a better neighborhood bar.

The food at Cagney's is always good, and they're always trying something different. In addition to a great, well-balanced menu, they've always got specials going that they're happy to tell you about. Do not ever pass up the pulled pork when it's on special, take my word for it.

Bar pizzas are delicious, as are the lighter, served-with-salad flatbread pizzas. Soups, stews and chowders are always a good choice, as is almost anything on the app menu. My hands-down favorite are the buffalo chicken sliders with sweet potato fries. Mmmmm.

Every day there is something going on at Cag's--Half price menu on Monday, trivia on Thursdays, comedy nights, karaoke nights, holiday parties, whatever! (You can reserve their back room for your party for free.) Last week they had their first 'Tini's + Tarot evening where they had some tarot card readers in and you could get a martini and a reading for $25. There's a large martini menu to choose from and there are always drinks on special. This winter I was drinking at least one Snowflake Martini a week, I think it was vanilla vodka and creme de menthe? Ooh, it was good.

Anyway, the last & best thing about Cagney's is that the people there are great. Patrons are a good crowd, and the crew of owner, bartenders & kitchen staff are just super friendly, fun people. Worth a visit.

Honestly, it's hard enough to find a bar that mixes a local flavor, but isn't an absolute dive that's full of creeps. Cag's honestly mixes the best aspects of both of those very well. Everyone here knows each other as there are always regulars no matter what night of the week you're there. The bartenders know you by name, and are all fun people to talk to. The owner is engaging with his patrons, and is an overall great guy.

The beers and food are all reasonably priced, especially for this area. The bar pizza's here are some of the best, and the wings are great as well. Good selection of beers all at reasonable pricing.

Trivia on Thursday nights is always a good time, and usually has a good amount of teams playing as well. Plenty of TV's around with various sports on, etc.

All in all, I've been going here for close to 3 years now, and it's still a place I look forward to spending a night at when my schedule allows for it.

I'm a wing lover and I decry on how the wing dings are here. I absolutely will not the eat wings here again. Why? I can taste everything that's been in the fryOlater when I bite into the wings.

They did a pretty good job on the braised short ribs tho. Got the braised beef taste and not overwhelmed with marination. Comes with a side of delectable sweet potato fries.

Bud light draft $2.75, blue moon draft $5, goose on rocks in tiny glass $7.95.

Doing work here is pretty comfie. I'm one of those weird ppl that goes to a bar alone to read or do work. Sometimes being studious doesn't keep bar flies away tho, dang it!

The bar ternder supports drinking and driving.  I have a Ma liquid ID, i don't drive cars.  I lived near by, the bar ternder told me I need a drivers licsense and told me to leave.  Very unfriendly people. Yeah dude hang out! Place just plain sucks, don't go there.

The burger prices are 'too big to fail' and the McDonalds size patties do taste OK on the inappropriate and oily flatbread rolls.  Example: 1 cheeseburger $9.45; 1 hamburger $8.45.  The burgers include excellent fries and horrid and watery slaw.   The beers are moderate at $3.75 ea., but ONE rum and coke will set you back $6.50.  The bartender sporadically handles service.... 'hi GUYS'... ooooh I hate that!  In the dining booths, loud barflies with big butts near your face did nothing for my appetite.   So... 'bottom' line... there are much better places to get OK burgers.... like.... EVERYWHERE!  Late breaking news... HUGE intestinal irregularity 2-3 hours later... worse than anything the worst Chinese restaurant has ever offered.

This place was a lot of fun for trivia.  The bartender was really fun and friendly, and despite the fact that he was tending bar in two rooms, he was totally attentive.

The food was surprisingly good, and the drinks were VERY reasonably priced.  The appetizers were great, and well worth it.

Two friends and I went here last night to play trivia and were very pleasantly surpsised! The place was clean, and the room where they trivia DJ was was roomy, with a bar and some booths and tables.

The food was AWESOME! It was worth the total diet sabotage for those apps! We ordered sweet potato fries, garlic mozzarella triangles and some sort of fried mac and cheese squares. Tasty! My friend ordered burger sliders and seemed to enjoy them.

The bartenders were friendly and funny, making sure everyone was all set for drinks, checkinig in often.

    We'll definitely be back!

I love this place - if the hubby and I get a night out without the kids, this is where we go.... the food is AWESOME..... All of the bartenders are attentive and friendly as well as the owner who is often behind the bar.... the cook is amazing, you have to try the homemade potato chips with dip - so delicious.  The pizza is great, I cannot say enough about the food......best place I have found locally and I have tried them all! Oh and very inexpensive!! Do yourself a favor and go in, have a drink and an appetizer - you will go back... oh and if you are looking for a place to have a party - rental room is FREE....

I love Cagney's! I went once to meet a guy on a date and have gone back twice this week! I was just looking for a place in the Quincy area and when i read all of the great reviews i decided to check it out. The food is amazing, especially the Steak Tips...out of this world! The drinks are yummy and the bartenders are friendly, fun and on top of their game! I would highly recommend checking it out! :)

This place is a great neighborhood bar!

There's trivia on Thursday nights which is fun.  I've only been able to go once but I want to much more!  The bar and restaurant are split by a wall, so if you prefer loud or quiet they have room for both!

The food here is also surprisingly good for a bar.  My girlfriend and I split a Ranch Chicken Pizza which was great.  Crispy crust, ranch as the sauce and slices of tomato under the toppings as well.  Prices are reasonable as well.  Not dirt cheap, but you won't hurt your wallet much either.

Only reason I give 4 stars is because the kitchen can turn out food a little slow.  Overall this place has a fun atmosphere and I'd recommend it to anybody.

Cagneys is getting five stars for being the PERFECT dive bar.  I will openly admit I'm a Back Bay snob.  The thought of leaving Boston to go drinking was never my thing, so when the bf suggested we go to one of his favorite Quincy dive bars, I rolled my eyes and just said "Quincy?  Really? Come on..".  That was almost a year ago.  I've been to Cagneys a good ten times now and each time has been a ton of fun.  The drinks are stiff (and cheap!  who knew you didn't have to pay $10 a drink!) and the food is so, so very good.  Like there's no reason whatsoever for the food to be this good.  Everyone is super nice, darts are usually always open, drinks are stiff, and again, the food is excellent.  Cagney's is an excellent reason to go drinking outside of Boston.

Holla to my FAVORITE hometown dive bar. Well back in the day (circa 2004) Cags was considered a dive bar but a few flat screen tvs and a bathroom mirror later, it's up and coming...kind of.
On a random night you'll see old regulars, ya dudes, construction workers, bikers, 21 year olds and returning college students. I go for the food...and for the excellent drinks. Carol and Robin are my two favorite bar tenders in Quincy. They'll both be straight with you but eventually warm up...well Carol will anyway. =)
